Finished my audition tape. Not entirely convinced it was quite over the top enough, but it was fun to write.

Okay, what playbook would work best if I want to create an Alyson Hannigan / Kristen Bell / Anna Kendrick type actress? She generally gets cast as the quirky, nerdy, introverted, socially-awkward sidekick who can be overshadowed by a leading lady, but is totally able to pull the 3rd act instant makeover where she whips off her glasses or puts on a fancy dress to go undercover and suddenly object of her unrequited love sees her in a new light. Y’know, the kind of thing that fanboys drool over, but makes fangirls groan and say “Seriously? What was wrong with the way she looked before?”

@rhaiber: A Smooth Operator would work well, since they focus on looks, charm, and charisma, though you could easily work that concept into whatever playbook you like best. For example, she could be a Gunslinger who inexplicably becomes an amazing shot when she dramatically removes her glasses and somehow gets different makeup in the process.
@Taxobob: AMAZING. |

I could also see the Hannigan/Kendrick type being a form of Smartass.

Thanks Kaigen!
Maybe I should change my guy into an Thespian? Would work better with his bio! |

Don't worry too much about party balance. Use whatever playbook you like best-- it's fine to have duplicates in a Cast List.

It seems to me that the playbooks have a lot more to do with the movie role than they do with actor bio, yeah?

Exactly! So the Smartass is the role of the wisecracker, and the Thespian would be the dramatic (or overdramatic) character.

If anyone wants to take a look at the playbooks and their abilities, I've started making a list here. Definitions for game terms and stats will be coming soon.
Also, the intro post has been updated with a table of applicants. Let me know if I've missed anything! Last edited by Pseudonymous; Oct 1st, 2024 at 11:45 PM. |
