Dergan stops to scratch at a particularly persistent itch on his backside, watching as Iliaster puts a more practiced eye on the crystals. He can only shrug to Raka. I'm never one fer turning down a good smashin', but I guess we'll see what smarty-pants here thinks first.

Dergan, Eia: The grin on Raka's maw is impressively fangy. It's not an expression anyone with that many sharp teeth should wear. Ever. She doesn't seem to care, though.
Illiaster: Hmm... well, from the feelings you're getting off of it, the crystal seems to be... twisting the energy that passes near it. Distorting it, so to speak. Not quite shaping it, as you would apply a pattern to mana to make spells. No, more like it's... adding it's own sort of flavor, like how mana from a fire is different from mana in a pond. What sort of flavor, you're not sure of; you'd need to give it some food to watch it digest, or perhaps study it in closer detail. You're not sure what effect smashing it would have. It would most certainly disrupt the effect it's having(the effect seems to resonate off itself, needing sufficient mass to keep a good amount going), but aside from that, you have no clue.

"You guys may want to step back for a bit. I'm going to experiment with something. Maybe go in to the other room." he says. "I'll be fine on my own and shout if something goes wrong"
When(and if) the others leave, he pours some of the water over the crystal.

Illiaster:
Hmm. Well, it did seem to fall down the crystal in an odd pattern. Sort of a basketweave pattern. Still, not any proper magic that you can tell aside from that, and it's too impermanent to try to trace out the resonance it's making.

"Interesting" he says, thinking of more tests. He wouldn't want to waste a healing potion, but maybe try something else. "I am not kidding when i say you leave." and after a minute, pours more water on the crystal and casts a Ray of frost while its weaving its way down.

Illiaster: The water starts running down again, in the same sort of pattern. Now add one Ray of Frost, and...
Whoo nelly, that wasn't very nice. The water proceeds to freeze, then fire off the crystal in random directions. Not overly sharp, or with too much force, but you still got a good bit of sleet on your face.

Having warned enough he feels, he tries one more thing. He fires another way of frost, this time seeing what it does without the water on it, he then examines the water more closely at his feet, then tries to capture some water running down the crystal in an empty vial, then examines that.

Illiaster: The frost gathers on the crystal, grows slightly, then falls off as a thin spread of snow. The water on the ground, and in the vial, seem to show the same sorts of properties: it ripples and moves about far longer than it should after you stop moving it around, as if it just doesn't want to go back to being still anytime soon.

Illiaster thinks, and absentmindedly puts a hand on the crystal and thinks. "This thing does seem to enchant the water somehow. I don't think i can do much more with it here though. It would be nice to take back to my lab though."

Raka swigs the potion before speaking once more, "Should we take it then? We don't know what it does."

"Maybe once we're done here. There was another room i believe."

Dergan grunts, then snorts, apparently not thinking much of a lack of resolution. He turns from the crystal and stalks off, back into the direction from which they came. Alrighty then...one more area to check, and then we'll come back, right? Not waiting for an answer, he heads towards the final room that they had left unexplored.

Eia nods appreciatively at the mention of returning. "Yeah, lets take a last look and then turn back. Not sure how easy it'd be to move this thing though..."

Dergan, Eia: You wander off into the next room. Looks like a study of sorts(15x15). Bookcase, desk, boring red rug... There's a book and pen out on the desk, and a funky glass sculpture of a tree on the bookcase, but otherwise the room is rather empty of interesting things to pilfer.
There's a corn critter in the corner, vaguely twitching, but it's not actually moving properly or being hostile. You approve of this change of pace. Illiaster: You plop your hand on the crystal, and immediately feel the twisting effect it was having on all your other tests shoot through your arm, and throughout the rest of your body. Oh goodness, that is mildly uncomfortable. Not painful, but a feeling of being far too energetic, as if parts of you under your skin want to jump out and run around on their own for a bit. Raka: The nerd is certainly having a good time of this crystal. You watch as his face ripples out into the head of a silver dragon, with little puffs of vapor coming out the nostrils. Hell, the guy is tearing through his clothes as the crystal happily finishes off whatever parts of him weren't very dragony-looking before. It's impressively creepy, but oddly interesting. You imagine people would pay very handsomely for something that made dragons out of ordinary folk... Illiaster: Well, you're done. Plopped on all fours now, as you try and figure out how someone like this is even supposed to walk. It's not natural, this gait.
