Nerof Gasgal - Lord Mayor of GreyhawkNerof Gasgal is an attractive, charming man, 5’9“ tall, with graying hair. He dresses in conservatively cut, but extremely expensive, clothing. He appears to be a trustworthy, able businessman who is in politics only for the good of his beloved city.

As mayor, Nerof is popular and well-respected. His attention attention to detail makes it difficult for anyone not in his favor to cheat or oppress citizens. He is demanding of his staff, but does not spare himself, routinely working twelve-hour days. He takes bribes freely, but his theory is to “let both sides pay bribes, then judge the case on its merits.”

His goals as Mayor of Greyhawk are to make the city run as smoothly as possible and to be remembered as the best Mayor in the city’s history. The old rich don’t hold him in the same regard as the new rich, and he is snubbed as much as the upper classes dare due to his lower-class accent and the “vulgar” origins of his wealth (the gaming house).

The nobility secretly sneer at him, but no one forgets what happened to one wealthy family so unwise as to shun him publicly: Thieves descended repeatedly upon their house; several family members died mysteriously; and their business competitors exhibited uncanny knowledge of their business plans. This did not stop until the whole family was reduced to beggary.

Kieren Jalucian - Master of the Guild of WizardryKieren is 6'3" tall, weighs 200lbs and appears to be in his early 30's. His true age is unknown, although he is undoubtedly very old indeed. He is a large, heavy-set man who sports a mane of sandy blond hair and dresses in colourful, billowing roves of the finest Celenian silks. Kieren is fastidious about his appearance, always appearing clean-shaven and smelling of the finest scents and perfumes.

Kieren enjoys life to the fullest, and is equally at home in the lowest dive of the River Quarter or at the most fashionable social gathering or cultural event in the High Quarter. Kieren cultivates an almost frivolous attitude to his work, which belies the seriousness and conviction in which he undertakes it. This attitude has made him much more approachable than the average studious and condescending mage, and he has become a great favourite of the people and has done a great deal to improve the public image of the magical arts, which most people still distrust.

Kieren is very much enamoured of Jallarzi Sallavarian, and the two of them will often be spotted touring the town on Kieren's carpet of flying, or dining at the Golden Phoenix. Kieren can be encountered virtually anywhere in the city, sometimes in disguise and often in the company of Jallarzi.

Minra Zaughym - Librarian, Guild of WizardryFirst-time visitors to the library are often shocked when they gaze upon the sharp aquiline features, inky black skin, white hair and piercing blue eyes beneath the librarian's cowl - for Minra is a renegade drow who is devoted to the cataloguing and maintenance of the guild's library of magical texts. Although she does not speak of the time before when she lived in the city, it can be surmised that she was a former adventurer and practitioner of the magical arts herself.

Minra is well respected for her knowledge of the contents, history and wherabouts of magical texts is second to none. Her devotion to her work has led her to view most others as her inferiors, perhaps a trait of her long lived race; she has little respect for anyone but acknowledged practitioners of "the Art".

Org Nenshen - Master of the Greyhawk Thieves GuildOrg is 43 years olf, 5'9" tall and 180lbs. Org is a graceful man with blond hair, violet eyes and tan skin. He always dresses well and likes to keep himself in shape, regularly training at the Thieves' Guildhall. Org was an apprentice thief at the same time as Nerof Gasgal. The two have been friends since their early days, and they are now two of the most powerful and influential men in the city.

Org still actively pursues a thieving career despite his advancing years and vaunted position.

Org will be frequently encountered in conversation with Nerof at the Wheel of Gold. Not a great man for the arts, Org will only attend cultural events within the city when his position on the Directing Oligarchy demands it.

The Circle of Eight
BigbyBigby is nearly 58 years old. He stands 5'11" tall and weighs 149 pounds. His hair is light brown, and his eyes are dark brown. He has Oeridian facial features, although his skin is pale and he is extremely gaunt. He is quiet, introverted, soft-spoken, and appears perpetually nervous and overly cautious about everything. "I think we should be very careful about what we're about to do" is his pet phrase. He is puritanical and ascetic, eschewing pleasures of the flesh.

Bigby was born in the town of Oldridge in approximately 534 CY. He traveled to the Wild Coast early in life and became an apprentice of Mordenkainen. Together, the two founded the Citadel of Eight in 561 CY.

