Description

Amelia could be largely described as unassuming; that is to say, modestly attractive, but otherwise relatively plain, being of average height for a young woman her age and possessed of a lithe, yet athletic build, and is like to slip in and out of view as easily as a shadows flee the daylight. More of a reactive individual, she persists in a constant state of seeming indifference, and to anyone she isn't close with, she is known as 'the girl who never smiles'.

Amelia's attire varies and, like her, posits more on practicality that fashion flare. She is regularly seen wearing warmer clothes than cooler except when she is exercising, and she tends to favor darker colored attire, trending towards blues, blacks, and deep scarlets.

Personality

Reserved, but incredibly perceptive, Amelia is like to spot a great deal going on in the world around her, though her reactions to such events tend to be either lacking or nonexistent. Instead, she is more the type to listlessly stare off into the void and largely keeps to herself due to her rather poor social skill.

Though typically preferring indolence, Amelia takes on a persona of calculating determination when driven to act, and tends to put a lot energy towards planning and strategizing. As a fighter, she gives off an air of composed confidence.

Wishes, Goals & Motivations

Amelia is a professional martial artist and knows several fighting styles, though her preferred style is karate, namely the type that involves more punching and kicking than throws or holds. She continually hones her art in an effort to catch up to the strength of her sisters, whom she idolizes as peerless fighters and paragons of independence. She believes that if she, too, learns how to fight in a way that nobody can beat her, she'll earn their respect, and thus find happiness.

Aside from this, however, Amelia's goals at Lythia Adventuring Academy are surprisingly lacking, though during her time she has taken an interest in numerous activities, including the school's music club, where she is learning to play the guitar.

Backstory

An orphan who was found at the scene of a Pokemon attack when she was still very young, she was the only known survivor and has only fleeting, broken memories of her time before being found by the Tespin sisters, who would eventually go on to adopt her into their family. Despite Molly being her guardian, however, she insisted that Amelia refer to her as 'Big Sis'.

Originally small, frail and sickly when she came to live with the Tespins, she eventually grew into strong, capable young woman, if a bit reserved. To the best of her knowledge, she always been a mute. Now at the age her sisters were when they both made their marks on the world, Amelia feels as though its time for her to do the same, and opted to follow in Franny's footsteps, coming to study at Lythia Academy in hopes of finding her place in the world.

Connections

 

Violet Gemwater One of the students in Amelia's class and part of the original orientation group, as well as one of her suitemates. Amelia originally regarded Violet as nosey and a little handsy, but grew to respect her as a martial arts peer during an impromptu wrestling match between the two of them. After an emotional heart-to-heart, they became very close, and Amelia eventually developed a crush on Violet, but was misled into thinking her feelings were largely unrequited. This came to a head during the first weekend away from school, during which the two shared a kiss and began dating, however they're currently off to a very rocky start, as Amelia is having a difficult time keeping up with Violet's impulsiveness.

Fen Dell One of the students in Amelia's class and part of the original orientation group, as well as one of her suitemates. Amelia sees Fen as the 'brains' of their friend group and seems to think of her as a good, loyal friend with a lot of great ideas, but hasn't gotten a chance to interact with the older girl one-on-one. Amelia isn't sure of what to think of Fen's curiosity pertaining to the mysterious Pokemon they all 'met' during orientation, believing that the others are 'chasing fairytales', but has mostly decided to go along with it if not for no other reason than to support her friend.

Aris One of the students in Amelia's class, Amelia 'met' her after an incident during one of Pinklehauser's classes during which the teacher berated the girl and sent her fleeing the room and causing Amelia to become fed up with the teacher and leave as well. Following a mental wellness session, the two became friends and Amelia incorporated Aris into her friend group. Amelia sees Aris as both a friend and also like a younger sister, often leaping to protect the younger girl and try to encourage her whenever possible, as well as include her in whatever they're doing. She wants to see Aris overcome her shyness and become more confident.

 

Megumi Aka Gumball. The treasurer of the student council who served as the guide for Amelia's group during orientation, she also heads the CUTE Club. Amelia considers Megumi to be something of a 'background character' at the school, but likes her colorful personality and generally doesn't mind being around her, she just doesn't actively seek her out.

Jennifer Aka 'Goosey'. A member of the disciplinary committee at Lythia, Amelia has been playing a cat-and-mouse game with Jennifer since day one after she was found snoozing in the dorm lounge past curfew, and assumes that her adversary is just some stuck-up, snobby girl that has nothing better to do than pester her and interrupt her impromptu naps.

