The Bizarre Bazaar

While some of the places in The Pirates Cove were store fronts, most of the sellers were not tradesmen looking to ply their wares. No, most could be found in the bazaar. It was behind the main ship, and it was a large section of wooden planks with tent after tent. Some of the tents were sailors of a ship who had brought in too much food stuff and were looking to unload. Others were some of the local growers, humans mostly, though some goblins - not so much growers, more likely thieves, that would sell their things as well.

Some of the stranger hauls could be found in the bazaar as well. Magical and non magical oddities.

For the most part the Bazaar didn't have the magic shops that the mainland or even the larger ports did, but the items could be found. Shopping in the bazaar required a firm hand on ones purse, and a willingness to haggle, even sometimes barter.

The oddities could be found actually in the bazaar, but for the goods, the tents just showed a sampling. The actual transaction of the goods would be happening ship to ship. It meant that examining the individual food items was rarely done, but it all was based on the deal and the trust of the merchant. Or the lack thereof.

Some of the more expensive items, however, could be found in the bazaar, as could the things grown or raised by the poorer who lived upon the cove.

The smells of the bazaar were strong as well. Local bakers wishing to sell their meatcakes to the sailors who had gone for weeks without decent food.

The smells of the bazaar was something that Flick had always enjoyed. Every since he was a child. For many on the cove, the bazaar was a place of commerce. Somewhere for gold and silver to change hands, a place to sell there wares and swindel newcomers.

For Flick, it was something completely different. It was literally his backyard playground. Being located right outside the Empty Horde, his families inn as it were, gave him easy access to the paths and stalls ever since he was a youngling. His own personal stomping grounds where he had gathered with friends, well what few friends the goblin had known. As a goblin he had always been a little unusual, more disattached to his own race than most and he possessed what many considered an unhealthy curiousity for everything that came from what was known as the civilized races.

Despite being habitially on his guard, the small goblin visibly relaxed as the sights and sounds of the market greeted them. "Welcome to the Bizarre Bazaar Jaala, you'll never find a more viscious hiive of scum and villiany,.. always wanted to say that." he quiped with a smile before following his nose to a nearby herb and spice stand he knew to be owned by one of the locals.

"First the essentials, have to have seasonings."

Jaala

Saliva began to form in Jaala mouth long before they reach the bazaar. The various aromas of food beckoned her stomach causing her to realize that she was a bit hungry. However, caution instinctively signaled by past experience that this place was a haven of thieves; a place after her own heart.

In reply to Flick Jaala stated with a snarl You have never been to an orc wedding as she followed the goblin towards the herb and spice stand.

Now this is what I wanted. A few spices always enriches most meals. Jaala began to examine the different spices and herbs asking questions about those she has never sensed.

There are lots of different spices to be seen here. Most are just samples, as most would be selling their spices, such as sugar, in bulk from ship to ship, but the rarer spices, the ones that add the most flavor, that cannot be found in bulk, are actually sold here.

Flick knew some of the locals and was able to find the various spices that he wanted.

As Jaala looked about, she even noticed that in other parts of the Bazaar were some dealers of more "unique" items, perhaps even carrying the magical items she was hoping for.

Eventually, as Flick and Jaala had been collecting the various spices they had hoped to find for their own personal usage, they noticed Keveran and Morgan coming into the Bazaar.

As Morgan looked around the Bazaar, she didn't see a tailor exactly, but she did see some dealers of clothing. Perhaps some would suit her needs.

oocTell me what you want to buy. We dont have to roleplay every purchase. Some will, some won't.

Morgan was tired of the ragged clothes she'd been forced to wear, and so far had not located her previous attire. What's more she had enough money to buy several new outfits, and one thing she hadn't had before being pressganged into service on the Wormwood; a place to store them. So she was looking for several outfits, easy to move in, with extra pockets if possible (pockets were always useful for a woman in her line of work), light and breathy, but with a heavier coat or jacket for when it was extra chilly. And a hat. She thought a unique hat would be a good way to complete her look, something easily recognizable and not like one anyone else would be wearing.

