See if I wasn't already committed to this game with what I've already put together is apply for that position, but Lyra has a long way to go before she has a good enough medical skill to do anything past applying bandaid and maybe an occasional splint but nothing major.

Also, for all of you reading through this, the system for Serenity is so flexible that you're not stuck with just the "medic" class and that's all you'll ever be good at. That can just be your best quality and the others round you out to a whole person.

Teagan is a pretty petite young woman, with bright red hair and pretty green eyes. Her hair falls to past her shoulder blades and she wears violet hair clips with ribbons that clip her hair into pig tails, though it also hangs down in the back (though she often wears a pony tail) She also has long bangs parted a bit on the left side that fall to about the middle of her cheeks. She tends towards wearing skirts that tend to be on the shortish side or cargo shorts, and she wears a lot of soft colored tops. She also has a pair of black cargo pants, and a leather jacket. She tends towards wearing cloth tennyshoes. When she’s out and a bout she usually has a satchel slung over her shoulder. She also has a pair of roller blades that she loves and she loves to rollerblade whenever she can.


Serenity bio: Teagan was born and grew up on Bernadette, one of the central planets and was the only child of well off parents. She had a pretty average childhood growing up (for a rich girl), though she was very bright, she spent most of her time with her head in the clouds dreaming of high adventure and torrid romances with pirates and all that sorta stuff bored young girls dream about.

Since she didn’t have a lot of focus in her life her parents pushed her into medicine, which it turned out she was quite adept at, and she graduated near the top of her class, and was almost immediately hired by a major hospital. She took a lot of pride in helping people and enjoyed making people well, but still her entire world was sorta boring prepackaged dullness.

Then one day seemingly out of the blue the alliance arrested her parents for treason. It turns out her parents had been giving alliance secrets to the Independents during the Unification war, and being generally “traitors to the alliance”. Teagan tried her best to come up with a legal solution to her parent’s plight, and burnt up all the families’ savings doing it, but to no avail. Both her parents were sentenced to life in prison without the option for parole (instead of execution thanks to the families fortune).

Her career was over after that no hospital in the core would have a doctor who was the child of traitors after all. Broke and disheartened she realized there wasn't anything she could do for her parents and that she didn't really have anything keeping her on Bernadette. She packed up what she had left and went out to see the 'verse.

Her first trip into the black was an interesting one. She crewed up as the medic on a small freighter named the Aces and Eights. Which was crewed be a decent, but less then reputable lot. It was quite a bit of culture shock for her. That didn't last very long though, for one reason or another the crew went their separate ways and the captain retired. So now she's looking for something new to do with herself.

Yep. This is Greenhorn level, though two of the crew have one adventure under their proverbial belts.

I want to keep a track of our adventure on a piece of paper and have it under my literal belt. Just to say I have x number of adventures under my belt.

Or...you could have a tag on each adventure that has a number on it, and have that hanging from the "adventure" that is under your belt. That way, all who see would know how many are under your belt. "Whooooaaa! Did you see all those numbers hanging out from under his belt? Man's been around."

Flavour Sci-Fi Western, in the tradition of Firefly

The Firefly Vessel "Freedom's Flight" is prepared to set off into the black. Ever sail in a Firefly?

Characters are joining a crew of folk who have been through an adventure or two. They need some more crew.
Timeframe will be just after events of Firefly T.V. Series Final Episode and prior to Events of the Motion Picture “Serenity.”

The Hook Bernadette. The Ship has just docked and looking for work/cargo. The current crew is short handed and looking for more help.

What 'type' of game will it be?
Game will be typical of the Firefly/Serenity theme. Players’ characters will be part of crew – a team. Each should have motivations and or reasons to have joined a crew, and to stay part of one. Obviously, these motivations and reasons do not have to be known by other characters.

How many Players are you looking for?
1-2
Have Captain, Pilot, Mechanic, and Doc type characters. Create what you want.

What is the characters' starting level?
Greenhorn +6 Advancement points to be on the same level as current Crew.

How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with?
This is determined by the starting level of the game, which is Greenhorn. Point buy system - 42 points for Attributes, 62 points for Skills.

Are there any particular character “things that you want... or do not want?
Some Traits, Complications may be limited to minor. “Reader Trait is most definitely limited to minor if you choose to purchase. Mute complication cannot be chosen.

What races, subraces, species, etc. are allowed for your game?
Uh-duh. Human only please. No aliens in the ‘Verse, people are weird enough as it is.

Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game ?
All players will do their own die rolling. GM will roll for all NPCs and all nasty ‘Verse surprises.

Are there any homebrewed or optional/variant rules that Players should know about?
Yes. Here are the posting Rules:
POSTING: GM posts will be 48 hours apart maximum. This is a sliding window. If you miss the window, then the game will not be held up for your character and he/she will be drug along at the GM’s Discretion. If all players post in less than 48 hours after the last GM post, GM will – most of the time – post soon thereafter, thus speeding up the game.


Is a character background required? Are you looking for anything in particular?
Yes. Characters Backgrounds are up to players, though should be looking to be part of a ship's crew. The “Hows” and “Whys” of this is strictly up to the player.
Secrets are encouraged. GM reserves right to “suggest” changes be made before game start for better “flow” of game.

Are your Players restricted to particular rule books and supplements?
Yes. These are the books I have, and all are allowed.

-Big Damn Heroes Handbook

-Six-Shooters & Spaceships

-Cortex Shipyards, Volume 1 & 2

Character Submission:
Need name, Age, Sex, background, and general idea of skill set (like complications, traits, etc.) you want your character to have. This can all be blended together in a paragraph or two as I'm not picky. Character generation will take place after your player has been accepted (though it you wish to get a head start, feel free to do so, but this will not sway acceptance into game).

Lastly: No dice rolling in the Advertisement Thread. Shouldn’t be a problem since Cortex rules are based on “Point Buy” system.
