Response Frequency?
Is it common to see some games expect a 24 hour response, while other games post once or twice a week? Is there some standard? |

Typically, each DM runs different rates, per their life, game style, etc.. There is no standard, except that in general, whatever "rate" the game promises usually ends up a notch lower on the posting scale, due to real life events, etc..
I am in a game that usually sees a daily post by the GM (Rare); one that has the GM update every M/W/F, and once over the weekend; a couple that are once/twice a week, at best, etc..

There is no standard. Apply to (or run) games with response rates that fit your schedule. If you come across an ad in Games Seeking Players that doesn't list an expected post rate, then it's a good idea to ask what post rate you'll be expected to meet.
Games also tend to slow a bit from their original listed post rate as they progress. Not all do, but it's a common occurrence.

As Dirkoth said - it depends. Some GMs post daily, others weekly. Most fall between those, but there are also a few who post more often than daily or less than weekly...
Usually the game application will state a desired posting rate, but be ready for that to vary over the life of the game.
