Greetings, my name is Alex and I have a major dnd itch that needs to be scratched. I have an unpredictable work schedule which makes in person gaming very difficult. Hope to find an awesome game with some awesome people!

If you can handle the slower pace then you will find games here. DnD5e seems pretty popular so dont give up on those applications.

Oh and is Okra kind of violent where you live?

 

• New game adverts are like the weather in that there might be a pattern and overall consistency to them, but like the weather droughts and floods can and do occur.
• Real Life is also like the weather so leave yourself time for the expected and unexpected, don't overextend yourself and the same applies to those you play with.
• Games can get lots of applications and you will be passed over, treat it as a bad roll and move on
• The solo game is a great intro - do one. You can also join other games early on but be upfront about your experience
• Some real soloists play Ironsworn Give it a whirl...
• Wow - even more free fun what are you waiting for
• What even more gaming opportunities
• Give XP when you see or read something you like (the scales icon on the top right of every post)
• The staff are kind but human so don't ignore the rules, smackdowns can be public
• Not having the rules available can stop one wanting to join a less popular system

A great way to start scratching that itch is to sign up for a New Player Solo Game. You'll be matched up with a volunteer GM who will take you through a short scenario in any of the 9 systems offered. It gives you a great overview of the standards for posting, gaming and coding on the site, and you can finish it up as you start applying for and getting into other games.

But that's just my suggestion There's no wrong way to dip your toe into the site. Enjoy exploring and starting to game here as you see fit. Hope to see you around the boards!

Fighting Okra is the most unique mascot I have ever found and have adopted it as my username anywhere I venture online.

Howdy FightingOkra,

Is that why okra is a bit on the slimy side, so it can slip out of holds while fighting? Tell us a bit more about yourself. What RPG system(s) do you prefer? What genre (fantasy, sci fi, horror, etc.) are your favorites. Do you prefer games that tell stories or hack and slash? How much RPG and PbP experience do you have? Brie or feta?

This is a great place to scratch your RPG itch and interact with some great DMs and players, even with your schedule. There is some incredible role playing going on here. I thought I was a a pretty good story teller, but I have been put to shame by the quality of many of the players...and I have learned a lot. I sent a link to one such site I've been lucky enough to be a part of below. You should check out the Hall of Fame games over the years for others.

You may want to check out a solo game. Even if you have PbP experience each site is a bit different.

This is a place where the people are welcoming, where the games are interesting, and where generally they only expect you to post a few times a week. I've been playing D&D for a very long time and I thought I've seen it all, but this site has some amazing games going on. I've been playing (storytelling as much as rolling) for a bit over two years now in a game that has been going on continuously for four decades, started tabletop and moved online two decades ago. It's set in an alternate Europe where the worlds of Tolkien and Howard existed in ages past. So there is a hint of LOTR and a hint of Conan in it and since it's set in an alt Europe it somehow feels familiar.

This is just one example and there are other great campaigns on RPGX. You should take some time to "stroll around" the site and see if anything catches your eye.

Not bad, actual. Not slimy, but pricey for the amount of food you get.

Alas, it has insufficient tensile strength to be used as a weapon against most foes you are likely to encounter in games on this site.
