Name - Josse Valee
Clan - Toreador
Concept - Courtier
Generation - 12th
Background -

I am the second son of Sir Charlon Valee, le grand marchand de cidre et d'eau-de-vie de Normandie. The great cider and brandy merchant of Normandy. But to all members of my Toreador family, no matter the age, I am the little brother who is to be taught the nuances of every great art form around the world. It is just that I have a desire to learn the art of rulership, which may be why I have been granted the opportunity to attend the courts in England. Not that I have lofty aspirations of ever reaching a position beyond my means, but our family has always been a merchant family and we thrive on interactions with others. If it were not for my own youthful indiscretions, I might have found a lasting place in the Courts of Love. Perhaps it is my true sire to whom you would have the most interest. As a progeny of Lady Victoria, of the court of Helene La Juste I have garnered many names in my time with the kindred. The Merchant of Love. The Knight of Hearts. The Beautiful Mistake. The ways of this world I have learned honestly, but not in full. I am eager to learn more.

Personality - Josse is very congenial and mannerly in the appropriate situations. His well purchased tutoring and his time growing up at court taught him not only the rules of etiquette, but the nuances of personal interaction as well. Among a more relaxed atmosphere, Josse is a friendly sort, given to a good laugh and keeping up the cheer of those around him. In quieter moments, he is often a sympathetic ear. Although he may hear his share of gossip, he is not known for spreading the same.

I was born gifted, able to speak to spirits and able to hear them speak back. My abusive father told me it was a sign I was demonic and beat me for it. But it wasn't the only thing he beat me for, he wanted sons, but had only me, so he did his best to turn me into his son, taught me all the manly arts of war for it was the only lesson he had to teach. My mother though taught me of the old ways and of the secrets within the dark places of the night.

I knew to stay away from the ancient monastery, everyone knew, but I thought I was smarter, I thought I knew the true ways of the world, and I was no coward, I sought to spend the night within it to prove to my father, and perhaps to myself, I was as brave as he could desire. I was a fool.

The beast, which I have since learned was a Gargoyle, was on me minutes after the sun sank below the horizon. It beat me senseless before I even had time to draw my blades, and would have killed me had it's master not ordered it to stop. By night the pair toyed with me, and I begged the spirits for aid, by day I waited for my father to come and find me. They tired of me the third night and would have killed me but then She was there, all fangs and fur, the gargoyle died within moments, but that did me little good, the damage was done and I died shortly after.

I awoke the next night, the catlike creature, now a woman, explained that her name was Adisa, that I had begged the spirits for aid and that she had come. She had watched the prior nights, had seen my warrior's spirit and had seen my resolve and so she had made me as she was. I was surprised to find the gargoyle's master alive, she told me that his punishment was to act as my tutor, to teach me secrets that if it was revealed that I knew would get him killed.

And so as winter set in and snow piled upon the ground I learned from them both my torturer and my savior, he advanced my knowledge of the secrets of the world and taught me the magic of blood. Adisa sharpened my skills in battle and taught me the ways of her bloodline. When the snows melted away, Adisa told me it was time for us all to part ways, when my mood is good I think of her and wonder where she is, but when my mood goes dark I think of him and hope he still hides in his little burned out monastery.

Game Application

Name: Sir Godith Walter
Clan: Malkavian

Concept: A former knight hospitaller turned doctor, Godith was a holy warrior within the crusades with a strong devotion to helping those in need. In particular he was dedicated to protecting pilgrims and other religious folk throughout the holy land. His military background makes him different than many Malkavians. After his transformation he became much more enthralled with intellectualism, in particular the human body. He has given up looking for a cure, but is now interested in learning as much as possible about the universe and the occult.

Rough Background: Sir Godith Walter was born into a minor noble family from a small town from the outskirts around London. His family was not the best with money, and his father early on started to become known for his many debts. When Godith was a child his eldest brother went off to the first crusade and never returned, dying in battle. Once Godith became old enough in 1118,, he left his diminished household and elderly father to join the Knight Hospitallers and become a full crusader. A newly minted order, they were not the military powerhouse they would become. Still Godith found it wholesome and godly to provide pilgrims with protection, as well as attend to the hospital built there.

He was a good soldier, becoming well liked within the order. Unfortunately he suffered a crippling blow while escorting a wealthy pilgrim, and was not fit for constant battle. Always angered at not being useful, he decided to assist at the hospital. It was here that he started to learn battlefield medicine and surgery. After a few years being a support worker for the knights hospitallers, his father became ill, and he was forced to return home. It was during his way home that he was accosted by a vampire and became a Malk. He had a lot of trouble coming to terms with this transition, Godith was after-all a very spiritual and religious crusader. He spent months travelling western Europe trying to find a cure, much to the enjoyment of his Sire. He was not dumb though, keeping himself hidden as much as possible, he still felt the lord had goals for him. Over time this was replaced by a strong desire to understand what was afflicting him. By the time he arrived home, his father had already passed. He gave the land to his younger brother, while taking a sizable amount of wealth to keep him company during his travels.