In 570 CY, Bigby ventured beneath Castle Greyhawk with Tenser and Neb Retnar in an attempt to stop Robilar's scheme to release the demigod Iuz from Zagyg's Godtrap. They arrived too late to prevent the release, but acted to help Robilar finish the weakened cambion off. Although Bigby nearly succeeded in destroying Iuz's physical body with his Crushing Hand spell, Iuz managed to teleport away at the last minute.

In 571 CY, Mordenkainen and Bigby founded the Circle of Eight. Bigby was forced to leave his tower in Oldridge in 573 thanks to intrigue with Xaene, then court wizard to Ivid V, causing him to relocate to Scant. There, he posed as a merchant of rare goods and built an alliance within the Iron League.

At some point, a large statue of Bigby was constructed in the otherworldly city of Sigil, although it is far from clear how this came to be.

DrawmijDrawmij is 63 years old, although he appears to be a young man in his late twenties or early thirties. His hair is sandy blond and his eyes are so blue that they're nearly purple. He stands six feet tall and weighs 172 pounds. His features possess an undefinable unsettling quality, and more than a few of those who know him have perceived something subtly different about him each time they meet - the shade of his eyes, his height, even the thickness and curl of his hair. Rary calls these his "troubling inconsistencies".

Drawmij wears magical robes of cool colors, favoring elven designs.

For the last decade or so, Drawmij has focused on the theories of chronomancy, magic involving the manipulation of time. He has grown increasingly eccentric of late.

Drawmij has a close connection to Duke Luschan of Gradsul, who may be a relative of his. Drawmij also spends time with the Hierophant Sverdras Meno, a druid of the Old Faith who oversees the Azure Sea.

Drawmij has many contacts among the minstrels and bards of Celene, though few in the capital of Enstad admit to knowing him. Drawmij has few known agents, but he knows much more about Keoland and its client states than it seems like he should.

Drawmij has an enduring hatred of Jaran Krimeeah, the Mage of the Valley of the Mage, and is forever trying to persuade other members of the Circle of Eight to help him kill the wily archmage once and for all. Jallarzi Sallavarian has suggested to Otto that Drawmij's true enmity is for Tysiln San, Jaran's mistress, though the reasons for this are unknown.

Jallarzi SallavarianJallarzi is an attractive woman in her mid-forties. She stands 5', 7", and her pale skin and curly honey-blonde hair betray her nearly pure Suel heritage. She prefers comfortable clothes of silk or satin, often wearing fashionable breeches rather than skirts. Her outfits are often complemented by a pair of bracers of red dragon hide, set with bloodstones and bound with platinum filagree.

Jallarzi was born in 549 CY into a minor noble family in the Duchy of Urnst. In her teen years, she studied magic under both the Seer of Urnst and Warnes Starcoat.

Sometime in the 570s, Jallarzi made her way to Greyhawk, where she studied under, and became good friends with, Tenser the archmage. Thanks to her training and natural talent, Jallarzi soon became the youngest wizard ever inducted into Greyhawk's Society of Magi. At some point during this period, Jallarzi became fast friends with another female mage, a native of Greyhawk named Marial, and also began a romantic relationship with Kieren Jalucian, master of Greyhawk's Guild of Wizardry.

In 581 CY, thanks to heavy lobbying by Tenser, Jallarzi became the youngest, and first female member of Circle of Eight, filling the seat left empty by Bucknard two years before.

NystulNystul is 53 years old. He stands 6'7" tall and weighs 184 pounds. His lank, uncombed hair is mousy brown in hue, and his features are rather plain, with Flan features and an Oeridian's olive complexion. He has been described as a "ridiculous gangling beanpole," a condition which has inspired him to specialize in magic that disguises his appearance. He often travels disguised as a demure half-elven maiden, a form in which he flirts with chivalrous knights and paladins in order to gain their protection.

Nystul is a flippant sort with a preference for puns and quips that tend to annoy his colleagues Mordenkainen, Bigby, and Drawmij. Nystul is intelligent, subtle, and profound, however, with an unerring tactical sense.

Nystul was born to a family of well-connected nobles in the city of Nevond Nevnend. His family's better-connected enemies brought them low, however, charging them with sedition and insurgency in the court of the then-ruling Duke Pet'yeu of Tenh. The nobles in Nystul's house were tried for treason, and the house was disbanded.

