"It took a toll on us just dipping our toes in. I am guessing Gill didnt make it then, Reyd?" He crawls out and starts drying his clothes. |

Amolas exits the elf's backpack with loathing and discontent. Mee-rr-lll. Those listening with interest would deduce the feline familiar's distaste for lizard gore; what vivid sights the party had seen, Amolas had the distinct displeasure of smelling rather than seeing. And the smells were none too pleasant, no sir.
At any rate, Faunra was happy her rogue companion was land-side once again. She had no misconceptions; she'd have been absolutely no use at all in saving Reyd from drowning beneath the waves. Remind me to memorize my spells more carefully next time, Amolas. Ray-rr. She prances over to Skurvin who by this time is studying the malign Taldorian tome, the codex, the source of their lizard-stenched, soaking-wet discomfort. What does it say Skurvin, what does it say? The slender elf looked over the summoner's shoulder with great anticipation. If you require assistance, I know a thing or two about forbidden texts and all like that, and I might be able to help decipher it. Just if you need any help, I mean. Faunra was anxious to know what the text contains, and what is literally worth dying for.

Skurvin looks down at Morton with mild confusion as the man emerges from the water. "I thought you were going to get him." Skurvin looks at the murky depths and considers sending Kria in again, but decides against it. The man had caused them enough trouble.
"Well no matter, we have our prize." He glances at Faunra, and thencan i read this, do i need a knowledge check? looks back at the book to hide his contempt for the elf woman. Kria remains silent and vigilant as she looks out at the water as if expecting an enemy to emerge from it and attack them.

Molrim comes jogging up behind everyone "I apologize for being late everyone, I tend to lose myself in the thrill of battle so by the time I cooled down and looked around everyone had left!" He looks around "Seems like everyone is alright, always a good thing, where is our little friend Yargos?" After glancing around a bit and taking in the moods of everyone he sees the book in the hands of his companions and Yargos nowhere in site. Putting the pieces of the puzzle together he sighs "Oh, well... not much we can do about that. Any luck reading that book?"

Belros comes jogging up with Molrim and quickly assesses the situation. Seeing Reyd on the ground soaking wet and no sign of Yargos he assumes the worst. Noting the others looking over the book he offers, "Perhaps we should do that someplace more secure, where they won't be other ne'er do wells coming to look for Yargos. We know it isn't really him they are after so it would do us little good to point them to the water when we have the book.
Looking around for agreement from his companions, he says, Let's be off then?" Adjusting the grip on his hammer he nods back the way they came. |

Reyd collapses in a sputtering coughing heap on the rough rocky floor. His body convulsing as he violently coughs out spurt after spurt of salty water. Blurry, his eyes finally open and he looks up at the rest of the group.
Yargos! where is he? For a moment it seems like he has forgotten, then the memory of a hand slipping away comes rushing back. Damn!... that fool! Reyd sits up painfully, and as the feeling draws back to his shivering body he becomes acutely aware of the extent of his injuries. With the salt water washing around in his wounds, he barely stifles a scream. He looks around seeing that Skurvin has the book. Did you manage to figure out what it is? Looking up at the night sky covered in bright white dots and a waning moon, he is acutely aware of their surroundings. Perhaps we should not be outside with that thing in our hands He nods to Belros, and with another painful movement stands up to follow. Last edited by coldmug; Jan 19th, 2014 at 09:12 PM. |

At first glance the words of the Taldorian Codex is too difficult to ascertain the meaning. It will take magics to read the written syllables and sigils inside to decipher the meanings. The written words appear to be written in an old dialect that not too many people still remember. A read magic spell would work quite well at this time as Faunra has a read magic spell memorized. With this spell cast Faunra might easily be accustomed to the words inside.

Frustrated by its secrets, Skurvin offers the book to his companions as if it held no value to him. "I agree with you." he says, already walking back. "Let us return to our benefactor. Never have I so desperately desired departure, and I hope to never again set foot in this waterlogged mud-hole."

Faunra follows her group back to safety. With Amolas looking over her shoulder, Faunra accepts the book from Skurvin. Slender elven hands gingerly leaf through the text while the wizard squints her eyes in deep concentration. She Casts Read Magicutters arcane words under her breath and widens her eyes to the words on magical pages.
After some amount of time, the elf raises her head from the book and pinches the sides of her forehead. It's as though she'd been cramming for studies at the local wizards college. Hmm. Well basically defer to future DM postit reads as thus...

Skurvin retires to his room, saying little to the others. Once alone, he proceeds to undress, tossing his mud-soaked boots and pants onto the floor. “Well that was a revolting experience,” he says, his voice thick with irritation. “Trudging around in a glorified sewer to find an idiot that ended up drowning and a book worth less than the shoes I ruined acquiring it.”
He sighs if frustration, shaking his head. “Let us hope that our benefactor sufficiently compensates us for our efforts.” Kria watches her master complain with a faint grin of anticipation curling her red lips. She discards her own clothing, catching Skurvin’s eye. His frustrations seem to melt away, the look of aggravation in his eyes replaced by lust. “Yes, of course you’re right my dear. Best to put off such concerns until morning.” He lies down on the bad and bids Kria to join him. “You know, seeing you glide through the water tonight has inspired me to try something new tomorrow when you return, but until then, let us end this night with pleasant memories.”

Molrim goes to his room and starts to remove his mud soaked clothing. Finally sitting down on his bed he wrangles his boots off and tosses them into the corner. "Another day another pay" he thought as he noticed the sorriness in his arms.
Molrim went through his rituals. He cleaned off his bow and counted the arrows in his quiver. He Add 4 arrowsfilled it to be ready for what would come tomorrow. He laid his sheathed sword to the side with his arrows and quiver by his bedside. He blew out the candle in his room and laid his head on his pillow. He sat in bed recounting the events of the day. Molrim thought back to the lizard men, shortly dwelling on the one he had killed outright, and thought "Why were they helping Yargos…and what do they have to gain from it?" Other thoughts and images passed through his mind as he quickly drifted off into the realm of sleep.
