@Everyone: The game thread has been approved, so I can finally announce the application deadline-- April 27th at Midnight MT. For all of you that are here early, that's a ways out, but that's what its got to be for me to do some of the back-end stuff. Luckily for you, I promise to give all of you early apply-ers a review/feedback (if you're interested in it)!

I'll answer the specific questions in my next post!

Thats good news im mostly away for next couple weeks and not much time to post. If you want to look overwhat I posted eariler and share your thoughts on the base idea, that be great. I still need to update/taylor the app for this game, but theres enought there I hope that should be enough to get a look/feel. As for npc class, Adept will mostikely be it.

Showing some interest, currently writing up a commoner with a possible bright future in manipulating ki. Going to be kind of a fun The real one, the Last Airbenderavatar-like character. Unfortunately no mechanical room to cram in elements or anything like that.

Name: Aswall
Race: Ugnar: A tall, broad shouldered creature that broadly resembles a human. With the exception of their skin, black as coal; eyes which are a solid dark grey and the shining silver hair present in all of their kind.
(Rule wise I'll use the half orc or maybe the elf template)
Age: 16
Initial Class: Aristocrat

Description and Personality: Cold at a glance, but this is a defense mechanism, he feels too much is his problem. Though you could call it a strength, its probably why he was selected to come to the academy. The empathy he feels when someone is wronged, the guilt he feels for inaction. Seeing evil go unpunished just eats and rots at his soul. And this is definitely why he's the man he is now. Because of those ten years where the evil went on and on and on, while he just stood there and let it happen. Enjoying the bed and the food that sick man provided him.

Aswall is still slow to act though he considers it a flaw, he tends to play memories over and over again in his head. He tends to plan and predict different scenarios his actions might bring about. Spending so much time in his own head leads him to have a quiet and smooth exterior, he's been told that he radiates a very calming aura. Though when he acts, when he really makes up his mind to do something, he can be very extreme. Violent, merciless, even gleeful in a sadistic way. Righteous fury, he has a heart full of righteous fury that's how mother described it.

 

People say there was some kind of great power that could be wielded with the right set of machinery, magic, and science. Many different countries were racing to discover it, wanting to use the power for their own end, and somehow it got released everywhere. There's probably some people who know more details, more exactly what happened, who could show you the math; but not where Aswall grew up. All that's known for sure is that people all around the world had godawful night terrors one night, and when they awoke they found almost everyone dead. There bodies charred and black as if by some great fire. In addition almost every city was leveled over night. All weighed together only about 1 in four people were alive the next morning, and that's 1 in 4 people who were outside outside urban environments. Maybe one century after this night of terror Aswall was born.

Aswalls mother lived near a large settlement, in a small shack about half a days travel away, as a woman living by herself she felt this was safer since few knew exactly where she lived. Besides the only skill she had was foraging in the dessert, she needed to be out a ways for that anyway. Aswall knows nothing of his father. His mother would sob or yell whenever he was brought up so Aswall learned quick to not bring him up. As hermits he didn't realize what an abnormality a woman with a child but no husband was anyway.

Together with his mother they scraped out a living in the dessert, a toddler at the time Aswall didn't contribute too much, but he likes to believe he helped. He was five years old the day they were taken. There was a wealthy man from the settlement, nearly a thousand cattle to his name, half a hundred workers, and an influential place in the council that ruled the city. He was out for a drive when he noticed young Aswall's mother, enchanted by her exotic beauty he decided then and there she was his wife. He pulled her into his car, but was reluctantly persuaded to bring her son too; the young mother threatened to kill him in his sleep, or failing that take her own life. He gave in, after all having many sons was a show of status, and nobody would doubt him if he claimed the kid as a bastard offspring.

Life at the man's ranch wasn't awful, Aswall was ignored by his new 'father' for the most part, and even managed to form close bonds with some of his step siblings. Still Aswall hated the fat ranch owner very much, he would beat his wives and his servants, he would threaten and insult his children for no reason. Evil. He was a sick, evil man. And Aswall was just a powerless little boy, so he kept his mouth shut, he let the fat evil man hurt people. What could he do other then accept it? He learned swordplay from a step sibling but that was more a cathartic thing then any form of preparation. The hours and hours a day he sliced up dummies was just exercise nothing more, he wasn't going to kill his father until the day his mother told him not too.

She almost never left the house, so when she came limping towards him in the yard with her head down she absolutely ensnared his attention. She pleaded with him not to do something stupid that would end his life, she told him his death would hurt her more then anything the evil man did. Aswall heard the words, took one look at his mothers sad, tired eyes, then went straight to the dining room. His father had his neck sliced open before he could even finish a yell.

It was the greatest moment of Aswalls life, the rush, the joy the utter satisfaction he felt was indescribable. Even killing two of his stepbrothers when they panicked and tried to seize him couldn't damper his joy. When he came down from his high he knew he had to do something. His mother would be devastated to see him hang, so he made a quick plan.

