FYI for everyone, it seems like the AMW people have provided the playbooks as free downloads on their website.

Here's my WIP application.

Applications Actor's Name and Short Bio: Rouxné Steyn aka Roxy Stone. Roxy started out as an olympic athlete taking home the gold in Judo for South Africa. Unsatisfied with only that, she then moved to the USA and picked up kickboxing, launching an MMA career. After taking home two championship titles, running a semi successful podcast, winning Celebrity Iron Chef, and starring in her own Reality Show "Roundhousing Roxy", she started dating Actor/Musician/Model Aristedes "Ari" Quick after yet another of his many failed relationships. It was a bigger deal than anyone had anticipated, drawing an unexpected number of new fans to women's MMA. Amidst accusations that the relationship was fake in order to bolster both of their careers and that she was nothing but a fame chaser, Roxy was cast in her first acting role. That is, this role. If it doesn't go well... well, nothing really would happen. Plenty of athletes fail the transition to acting, after all, but it would probably be a blow to her public image. Also, she doesn't like losing. Character's Name: Maxine "Max" Bishop Character's Appearance: Maxine is a 6' tall buff blond woman, who wears a lot of tank tops with military-esque camouflage patterned pants. She somehow has always just enough sheen on her skin to show off her muscle definition in all situations. Playbook: The Musclehead Character Overview: Ex Soldier Ex Space Miner, who survived the slaughter of the rest of the survey crew only to end up stranded on an Alien Planet (tm). She fought there for years, but finally made it home just before the advent of invasion. Audition Tape:   The sun in setting on the puppy orphanage as the orphanage workers try as hard as they can to bar the door against the oncoming horde of alien zombies. Just as hope is lost, there is the sound of a helicopter whirring overhead, and then a tall muscular blond woman bursts in through the skylight, hanging from a rope ladder. Just as a small zombie alien squelches its way through a crack in the barricade and starts a squealing run towards the puppies, she jumps off, squishing it to mush under giant combat boots. It's Max Bishop, just in time. "You kids save yourselves", she says, "I'll take care of the puppies." The orphanage workers rush up the ladder as the barricade creaks. She raises her oddly glistening muscled arm up into the air, and just as the barricade bursts open she catches a flamethrower through the hole she made in the skylight, turning on the alien zombies. "How about a welcome barbecue?" She says as the zombies roast and die, somehow not setting the orphanage on fire. A puppy comes and starts chewing on some of the roasted alien meat. As the first wave dies down she bends down to pet the puppy at her feet on the head, then raises her other arm and catches a machine gun that gets tossed down through the same hole in the skylight. Dropping the flamethrower she scoops up her new puppy friend in her other muscley arm, it's still chewing on a cooked alien tentacle. She then uses her machine gun one handed to mow the next wave down through the door and push the horde back out into the street. She reloads her machine gun one handed as she still holds her puppy in the other, then steps over the alien zombie corpses and heads out the door, looking for more zombies to shoot. "Welcome to earth, !@#$%!-heads." She says to the dead zombie aliens under her feet, " Don't mess with our dogs." One of the zombies was still not quite dead as she steps over the pile of bodies and wraps a slimy tentacle around one boot, reaching up to try to get at her puppy with the other. She looks down at it as the puppy growls, then nonchallantly stomps on its head, killing it again. The rest of the puppies follow her out.

Application Actor name and short bio: Shae Connors is a storied actor who has brought gravitas to many an Oscar-bait film. They have some fan-favorite performances in B-movie cult classics early in their career, but it wasn't something they were keen to revisit. When they saw the way their kids' eyes lit up when they found out about this movie, though, they thought it might be nice to do a movie that would excite them instead of boring them to tears. Character name and appearance: Rook, a synthetic android, exceptionally designed to pass as human (and keep the costuming and effects budget down. Rook has a lean, weathered look that belies its robotic powers. Playbook: The Thespian Character Overview: Rook is a deep, philosophical thinker who draws attention to the movie's themes (such as they are) from an outsider's perspective. It is also underestimated on the basis of its appearance right up until it moves impossibly fast or punches through a wall. It might be a bodyguard/servant for Princess Kala or an observer on loan from a governmental or corporate entity. Audition Tape: In the background, characters bicker about what to do. The situation is desperate, with enemies on the verge of gaining control of the station. Rook is still, motionless aside from a rapid movement of the eyes that indicates all processing power has been devoted to working the problem. When it speaks, it is in a soft voice that requires everyone else to quiet down to hear what it is saying. "We have to blow the station. I have the blow the station." It makes a brief cutting motion, silencing objections. "I am the only one who can survive the radiation around the core and make the calculations to set off a chain reaction that will ensure the complete destruction of the station." "The odds of my survival are infinitesimal, but unlike so many organics who think that 'ageless' means 'immortal'"—a small, ironic smile flits across its lips—"I have always known that few beings have the privilege of living out a full, 'natural,' lifespan. Sooner or later, malfunction, accident, or plain obsolescence will claim me." Its head slowly turns on just one plane, taking in everyone. "Compared to that, an end of my choosing, one that gives you all a chance to live and end the threat of the Horror, is one I will accept with every atom of my being."

Finished my audition tape. Not entirely convinced it was quite over the top enough, but it was fun to write.

Okay, what playbook would work best if I want to create an Alyson Hannigan / Kristen Bell / Anna Kendrick type actress? She generally gets cast as the quirky, nerdy, introverted, socially-awkward sidekick who can be overshadowed by a leading lady, but is totally able to pull the 3rd act instant makeover where she whips off her glasses or puts on a fancy dress to go undercover and suddenly object of her unrequited love sees her in a new light. Y’know, the kind of thing that fanboys drool over, but makes fangirls groan and say “Seriously? What was wrong with the way she looked before?”

@rhaiber: A Smooth Operator would work well, since they focus on looks, charm, and charisma, though you could easily work that concept into whatever playbook you like best. For example, she could be a Gunslinger who inexplicably becomes an amazing shot when she dramatically removes her glasses and somehow gets different makeup in the process.

Don't worry too much about party balance. Use whatever playbook you like best-- it's fine to have duplicates in a Cast List.

Exactly! So the Smartass is the role of the wisecracker, and the Thespian would be the dramatic (or overdramatic) character.
