Two teleporters could make all kinds of mischief. Perhaps we can even spend a few points to make sure our powers work well with one another. Up to the GM, of course. =)

Ok, so here's a bit of a background story on "Gateway", as told by the Narrator in his head.

"Damian discovered his powers quite by accident when he fell off the roof of his parent's house while trying to put up the Christmas lights (something he really didn't want to do but his parents insisted). He found that instead of hitting the ground and breaking his legs, or something else equally unpleasant, he saw a brief flash of light and then he was standing on the ground right next to the ladder. His parents, of course, didn't believe him. They thought he was just playing another prank with his imagination, like the one time he had made up the idea of his goldfish being picked up by aliens so he would not have to explain why it was suddenly dead after only one week in the tank, all by itself.

So, as time went on he explored his abilities with practice and attention. Not only was he able to create openings in space where he could climb through and find himself at another place, he could control where they appeared, how large they were, and fast they moved. He discovered that these little "openings" could carry things around, and even let him reach things at a distance. He could even make things go fast or slow after they went through the openings. The practical applications for his ability were unlimited. Or, well, limited to his imagination. Ok, so yeah, they were a bit limited. But he was getting better at them. Soon he was spending time at the local gym after hours, working out and getting stronger.

He started to practice his abilities lightly during the evenings, like new "vigilantes" did in the comic books. He figured he would try it on easy things, like muggings and purse snatchers. Specially the ones who rode up to you with their motorcycles and took your purse before you knew it. He did alright for a first attempt, but his inexperience cost him a few bruises and broken ribs. After that, he understood that if he was going to do this "heroing" thing in earnest, he would need to get some good practice at it, and get really good. Problem was, he didn't want to work it too hard. After all, it was still nice to sleep in on Saturday mornings.

A few more years passed and he found himself in college. This is where his time was well spent. In addition to his academic pursuits, he would occasionally make himself known as "Gateway", a portal-blinking superhero. Only on weekends, of course. He did alright for a few years. It was during this time that he met "Brasher", a headstrong super-speedster, and "Lady Emerald", a flying light manipulator. They pooled their resources together and became the "Midnight Patrol", a team of younger heroes who worked locally.

Their exploits were not the stuff of newspaper front pages, more like a mention in the 4th page of the local Calendar section, but they managed to keep themselves busy. Stuck cats on trees, runaway dogs, and even small fires were their usual fare, but on occasion they would manage to foil a robbery, or stumble on a strange or odd plot, and make a bit of a name for themselves in the evening's news broadcasts. They even managed to get a live interview with a local TV news crew, gaining their 15 minutes of fame and citywide recognition.

They were riding high until "they" struck. The news reports came out fast and hard-hitting: Guardian and the Protectors had been defeated in a brutal ambush. Their base had been destroyed and as far as anyone knew all the Protectors had either been defeated, killed, or had disappeared somehow. News of the sudden assaults on the other teams in the nation, the Star Men in Washington, Overwatch in New Orleans, the Coven in New Hampshire, were equally grim. Heroes everywere, the big league names, the heavy-hitters, were disappearing, or were publicly defeated in violent confrontations and surprise attacks.

What was a group like the Midnight Patrol to do? Emerald and Brasher faded out, leaving nothing but short notes and admonishments to not look for them. They were scared. Damian was on his own now.

But something didn't sit right with him.

Who were these people? What did they want? They had the power to defeat the mightiest heroes in the world, and yet they had made no demands, no take-over of governments or other institutions. No "We Now Control The World" declarations. What was going on?

Damian decided that someone had to take a look into it. And it made sense for the small fry to do it. After all, they were flying below the radar. They were "no threat". Too small of a potato to make much of a salad. Or something like that. He would take advantage of the idea that he may have been easy to underestimate, easy to ignore, perhaps even easy to laugh off. If no one was paying attention to him, then he could slip in undetected, and when he discovered who these people were, he would infiltrate their base and he would... well... he would first have to have a good plan. But let's not get ahead of ourselves yet.

He knew there had to be answers, and he knew there had to be more people like him: second stringers, little leaguers, C-team heroes, who could come together and join their forces to drill a small hole in the ship of these folks, and with luck, and a good plan, they might just be able to learn what happened, how to stop it, and then becomes the heroes of the day. And watch that ship sink.

And that's how it all started.

First order of action: find allies. Second order of action: learn about the enemy. Third order of action: lunch."

Wow Love it MrKinister! I have even had a Lady Emerald NPC is a game I ran years and years ago! Great minds! I am currently working on the latent power duplication character concept but coupled with an ability to boost other people’s powers as something like a one sided gestalt type hero again tough on points we’ll see how he turns out.

