Had my interview today, went really well! Had answers for everything, even the tricky "What criteria would you use when selecting new species for the zoo to exhibit" type questions. Very hopeful and excited! I've got other positions going to interview soon, but a dream job is a dream job. And working in the heart of Sydney would be much more exciting than my little town.

On another note, if you ever feel I'm moving you along too fast and you want to keep roleplaying just let me know.

So, I'm getting around to actively building Rone (it looks like it'll be pretty necessary soon!), and... um...

I will never have enough feats to get all the ones I'm interested in. o_o;; I wasn't expecting shield-fighting feats! Those are something I've really wanted to explore with him! I thought I was going to have to go two-weapon-fighting (the whole track) to go for those bonuses. Guess not!

... 'Course, that'll make some of the other things I was interested in less feasible, and I'll never be satisfied with his skill set. :/ I am torn between the awesome feats available to a Fighter... and the skill set offered by the Barbarian. So planning ahead might be a little difficult. Fortunately, all I really have to worry about right now is picking one feat. Okay, two feats. Still.

I gotta warn you: Rone may not be the most effective Fighter ever built. He focuses Longsword but his best score is Dexterity, and he will always prefer light armor over heavier types (making Dexterity a continued focus for defense).

Are there certain feats that probably won't be useful? For instance, I've seen a lot of DMs throw out the "drawing a weapon is a move action" thing, and just let it happen regardless - which is cool, except for the guy that picked up Quick Draw without realizing that was the case. See also the guy that picks up Run, only to discover that the extra multiplier on that action never, ever comes into play. Or the one that chose Endurance but never faced the very specific set of survival challenges it was designed to face. (Spoiler: I've been all of those guys) I know we DMs sometimes like to say that we tailor a campaign to our PCs so all their choices are valid... but we also all have our personal preferences and tendencies, and if I can build to those tendencies instead of against them, I think we'll all be a little happier with the experience.

Go fighter. Shield has a lot of cool feats and barbs are feat starved.
Also fighter has some cool archetypes.

Oh, I'm totally going Fighter! Fighter is and always will be Rone's primary class. I'm just considering picking up a level or two of Barbarian down the line, though mostly for access to Rage, Acrobatics, and 2 extra skill points. And I could do without the Rage.

Forgot all about Traits, though! So maybe I can make up for a bit of that lack of skill. For now. :/

Really wish I could do something like trade weapon proficiencies (like, most of them) for skill points per level. I'm not likely to use more than four weapon types, anyway - and one of those is a shield! Unless... I guess... something really separates Rone from all his equipment and he just has to use what he finds. Haven't seen that happen to any of my characters yet, though.

@Dragoon: I don't think I've ever needed the Quick Draw feat for any character on this site.

Why? You can always drop into your IC post that had your weapon out already in most situations. Take our previous couple weeks in game, for example.

Guard duty for a caravan? Of course your sword is out, you're paid to guard, right?
Strange noise near the campfire while having evening meal? Oh, you were cleaning your sword just then.
Movement in the trees, in the middle of the night, while you're on watch? Of course your weapon was out, you're on watch.

I've never known anyone to take Run, and need it ever, except for as a prereq for another feat. I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone take it at 1st level. Or 10th, or 20th for that matter, unless a Prestige class demanded it.

Run is actually very helpful for mobile fighters/rogues. Even better it is given free with an elf alternate trait. Best thing about it is to move without losing ac, acrobatics over cover and land into stealth where you then proceed to snipe ;-p