Morgan finds a couple of people that have clothes that fit her that all together fit what she want for a total of 75 gold. It consists of three "outfits". One, an every day ships outfit. A second one, with a warmer jacket, and two different and unique hats, and finally multiple pouches and pockets for what she needs. Most of the cost (30 gold of it) is the two hats.

Jaala

When the opportunity arises Jaala asks Morgan if she is capable of casting a continous flame on her newly acquired ioun stones.

Jaala moves around the bazaar looking for a varitey of staples: Pepper, vinegar, olive oil, salt, honey, raisins, dry corn, sidepork, berry bread, limes or lemons, cheese, rice and onions.

Once the most of the staples are found she looks for a small barrel of wine.

Next she looks for small pigs, guinea pigs, feed for them and cage to keep them within on the ship.

Finally she looks around for stubborn nails.

Morgan, sporting a brand new outfit, with more in a satchel over her shoulder, smiled when Jaala approached with her question, but then shook her head, "I don't know that **** yet." She admitted. "But if you helped me find the spell, I could cast it for you a few times; no charge, of course."

Kevaran took his time wandering the shops of the Bazaar, primarily keeping to the food vendors while keeping an eye out for ship supplies, though for the moment he contented himself with purchasing the things he had wrote down on his list while still on the shoreboat. He looked for the best offers, and used the most of his halfling charm to haggle over deals, hoping to outfit the Wormwood, if not properly, at least well enough until their first haul.

jaala and morgan

Jaala is able to get most of the staples she was looking for for 50 gold. Berry Bread, Olive Oil, and honey were the most expensive. Personal stock assumes two weeks of voyage.

For another 25 gold she is able to purchase the livestock and feed as well as the cage for them.

When she and Morgan have finished their basic shopping, Morgan discovers a stall that is selling some magical oddities. Among them are the stubborn nails that Jaala was looking for. She is able to get four stubborn nails for a total of 350 gold. Additionally, this same stall does have a few scrolls of continual light. There are three total. Each one sells for 150 gold, and no amount of bartering lowered the price on those.

flick

For the spices listed, Flick is able to acquire them for 75 gold. (some of them were pricier and rarer)
Carrots, Potatos, and Onions can be found for 50 gold (assuming a personal stock for 2 weeks). No fruits were found.

All the 'other' items could be found for another 25 gold.

The meats were more expensive, but could be found for another 75 gold.

keveran
Keveran you are able to find supplies for the ship. We can handle the individuals in your private thread. You would be wise to buy cheaper goods and a greater quantity, as you dont know how many recruits Thomas will find.

The shopping takes the rest of the day, and by the time the sun begins to set, you are all tired. Wandering around the Bazaar takes more energy out of you than you would like. Thomas might have already returned to the wormwood, you dont know.

If you head back to the wormwood, let me know and I will begin the reposting in that thread.

oocI know we're ok with the less than frequent posts, but this was too long in between posts, and id like to start to get the game moving.

Jaala

When the merchange mentions the price of the scroll Jaala lifts her head and does a mental count on her coins. Nodding she looks at Morgan Want to split the cost? Jaala figures that Morgan can transcribe the scroll to her spellbook and be able to cast it multiple times; a benefit to the whole ship.

Jaala organizes her food supplies placing them in her backpack or within sacks and pouches that hang off her belt. Jaala places an individual stubborn nail into each shealth (one on each wrist and each thigh) along side normal iron pitons and wooden stakes. The small wine barrel rests at her feet.

Jaala now satisified awaits the others to head back to the ship.

"Yeah, we can split that ****." Morgan assured Jaala before heading back to the ship with the others.

oocYou will still need to make the spellcraft checks to copy it into your book. If you fail, the spell isn't lost, but you cannot try again the same day. It takes 24 hours to copy spells into books. The DC is a 17. Taking 10 will be allowed.