With that concept Goldmyr how do you feel about a character with the variable power used to give other PCs more points to boost their powers? Right now Iím am considering two variable power pools for this character. The first would be a classic power mimicry pool that he could use to copy some of the powers of a target he can see. The second would be a power enhancement pool that can also affect others - that would be a 20 pts pool that he could boost another players powers while simultaneous boosting whatever powers heís duplicating or his couple of his few personal powers when needed. I am liking this concept as a keystone team player but I realize there are lots of details that I want to make sure youíre okay with before I churn out all of the mechanics and a background to boot.

Nice. I want to see how strong they come out with just PL 7 points. Looking forward to a build.

Interest piqied, Goldmyr. An idea I've been wanting to try for a while. Let me know of any suggestions or need for more details.
AppName: Adamant

Secret identity cover: Detective Adam Antinum (& his car)

Power/Concept: Giant alien robot hiding in vehicle and human forms

Description: Both in human and robot forms, he conveys the impression of a gregarious, gentle giant. In human guise as a rookie detective with the city police force, Adam is a tall, heavily built fellow with a scrutinizing gaze but soft smile. His big hands are more often used for a clap on the shoulder or sending someone stumbling with a too hearty slap on the back. The criminals he tangles with, though, are left regretful of the memories of taking a big, meaty fist to face or getting pinned with their face in the asphalt.

His car, a stylish but not too flashy blue sedan, hides far more sophisticated technology not of this world. When Adam and his vehicle combine, the alien robot shifts to his true form, the 12' tall white and blue robot, Adamant. His chassis is broad and well built, and he can regularly out-servo villains of comparable size. He prefers the hands-on approach, even though he is outfitted with a plasma rifle. His comrades (when they were around) joked that Adamant watched too many bouts of luchador bouts on human television. However, it is hard to argue with the results.

Alone, without his comrades, he bears a touch of melancholy when he thinks nobody is looking. But he is quick to make friends and, just maybe, fill some of the role left by his missing team.

Background: The alien robot team known widely as the Protectobots originally hailed from a distant planet, Mechanus, populated by towering technological creatures. A team of explorers traveled the stars and eventually found themselves on Earth. The robots decided to settle and observe the dominant species on the planet. To avoid alarming them, the robots took on alternate modes to hide in plain sight. Each separated into a vehicle component and human guise component. But rather than simply remaining hidden observers, when disaster struck or villains reared their heads, the human and vehicle components would combine to reform the Protectobots, led by their dauntless leader, Defensor. Adamant was the smallest and youngest of the team, comparatively anyway; ten feet tall and almost two centuries old could hardly be described as small or young by earthling standards.

Their tale, however, has taken a sadder turn. It has been weeks since most of the team, except Adamant, went off on an unusual mission. Defensor bade Adamant to stay behind for this one. To this day, Adamant wonders if Defensor suspected something about this mission. Regardless, no one has heard from the Protectobots since, least of all, the worried Adamant. Thus far, his attempts to signal them or locate any clue of them have all been in vain.

Build for main character and minions are attached. All Minions will be identical so even though there's 4, only showing stats for one.

Ah, interesting. I see the minions have a Toughness of 0 and no Protection, just high defenses. Little glass jaws on wings. Interesting that you set them up as Minions, and not Summon. Nice build.

That might have been an oversight, the toughness, but this is just a beginner concept/idea. Not sure if summon would work the same way, but I'll give it a once over.

And here's Gateway's first draft. All special effects are "teleportation portals" which look like two-dimensional fields through which you can see, roughly circular or oval in shape, with luminous edges.

Notes: The "Defensive Roll" advantage represents a field of "gates" which redirect attacks away from him safely. Since he needs to be aware of the attacks Protection was not suitable. Defensive Roll is a better substitute.

Gateway - PL 7

Strength 2, Stamina 2, Agility 1, Dexterity 2, Fighting 2, Intellect 2, Awareness 1, Presence 1

Advantages
Accurate Attack, All-out Attack, Defensive Attack, [Defensive Roll 5], Equipment 1, Instant Up, Power Attack, Precise Attack (Close, Cover), [Throwing Mastery 5]

Skills
Athletics 2 (+4), Deception 2 (+3), Expertise: Literature 4 (+6), Insight 2 (+3), Intimidation 2 (+3), Investigation 2 (+4), Perception 8 (+9), Persuasion 6 (+7), Stealth 2 (+3), Technology 2 (+4), Vehicles 2 (+4)