Marianne Aka Mary-Jane or 'MJ'. The current student council president, as well as the head of far too many clubs, at least in Amelia's mind. Amelia is largely suspicious of Marianne's can-do attitude and is generally wary of how many pies the president has her fingers in around the school. In particular, she isn't fond of the fact that Marianne is the Editor in Chief of the school's newspaper, as well as the 'front' of the music club. Amelia feels as though it is her personal duty to sunder the school's creative arts from Marianne's iron grip, and tends to view the president's actions in a bad light, even when she appears to be being nice.

Judy One of the students in Amelia's class, as well as her primary sparring partner during Martial Arts classes, she beat Amelia during their first bout, which caused her to resent Judy at first, but since then they have become amicable training acquaintances. Part of Amelia is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to challenge Judy to a second match, though another part of her fears losing again.

Ming A member of the disciplinary committee at Lythia, Amelia was originally wary of Ming's strict and foreboding presence, but has since come to believe he is the most reasonable and understanding member of the committee. She is interested in seeing what kind of person Ming is when he's not 'on duty'.

Zhen A student at Lythia and a member fo the music club, she and Amelia originally met at a music shop in town. After learning they were both in the same club, she offered to teach Amelia as she learned to play the guitar, and has been largely supportive of her talent--a little too supportive in Amelia's mind. Even still, Amelia appreciates what Zhen is trying to do, and considers the fellow musician to be a sort of friendly mentor.

 

Master Kaori One of the martial arts teachers at Lythia and Amelia's chosen tutor, Amelia looks up to Kaori's calm, composed demeanor and powerful presence. She reminds Amelia of her older sister in a lot of ways, and intends to learn everything she can from her preferred instructor.

Ranger Audrey One of the teachers at Lythia and a member of the Rangers, Audrey reminds Amelia of her middle sister in a lot of ways, albeit without the short fuse and the penchant for solving all of her problems by duking it out. Amelia thinks she can learn quite a bit from Audrey, and likes that she teaches her wilderness training classes in a way that includes only minimal 'in-class' time.

Principal Blackwood The Principal of Lythia Academy, to whom Amelia is assigned to for her independent study. Though they've had only very limited interaction, Amelia already finds herself admiring the Principal's imposing, self-assured demeanor, and is very much looking forward to serving as her assistant.

Doctor Gertz The nurse, as well as a teacher at Lythia, Amelia and Doctor Gertz originally got off to a bad start, with the young mute snapping at the nurse's nonchalant and irritable personality, though they have since come to a sort of understanding and Amelia plans to volunteer at the clinic to try and figure the woman out. Despite the stark difference in age, Amelia almost sees a little bit of her elder sister's laziness in Gertz, and has even started treating her like she treats Molly when the latter is home.

Kassie The librarian at Lythia, as well as the music club overseer, Amelia genuinely likes Kassie's chill attitude, finding it refreshing and easy to deal with compared to most of the people at school. That she also has an interest in music only compounds this fact, and Amelia always feels the need to stop and say hi to the older girl whenever she sees her, though has yet to really invite her to join the group.

 

Molly Tespin The eldest of the three Tespin sisters, Molly is strong, confident, and most importantly, retired, running a seaside tavern in the Port district. Somewhat famous--or perhaps 'infamous'--in her own right as an adventurer, she used to be a part of a prominent guild back in her heydey. Amelia greatly looks up to her elder sister for her strength, courageousness, and commanding aura. She has a Gyarados, as well as several other marine-themed Pokemon.

Franny Tespin The middle child of the Tespin sisters, Franny's is, in Amelia's own words, a 'literal force of nature'. Hot-headed and reckless, she makes up for these traits with sheer, overwhelming power, and was something of a martial prodigy during her time in Lythia. Amelia looks up to Franny for her raw strength, but also for her fearsome determination and unflinching want to grow stronger and prove herself. Franny has no Pokémon, not because she can't bond with them, but rather because she doesn't need to, and generally thinks Pokémon just 'get in the way'.

The Man in the Dream After meeting her Pokemon companion, Amelia has started to have flashbacks about a life she doesn't remember. One of these flashbacks included a man's voice talking to her about 'bowing', mentioning a 'grandma' and a 'shrine'. Though Amelia has no idea who these people could have been, she feels some sense of familiarity about it all, and wonders who that was...
