But there are places to download or look up the various traits (Assets/complications) The rest someone with a book (like me) can look up for you. Let me sum up Character creation best I can without getting sued First you think 'COWBOYS IN SPACE' and devise a concept, may want to take into account what the GM is looking for but he said make want YOU want, do that. (I go for the tech role because I'm a qualified Technician IRL, so I'm real familiar/comfortable with that sort of thing) Then you choose your traits, at minimum, one Assets (good stuff) and one Complication (makes life interestin’). Traits are bought with your Attribute Points, why is good to do this before buying your attributes. (2 for a Minor, 4 for a Major, negatives for Complications) You can only have up to five Assets and five Complications. Their costs need not cancel each other out but most of us do it that way because we don't like loosing points. (actually because I have the Amnesia complication the GM is to slap me with a Complication of his choosing which will net me bonus points, this complication does count towards my limit, hence why I currently only have 4) Now buy your attributes, you can see from my sheet that you got 6 of them, I'm sure you can work out whats what. Each is worth a die type from d4 to d12 (the maximum for a beginning character). The cost of each die is equal you that die (4 points for a d4, 12 points for a d12, etc.) pretty simple, you want to be strong and dumb? d12 in STR and d4 in INT, you get the picture. you have 42 points to spend on Attributes + the cost of your complications - the price of your assets. (a d6 in an attribute is considered to be an average adult.) You got these extra attributes too, Life Points (Vitality + Willpower die types added together, not a die) and Initiative (Agility + Alertness) and speed which is default 15 unless you have an assets or complication which modifies it. Now picken what ya do. Skills. same as Attributes it uses die and the cost is the same as that die, but this time you have 62 points to spend. The skills listed on your character sheet are 'General skills' and may only advance to a d6. a d2 is a basic familiarity, no training though. d4 signifies you got some basic training and a d6 represents a level of competence at which ya could get paid an average wage for not difficult work with that skill. But you can go beyond a d6 with 'Specialties' (that begin at d8). Specialties are more focused version of the general skill like say 'Slight of hand' is a part of covert, 'Pistols' is part of Guns and 'Hacking' means you should see a doctor about your throat, I mean part of Technical Engineering. their costs are lower 2 for a d8, 4 for a d10 and 6 for a d12, but the associated General skill must be at d6 before you can specialize. The book does give examples of Specializations, but if you use your head and go with your gut, you'll do fine. Now fill in personal details such as gender, height, weight, home world and the like. Make sure your background and history are spiffy and your rocking! Oh, don't forget to name yourself, might be bit embarrassing to not have one. Regarding gear: your probably gonna want to get a copy of the book for that, but if you have a rough idea of what you want I can look it up for you. you have $750 to spend. A lot of the really mundane things aren't listed in the book and it says to just use IRL prices, you know, things like clothes that stop you getting arrested for not wearing them. I hope this helps and doesn't get me sued.

I hate it when a post disappears...
Scarabus - Looks good so far. Go ahead and try to finish out the sheet. If you need any help just ask. Kyramor - She looks great. Only hitch is that there are no "d5"s in Serenity. You'll need to go down to 4 or up to 6 on those to balance her out. Oryhara - Please, by all means submit a character. It really helps me out having players who know the system as well, if not better, than I. And don't worry, if there's a learning curve anywhere for you, we'll work around it. ghost6442 - Thanks for helping out, Mucho gracias! Also, sheet looks good Might I suggest...

Character Sheet is Here
And now for some Background stuff. Description Kaiv is a average looking person, 5'4", brown hair medium skin tone, no discernable features whatsoever. Kinda looks like your average joe. As such its easy to lose him in a crowd, although there may be times where one might want to disappear. Kaiv has little history to name of, not even he knows what happened in his past. Family, birth place and previous jobs all lost to his amnesia that made his past an enigma. His memorable history is only recent, being in the last 3 months or so, sailing with a freighter between the core worlds and the border zones. Kaiv does however suffer from some sort of paralyzing flashbacks which overwhelm his senses. So far these haven’t affected kaiv too much as he has various drugs to keep them under control but they are running out. His memory isn't the only thing that is missing. Kaiv seems to lack emotion as to the surrounding events either happiness or sorrow and pain, the is practically no reaction. Kaiv also appears not to exist, the cortex does not list his existence and nor does he know why. Kaiv does have apparent skill in guns and fighting, but to his knowledge these skills have not been learnt by Kaiv, and are ingrained in his memory. He does however always carry a combat knife, which has "Убийца" inscribed on the blade, Kaiv doesn't seem to know what it means. |

Whoops! Sorry Drach. I was sitting at a weird angle to my laptop due to sleeping cat issues, so I couldn't see quite right. All of those were intended to be d6s. ^^; Fixed!