Powers
Attack Gates - array
. . Acceleration Gate: Damage 2 (DC 17, Advantages: Throwing Mastery 5; Accurate 3: +6)
. . Strike Gate: Strength-based Damage 2 (DC 19; Accurate 3: +6, Indirect 4: any point, any direction, Reach (melee) 5: 25 ft.)
Gates - array
. . Far Gate: Teleport 1 (Carry 200 lbs.; Accurate, Change Direction, Change Velocity, Easy, Extended: 2 miles in 2 move actions, Increased Mass 2, Portal, Subtle 2: undetectable; Limited to Extended, Quirk: Not subtle at point of Origin, Notes: This power's exit gate is completely non-perceivable by normal senses until someone is in the act of crossing through it. Then it becomes normally visible as an active power. As soon as the subject has finished crossing the distance, the exit gate resumes its non-perceptive qualities. The power's entrance gate is always visible.)
. . Jump Gate: Teleport 4 (500 feet in a move action, carrying 50 lbs.; Change Direction, Change Velocity, Turnabout)
. . Shield Gate: Deflect 7
Impact Gate: Teleport 1 (60 feet in a move action, carrying 50 lbs.; Change Direction, Change Velocity, Triggered: 1 use - About to hit something hard or dangerous., Notes: Whenever Damien is about to hit something and he's aware of it, like falling from great heights or being hurled at something dangerous, this emergency teleport will shunt him to the nearest safe spot within range.)
Perimeter Gates: Enhanced Trait 15 (Traits: Dodge +6 (+7), Parry +4 (+6), Advantages: Defensive Roll 5)

Equipment
Ball bearings (two dozen) 0, Cell Phone (Smartphone), Flashlight, Night Vision Goggles, Restraints

Offense
Initiative +1
Acceleration Gate: Damage 2, +8 (DC 17)

A WIP of my concept.

Delirium
Name: Dr. Delilah J. Reas
Alter Ego: Delirium (Public)
Occupation: (formerly) Neurologist / (currently) Unemployed

Backstory: Once a promising genius within her field, Delilah had been given the important and trusted position of studying and administering medicine to many prominent American superheroes. However, she abused her position and began experimenting with the data she found, eventually unlocking latent powers within herself to manipulate the minds of others. With no experience, little control, and a rapidly deteriorating sense of ethics, Delilah began a career as a brutal vigilante that terrorized criminals and villains, with that career quickly devolved into a ruthless rampage barely discernable from the villains she sought to defeat. It was not long until she had no allies, and a slew of enemies, from villains hellbent on revenge to genuine heroes desperately trying to protect the innocents caught in her wake.

Eventually, Delirium was captured by the renowned hero Silver Sentinel, after she kidnapped his family in an attempt to blackmail him into sabotaging the effort to capture her. Delilah was publicly unmasked, tried, and sentenced to a maximum security prison for supers, where she could expect to remain for the rest of her life.

With her villainy halted, and her delusions of grandeur stripped away, Delilah was left with only the shame of her actions. She spent the first two years of her sentence with the sole goal of contacting as many of the people she had harmed, directly or indirectly, during her spree, including Sentinel and his family. Most of the rare responses she received contained only well-deserved vitriol... but to Delilah's surprise, Sentinel himself visited her in person to accept her apology.

The act would open a doorway to redemption. It was some time before Sentinel visited Delilah again, this time for advice pertaining to a villain he had been tracking, one that used a chemical agent to induce hallucinations. Her advice ended up being fruitful, and over time, Sentinel came to visit more and more often. The two formed a... well, it wasn't quite friendship. Some wounds simply run too deeply for that. But the visits were cordial, and sometimes Sentinel only came to the prison to arrange for Delilah simple comforts, such as books or better bedsheets. And sometimes Delilah could sense Sentinel's emotions, and could tell when the stress of the hero lifestyle became too much for him to handle.

When the villains attacked to wipe out all heroes, Delilah was one of the last to hear about it, still locked away in isolation. This time, when Sentinel visited, it was by crashing through the wall, bleeding profusely and on the verge of death. He babbled almost incoherently about the attack, about how so many of his closest allies had either died or betrayed him. And in an interesting twist of fate, Delilah, a woman who had once been his most bitter enemy, became the only person he could trust to protect his family. With his final breath, he placed all of his trust in Delilah, and granted her a second chance at freedom, and a second chance to be a hero.

It isn't a chance she intents to waste.

Complications:

Motivation: Redemption - Delilah has always wanted to use her powers for good, but the first time around her motives became twisted. This time around, not only is she determined to do better, but also to repair some of the damage she caused before her arrest.

Motivation: Justice - Less of the "saving kittens from trees" super, and far more invested in making the bad guys pay, Delilah's original descent into villainy came from the frustration of criminals getting away or getting off easy when she played with kid gloves. Her sense of justice is a double-edged sword, able to inspire Delilah to surpass her own limitations, but also driving her too far when she doesn't temper herself.

Complication: Bad Reputation - The only reason any hero would work with Delilah now is because there simply aren't a lot of other heroes left to work with, and beggars can't be choosers. And even still... a lot of heroes still refuse to work with her.

Complication: Enemies - Delilah, despite her flaws, was at least effective in the past. Plenty of bad guys ended up behind bars (or in a psych ward... or dead...) because of her. And as soon as word of her impromptu "release" reaches their or their friends' / families' ears, Delilah can count on them coming after her. To make matters worse... some heroes have taken it upon themselves to return Delilah to prison. Which, to be fair... she wasn't ever legally released...

Complication: Oath - Delilah swore on her life to protect Silver Sentinel's family. Despite all of her failings and flaws... this is one oath she won't ever break.
