Posting Interest!

I've been fascinated with Githyanki lately because of Baldur's Gate 3. I'm thinking of a Githyanki who's been separated from her crèche, and is looking for another, or alternatively a Mind Flayer so that she might fulfill her rite of passage when she returns. Would something like that work for this campaign?

Backstory: Ivanka was born in Dwarven Valley, a dwarven mining community located near the Ten Towns. Her brother worked as a smith using the mined metals, and Ivanka shared this drive to create. However, when she was old enough, she was asked to become a hunter and sentry for the clan, rather than a smith like her brother. She would provide food and protection from any beast or person who would threaten the settlement. Even though Ivanka longed to be crafting, she accepted her duty. In fact, it gave her plenty of time to analyze the rifle she had been given as a weapon. Her job often found her nestled behind a snowy outcropping, her eyes trained on the horizon, searching for movement. Her time as a sentry gave her patience, self-reliance, and a keen eye for trouble.

As of two years ago and the start of the Everlasting Rime, the trade path between Dwarven Valley and one of the Ten TownsBryn Shander has become more treacherous, and extra protection is needed for the dwarven merchants selling their crafted wares. Ivanka was moved from hunting duty to be an escort for the merchants traveling to Bryn Shander. Over the past two years, she has been constantly traveling between the two settlements, spending as much time in Bryn Shander as Dwarven Valley. She can be found tinkering on small, portable projects when the caravan has a moment of rest.

Personality: When Ivanka has a job to do, she doesn’t waver. Having spent much of her time on watch duty alone in the elements, she is more comfortable with her own thoughts than trying to decipher the words of others. She appreciates hard work and doesn’t like taking short cuts. However, she does appreciate new ideas and clever solutions. In spite of her rigid loyalty to her clan, she believes they could benefit from some innovation. Surely the sturdy dwarven craft could be augmented by equally sturdy enchantments. And if a few things break along the way, it doesn’t bother her. Some things have to be broken in order to get stronger.

Connections:
Her brother, a dwarven smith
One of the dwarven merchants she has been protecting
A human living in Bryn Shander from whom she buys her tinkering supplies

Notes: I imagine Ivanka speaking with a Russian accent. She has an affinity for lightning magic, and I plan to go Battle Smith and give her a wolf steel defender. All of the location names came from the Forgotten Realms wiki.
Hope we both get in, I could see a lot of good interplay between our characters!

I actually have a character I originally wrote for an Icewind game that might work quite well!

Personality: Despite his fearsome and devilish appearance Lore is closer to a scholar in temperament. Highly studious, shy around strangers and slow to warm up to them, as well as enjoying quiet peace and taking in the serenity of the world around him. He has an intense drive to acquire knowledge in all forms, particularly anything in regards to the origination of magic. Any magic. Divine, Arcane, Nature, Shamanistic, Paganistic; He wishes to know everything he can in regards to how spells are crafted and used in the world. He actively tries to avoid fighting, preferring to talk his way out or use his hellish visage to chase off those who provoke him. But when that fails he's more focused on disabling his foes rather than outright killing them. In his mind murder is a last resort.

He might speak like he's a living book and can come across as obsessive at times with certain subjects, but his arcane arsenal is varied, impactful, and he's willing to travel from one end of the continent to the other in the name of his goals.
Ideal: "I carry on my Master's work. I wish to understand the very fabric of magic."
Bond: "How can a creature like me truly exist?"
Flaw: "My time is short, and I can't afford to waste it!"
Hook: He seeks the one who wrote him the letter, Arcanum.
D&D Bio in Brief: Primarily I enjoy playing alongside interesting characters and seeing their interactions between my own PC as well as others. I can certainly provide this element myself as well as helping keep a game moving should it start to slow or become bogged down with indecision. I'll provide a few posts I've been complimented on as far as my ability as a player.

If you can find a different subclass that works, that would be great. I want to keep it to published (non-play test) material.

@Tyeal

If you haven't already take a look at the Order of Scribes Wizard subclass from TCoE.

I think with some minor reskinning the subclass is a decent alternative with a similar flavour.

Apologies for delay, had a couple of crazy days at work. Application below.

Personality traits: I sleep with my back to a wall or tree, with everything I own wrapped in a bundle in my arms. I like to bathe.

Ideal: Community. We have to take care of each other, because no one else is going to do it.

Bond: I sponsor an orphanage to keep others from enduring what I was forced to endure.

Flaw: I’d rather kill someone in their sleep than fight fair.

Appearance:
Contrary to common stereotypes, and in spite of his difficult childhood, Bucket looks nothing like your average goblin. His clothes are clean and neat, he doesn't smell of rotten cabbage - or any other foul odor for that matter, he makes a point of sleeping in inns whenever possible (an extra coin goes a long way to persuade narrow minded innkeepers), and he doesn't scurry about in the shadows or gutters. He always carries a bucket (goblin sized) with him, which he uses to keep himself clean with.

Personality:
One of Bucket's goals is to be the exception to the rule. He wants his behavior to change people's minds about goblins, even for a fraction. He keeps his head high, speaks his mind with a strong confident voice and makes it a point to pick up jobs that you'd never see a Goblin undertake. For this, he made his fair share of enemies among his brethren, as well as a few select friends from other races.