Current Job Seekers:
Thought this might be useful. Oh btw Trinity, the character sheet adds extra lines (after saving) for additional specialties, thought you'd like to know. And Drach, be careful, you do have editing permission for my sheet and I know how your phone likes eating things. I've lost were it said the GM can tack you with an That you have to leave a slot for.extra complication if you take Amnesia, might have been someones home-rule.

I was comparing the good doctors sheet to yours and noticed it and after testing it on my own, thought to share.
It will be quite interesting to see what happens when two 'Sweet and Cheerful' people get together, should you be accepted. I have this mental image of you both sitting together in the Mess chatting up a storm while the rest of the crew hide in their various haunts with their fingers in there ears "Their too happy! Make them stop!" Still not sure what equipment to purchase, wondering if I could build some of my own technical gadget thingy's. Though... I should start with clothes...

As to my own character. I reviewed the skill points, since it was late when i put them in and they didnt fit the character properly. Kaiv is meant to be a bit of an all rounder kinda handyman. But not particularly expertise level of skill as he is now. He can help pilot and with engine stuff, medical too but only on a basic level. All so dropped the twitchy complication. Seemed easier to play without me looking paranoid at everything. 2 happy characters make for some interesting times especially in combat etc |

Name: Kyle Decker
Age: 25 Gender: Male Skillset: Social/Covert Planned Assets: Reader (Minor) and Natural Linguist (Minor) Planned Complications: Overconfident (Minor), Portly (Minor), Memorable (Minor), Neatfreak (Minor), Allergy: Cats (Minor) Description Decker as he prefers to be called, is on the heavier side of things easily being around the mid two hundreds and not in the muscle bound way, leastwise he has broad shoulders and some height to balance himself out a bit but he would never pass for an athlete by any means. He has a middling skin tone, not the tanned of someone who spends a great deal of time outdoors but something in his genetic makeup, he has slightly larger green eyes that have a bright color to them and are hard to forget once you have seen them. Typically he is well dressed in tailored and fitted clothing, not so much that one would think him wealthy but enough that you would suspect he had some credits to his name, and he has a small collection of fine watches both of train conducting style and wrist types. Background His father a well off doctor and his mother a socialite led to an early life of privilege, though his mother's frequent bouts of headaches and migraines sometimes meant she would spend hours to days locked away in solitude or on retreats seeking to ease her pain, and with his father's long hours at his practice much of his youth was was spent largely unsupervised. This situation wasn't all that uncommon in his social circles, where nannies or servants did more of the parenting than the actual parents, more unique in his circumstance though was his being raised by a rather stiff throwback of a butler named Trevor. As gentleman's butler he was well versed in a seemingly endless number of skills and talents that made him practically indispensable, Decker swore he was more con man than servant for he was quite capable of running the house with efficiency and convincing his parents of whatever was required. Luckily they got along famously with Trevor taking a shining to Decker and teaching him the finer points of using influence, the value of things and even a shadier talent or two as well. He had a knack for business and studied economics and accounting in school, and became quickly known as the guy to go see if you were down on your luck and needed to sell a few things or if you were looking for somebody who could find and import something special, though much of his dealings where above board. He had a knack for negotiating with people often able to drive bargains that others wouldn't have been able to strike, he often had feelings about those he dealt with that helped him determine what they would pay for something allowing him to maximize his profits or commissions on a deal. He spent a few more years in school than most, not because did poorly but he simply found it profitable being there and he enjoyed the varied experiences it gave him, but after a time he knew it was time to move on so he graduated in the top ten percent of his class and tried to determine what to do next. Deciding that seeing some of the Verse' would be worthwhile he had started doing some research and after discussing it with Trevor decided his best chance for a worthwhile experience and to make some profit in the process was to link up with a captain needed somebody to balance the books, communications and provide some business acumen where needed.