It was easy really, nobody liked his father all the much, and recent events left Aswall his oldest living son, his natural heir. So he gathered up the workers and he gave them some good news. From now on they'd receive 10lbs of meat a week as pay, opposed to their former 4, from now on every 20th calf born would be raffled amongst them and given as a bonus, from now on these were his lands and his cattle. Nobody made much fuss.

A lynch mob did form but from the town, not the ranch, and when it became clear that his new employees would fight to defend him the execution was cancelled. For the first time in a long time Aswall was happy. He lived as boss/mayor for over a year when a letter came.

From across the room Aswall stared blankly at the little white envelope on his nightstand. At first he thought maybe his eyes were playing tricks on him, after all the room was dim. The night outside was black and his candle didn't provide that much light. He took one step closer, but it was still there, it didn't turn into a shadow or something that belonged on the nightstand.

His mind began racing as he moved backwards to press his back to the wall. Nobody was supposed to enter his room, granted a few people could and he wouldn't care, leaving a letter here doesn't seem like something his mother would do... maybe one of his sisters? That made sense, though they could just give it to him in person so why this? He pulled the pistol from his pants and craned his neck as he walked through the room. It was irrational and he knew it, but there definitely a few people bitter that they didn't get his neck in a noose, an assassin wasn't impossible.

Once satisfied the room was empty he tore the letter open. A joke. He finally decided, a cruel spirited joke, a not so subtle jab saying 'you aren't the hero you think you are!' So how to handle it? He could just throw it into the fire, he was tempted, it was late after all. He could ask around and maybe find out who wrote the envelope or at least who brought it into his room. What then, what would he do if he found out... He sat on the bed motionless for maybe fifteen minutes. Pondering whether to have the perpetrator caned, fired, mocked or killed. Though he dismissed this last option almost immediately the first seemed quite tempting.

He finally moved, only to stretch him arms and his back a bit. In a rare moment of compulsion he decided write on the little line. Maybe he'd have it left in the senders room, just to put the fear in them, to show them he had found them. When the second paragraph appeared his confidence vanished, his miscalculation snapped his brain wide awake. Carefully, he read its message.

She had not yet developed much of a sense of self or a desire of personal pursuits. Her taught principles keep her at an arm’s length from contact with others, but she is more than willing to intervene in matters of diplomacy to break up fights and return people to working members of society. Background: Hailing from the world of Ardein in a time of calm before an inevitable war between the forces of evil, Ashai was born in a relatively safe frontier town. Born in a monastery in the town of Huntsrow within the domain of the Valosian triarchy on its northern-most border. She was granted to the church as part of a twinned blessing, Ashai and her twin brother, Thomas, were split apart from birth to fulfil two sides of the same destiny. Her brother was raised into the realm of conflict to wrench forceful control of aggression to a peaceful resolution. While Ashai herself was raised in seclusion, a project for the monks to make her an example of peace and selfless compassion to make the world follow her example. To do this, the monks taught her many vows to strip away worldly feelings that would bring enlightenment to a normal human, but to one with an archon’s blood, could possibly bring order to the world itself. Such trainings continued for a long while until... RP Sample:   Everything changed. The halls of stone around me are now filled with such life and heat. Where once there was only the scent of incense, and the sound of sandals scuffing the tiles. Now there is worry, yes...I can almost feel it, but the masters continued to say I was not ready and the powers cannot yet be unleashed. He of course spoke with worry in his voice. The solar medallion on his chest sparkled with light, the very symbol of Quora’s Solar Order, those that taught the justice of compassion. I rose to my feet and straightened the cord at my waist, dismissing the radiant light from my robes, "Is it my time to save everyone?" "No, not today." He said, he came forth and grabbed my sleeve, tugging me along at a rather spry pace for an aged monk. I could only look around in confusion as he pulled me through several halls, halls I have not been through, worlds I have not seen outside of that room that I am privy to for the first time since birth. I did not fight back though my footsteps grew heavy. He pushed through a heavy wooden door and handed me a staff, likely for traveling and we stepped out into a world of white. I heard of this before, I have read the scriptures given to me. The crushed feeling beneath my feet that I feared was a chitinous bug, was instead the crystalline whiteness spread before me, snow. Oh how I wished I had the time to reflect, but the elderly monk pushed me forward, urging once more, "You must go...there is a lake, to the south-east. Frozen over as it is, help will come to you there. You must be patient child of light." Until now he was clutching my sleeve like Quora demanded it. I turned back to see tears streaming from his blue eyes, and being caught in that grey scruff on his chin below. Over his head, I saw the outside of the monastery home, and above the steeples I could see a rising smoke. He pushed a scroll into my hand and urged once more, "Go...you are too bright to be ruined by this darkness." He turned away after making the deepest bow I have seen out of the monks before returning within the monastery and slamming the door behind him. I was given little time to respond, I did not know why we were parting, or why smoke was coming from whence I came. All I knew how to do was to face forward and trudge on. And so I did, toward the cold lake and to read that which I was bidden to read.