Outward Appearances:

A tangled cloud of white beard covers his face and deep wrinkles frame clear blue eyes. Gillead has never been a tall man, his mixed parentage of human and dwarf saw to that, however the last decade has brought a new bend to his back and weariness to his gait. He moves slowly, shoulders slightly hunched, as if the pain of past wounds are never far from memory. His clothes are simple, a tunic of softly tanned elk hide and rabbit fur which shows signs of frequent wear and careful mending.

His days in the ten towns are spent in a steady pattern from which he rarely deviates. He gathers wood for his fire. He tends to his goats. He prepares and eats what simple food he is able to find or barter. Not a native of the north, Gillead nonetheless relishes the quiet, the solitude, and even the cold. He spends his nights huddled as close as he can to the flickering embers of his fire where occasionally his gaze drifts to a large painted shield which hangs on his wall, his only reminder of the life he used to live.


His StoryGillead spent his youth on the Sword Coast where he served as a member of the esteemed Azure Guard, a group of dedicated knights who valued peace, patience and protection. Unlike most mercenary companies, the Azure Guard was not available for hire. Instead they brought their services to wherever and whomever they deemed needing their protection or aid. The guard was known for their oath “Amity Above All” and for their distinctive shields bearing an image of a golden crane on a sky blue field.

His time with the Azure Guard came to a close under scandalous circumstances, and when it did Gillead sought out the solitude of the north. He valued the independence of the hardy northern folk he encountered, and he made a quiet way for himself in Icewind Dale. The arrival of the Frost Maiden and her perpetual winter was a bitter twist in what he’d hoped would be his peaceful twilight years. During the drudgery and toil of the daylight hours his former life is little more than a distant memory. At night however, in the flickering light of his hearth fire, his dreams are still haunted by the pain of past mistakes.


Old Guard
Personality Traits:
- I've lost too many friends, and I'm slow to make new ones.
- I am always calm, no matter what the situation. I never raise my voice or let my emotions control me.

Ideals:
- Fairness. No one should get preferential treatment before the law, and no one is above the law.
- Independence. When people follow orders blindly they embrace a kind of tyranny.

Bonds:
- Someone I loved died because of a mistake I made. That will never happen again.
- I protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Flaws:
- The people who knew me when I was young know my shameful secret, so I can never go home again.
- I will never fully trust anyone other than myself.


Connections in the Ten Towns
Gunther Albright:There are few in the town with whom Gillead is friendly, fewer still whose company he genuinely enjoys. Gunther is an old man, older even than Gillead. He is too old to work or gather food for himself, so when Gillead has an extra bit of bread or cup of wine he will walk down the lane to the shack were Gunther lives and share what he has with the old dwarf. Though frail of body, Gunther has a clear mind and his stories of days spent in the warm southern lands are a pleasant way to spend a cold winter evening.

Ollisa Foxwyn: As young and nimble as Gillead is old and slow, Ollisa is a female elven hunter that dwells on the outskirts of town. Usually clad in a thick coat of warm furs and with a crossbow slung over her shoulder Ollisa is much tougher than the diminutive size might imply. Ollisa and Gillead have struck up a bartering relationship in recent years; the young hunter provides hare and or other small game in exchange for fresh milk and cream from his goats.

Otis Coldtree: Otis’s pompous manner and verbose language has never sat right with Gillead. The young man had a confidence that is outsized to his experience, and he and his cohort of friends don’t mind bossing around the town’s less fortunate. Otis seems to have ideas about using his connections to become a town official, a fact which just doesn’t sit right with Gillead.

Hello, currently looking for a game to join and I'd like to give this game a try!

Personality Trait:
- I do not agree with the morals and beliefs of my own kin, and that is why I left my tribe.
- I find excitement in discovering and hunting new foes.

Ideal: Change. Life is like the seasons, in constant change, and we must change with it. (Chaotic)

Bond: One's race nor lineage does not matter in the battlefield. I would lay down my life for those that fight besides me.

Flaw: There's no room for caution in a life lived to the fullest.

Description: Lorawynn stands at around 5'7", with long, slim limbs and tanned skin. Her long brown hair is usually in many braids, and her emerald eyes are alert and cautious. She prefers to dress herself in dark greens and various grays, although she's considering a new set of clothes in lighter colors to blend in better in the snowy environment. Her lips are slightly crooked in a permanent smirk but if you observe her for a while, her actions will speak kindness and empathy.

Personality: Lorawynn does not like to talk a lot but will speak her mind when she does. She despises deceit and manipulation, and even though she's slow to trust someone, she will give her life up for someone who has earned her trust. And she will trust someone not based on the outer appearance nor what had happened in the past, but for their actions and beliefs of the present, if she deems it genuine. Lorawynn also likes to enjoy her life, as her growing up in her hidden tribe prevented her from experiencing any of the 'worldly' things, as they used to call it. She loves to collect unique and precious items, taste new food and beverages, and most of all, find and hunt down monsters that are believed to be urban legends.