Vimara Gabriel Carvalh

right-aligned image

Name: Vimara Gabriel Carvalh
Clan: Lasombra

Concept: A former a non-combatant support roleSergeant for the Knights Templar.

Rough Background: Vimara Gabriel Carvalh was born to a minor diplomat in Porto, Portugalia in 1112 Anno Domini, the year that Afonso Henriques became the first King of Portugal. He was recruited into the Knights Templar as a Sergeant to assist with diplomatic missions.

He was reborn a Canite in 1137 by a name and background of sire TDBsire who was impressed with his loyalty and competence and who needed something more than a ghoul to carry out missions sensitive to the Lasombra cause in Iberia.

His sire taught him to follow the Road of Heaven, which was fairly easy as Vimara was already a devout Christian. But shortly after the Battle of Ourique, he began to question the righteousness of the path. Meeting an Abyss Mystic, he found himself drawn to the Path of the Abyss, much to his sire's dismay. A loud argument erupted over this during a gathering of their coterie at the time, and Vimara left.

Fearing his sire's wrath, Vimara gathered what small wealth he had accumulated in his time with the Templars and moved through Bilbao, Paris, and Calais before finally settling into a small house in London. He lives with his retainer, Ambroise - a ghoul whom he bonded while residing in Calais, who attends to his daytime needs.

I'm putting together a Ventrue using a soldier concept and should have him ready to post in a day or two. Having some difficulty logging into IMGUR to save the photo I want to use and am going to take a little more time to make sure the history I'm writing meshes well enough with real world timelines. Just putting this here as a place holder to show my interest and intent.

Background History:

In the later decades of the 12th century Clan Ventrue launched an attempt to gain more influence within the Kingdom of Sicily, a long time bastion of Clan Lasombra. It was primarily regarded as a recon in force, to insert some promising ancilla from elsewhere on the Italian peninsula to see if they could establish themselves as a prelude to future expansion. One of these ancilla Fileno Passi of Milan, set up an estate and begin to build a power base outside the city of Messina in northern Sicily. He embraced a few neonates and begin the long, hard work of establishing himself without being seen as a threat by the Lasombra lords who ruled these lands.

One of these neonates was Stefano Aveni, the younger son of a local lord who showed talent but stood to inherit no land or money of his own. Instead he seemed destined for a career in the military and had the skills to match. Those skills would prove of value Fileno reasoned, as would his familiarity with courtly settings. Giving Stefano the embrace he set him about the task of seeing to security around his estate, training some soldiers and in turn being trained in the arts of managing an estate. The younger Ventrue proved adept at all these lessons but, as fortune would have it, didn't have the time to fully master these arts before the Lasombra struck.

Through a combination of good planning, careful diplomacy and some good fortune Fileno managed to maintain his Sicilian holdings for nearly twenty years. When the Lasombra finally grew tired of him they struck with great force and almost destroyed them all with that first strike. Fileno was forced to flee for his life as most of his childer were destroyed and his estate going up in flames. Stefano however survived and, without being able to contact his sire saved what he could of the Ventrue's works in the region.

Using his training, his indomitable will and good tactics he managed to organize the survivors and secure much of his sire's assets in the mountainous country surrounding Messina. Like many rebels had done during the long history of the island he became a guerilla fighter, striking small targets of opportunity belonging to the Lasombra while gathering what forces he could. There was of course a goodly deal of luck in it that he survived and did so well as he had. The bottom line though was that he had survived and managed to save some of the Ventrue's assets that had been devoted to the ultimately failed mission.

Finally escaping Sicily with as much of his sires goods, followers and papers as he could Stefano found himself hailed as an up and coming young kindred while his sire was generally looked down upon for his failure and being forced to flee. Stefano had unwittingly succeeded and, though he had done his lord a great service, had also earned his displeasure in one upping him and making him look weak in the eyes of the elder clan members.

Now, having been cut off and at loose ends Stefano must find some place new to settle and try to thrive. He has little, other than his own talents and powers. For the moment he has no holdings, no resources and no friends to turn to. It is time to seek greener pastures as they say.

Appearance:

Stefano stands about six foot one and is about 200 lbs. He has dark hair and blue eyes. His original tanned Mediterannean complexion is significantly more pale now. As with most Sicilian noblemen of the time he is primarily of Norman descent but with blood ties to the previous overlords in the region such as the Byzantines, Arabs, Turks and north Africans. It is obvious to anyone who sees him that he is well toned and quite athletic.

Personality:

He is not the flashy sort. To observers he seems calm, cool and collected. What he hides though is his need to belong somewhere and build up something of his own. He regrets the fact that his sire is now so resentful of him but that does give him the freedom to build a new life elsewhere. Pragmatic to a fault he is an honorable soul following the Road of Kings.

Feeding restriction:

He only feeds on the brave. Be it soldiers, brigands or just some kine who is brave enough to stand up to their enemies.