Nystul was secreted away by servants and raised in a small monastery of Pholtan monks on the border of the Pale, near the Phostwood. A clever old cleric called Friar Nemonicus, obsessed with the powers of light and darkness, encouraged young Nystul's gift for magic and provided him with a permanent protection from evil enhancement. When he came of age, the monks paid for Nystul to study in the Sorcerous Union in Radigast City. There, Nystul befriended Otto. After graduating, Nystul built a home in Redspan and took on apprentices of his own. It was not long before Mordenkainen offered him membership of the Circle of Eight in 571 CY.

OtilukeOtiluke stands just over 5 feet tall, with short black hair, a thin beard, and brown eyes. He is well-dressed, but appeared rather puny. Small and weak, he's one of the few humans who could wear a magical item called gauntlets of kobold power and have it actually benefit him tremendously. It was probably intended as one of those cursed items you can't take off, but Otiluke loved his.

Otiluke is not a wise man, either. He is, of all the Circle, the least endowed with common sense. Mentally, he is brilliant, the match for Tenser and Bigby in sheer intellectual prowess, but some of his ideas are a few tankards short of a keg.

Otiluke is a member of the Circle of Eight, president of Greyhawk City's Society of Magi, and a member of that city's Directing Oligarchy. Imiric von Suss-Varren, a gnomish count of the Principality of Ulek, once served Otiluke as a henchman. He also lived with a young woman named Glorial, who served him as an apprentice and concubine.

Otiluke was born in early Patchwall of 542 CY. Some time around mid-573, he purchased a home in the City of Greyhawk, a townhouse in the Foreign Quarter on Summoner Court. In 576, he joined the Circle of Eight.

OttoOtto is a short, rotund man, with shoulder-length, curly hair, and a well-groomed mustache. He tends to dress in fine, expensive garb.

Originally a priest of Boccob, in Almor, Otto soon found he had an uncanny knack for wizardry, and became quite skilled in the arcane arts. At the secret prompting of Mordenkainen, Otto became a henchman of Robilar's, for a time.

Otto is known to be a lover of fine foods and music. He owns a manor house in Greyhawk City's Garden Quarter. Otto is a generous patron of the arts.

RaryRary is a man of mixed Baklunish and Suel stock, six feet tall, 170 lbs, with auburn hair, bright green eyes, and a tanned complexion. He looks decades younger than he did ten years ago; though he is in his eighties, he appears as if he were in his fifties. This is a new development; formerly, Rary had allowed his aging to follow its natural course. Rary is not vain, but he knows his plans may take many decades to come to fruition and is prepared for every eventuality. He favors tan robes with intricate gold patterns.

Rary is characterized by thoughtful contemplation. He disliked those who acted foolishly or rashly - Otiluke was a particular target of his scorn, though even Mordenkainen is too volatile for Rary's tastes.

Rary's intellect is virtually unmatched in the Flanaess, exceeding that of many gods (not to mention that of his old associate Mordenkainen).

Born around 511 CY in Ket, Rary was known as a quiet, dignified scholar and a skilled mediator and peacemaker. He was a living legend in his homeland, and held in the greatest respect by the Paynims, and would confer with their shamans and wise men, telling them tales of their past. The frequency of Paynim raids into Ket decreased dramatically because of his influence.

TenserTenser is medium-sized, with brown hair and an aquiline nose. He is always dressed in blue. He is polite and outgoing, but is willing to enforce his will on others for the sake of Law and Good.

Tenser was born 525 CY, purportedly in the Wild Coast town of Fax. At some point after 551 CY, he was recruited by Mordenkainen and Bigby to join the Citadel of Eight. After the death of his good friend and fellow Citadel member Serten in 569 CY, the Citadel dissolved. Tenser joined forces with Bigby and Mordenkainen once more in 574 CY when he joined the Circle of Eight, replacing Leomund.

In 570 CY, Tenser accompanied Bigby and Neb Retnar beneath Greyhawk Castle in an unsuccessful attempt to prevent Robilar, Riggby, and Quij from freeing the demigod Iuz from Zagyg's Godtrap.

In 579 CY, Robilar sacked the Temple of Elemental Evil, freeing the demoness Zuggtmoy in the process. In retribution, Tenser, Otis, Rufus, and Burne led an army of good-aligned forces in pursuit of his former companion, following him back to his castle and laying siege to it, defeating his armies and driving them from the Domain of Greyhawk to the Pomarj.
