My favorite character I've ever come up with is Bixby Murphy, a gunslinger/wizard (or arcanist) specializing in illusion and later transmutation. Basically, I wanted a character that fit every hokey, overplayed, stupid gunslinger stereotype but was also a wizard. His late Nana was a huge influence on his life, and he was trained in magic by his Aunt Betty, a mystic theurge. Bixby also usually has a parrot familiar, Jericho, who mostly communicates through headbutting. He turned out to be really easy for me to write for and relate to, and was just loads of fun to play.

First appearance.

I also entered him into Outplay 2015. I thought round two was some of my best writing for him.

Read both, awesome stuff Ytterbium, that's quite a character lol ^^

I haven't played enough to have many characters to choose from but my favorite one thus far was a ferocious dual wielding Fighter who was deathly afraid of cats and collected porcelain figurines.

@Ytter: Mister Bixby is one of my favorite characters too!! I thought he shone in every single round of Outplay.

As for characters I’ve created, my favorite is probably Zephyra Deepdelver, a deaf female dwarf Pathfinder wind oracle who’s loud, talkative, and impulsive, but in a good-natured way. She greets friends with suffocating bear hugs and strangers with friendly slaps on the behind, and is cheerfully oblivious to social conventions. She’s not necessarily my ‘best’ character, but she’s lots of fun and easy to write for, and is also my longest-lived PC on this site (from level 1 to 11 and still going).

Ooh, shout out to Zephyra. She's a total riot.

My favourite character... probably a tie between my pirate lass, and a lady who I made the cardinal writing sin of naming after myself. Not a lot to say about the latter (on review: I lied), she was a rogue who grew up in an inn and became hooked on all the heroic stories, found a man of a thieves' guild who taught her, whom she married, and then she set out to find him when he vanished. She rarely stole, except as a little joke to people she was friendly with, was *cough* repeatedly *cough* called clingy, because she got lonely quick on her own, and would tag along with people just to have company. People she really liked but was insecure about ditching her when they split up she would steal from, to make sure they'd eventually have to come back and find her.

Funny, this is MY favorite RPG character, too! I just wasn't the player! haha!

(My favorite character ever was in the same game... actually, I had two of them, and they are my TWO favorite characters--but Kyra is #1)

That's quite a feat! Congrats on that!

I haven't played too many characters for a long enough time to have a good selection of potential favorites. I am running a game, though, where the player opted to make his human sorcerer in his mid 60s. He started out a lovable (though lecherous) old man who'd given up hope on finding his elven wife long ago. But as the adventure went on, he started receiving hints that she was still alive, and that he might be able to find her, so he's been resorting to more and more drastic means to stay alive and keep searching. He went as far as to make some dastardly deals with demons to bring himself back to life when torn in half by an automaton. His character has just recently had an epiphany that he's crossed lines in his pursuit, and is trying to correct the error of his ways while continuing his search.

It's very close for me, but my PF Rogue in Reign of Winter is really fun to write. Hale's terribly suited to the AP from a mechanical standpoint, but he manages to find the odd way to contribute. He's a spoiled second son of a noble household who's been disowned. His opinion of himself is rather inflated which leads him to act recklessly both in combat and other situations. He loves good drink and fair maidens, and he hates cold and wilderness... but he's going along with the adventure because of his complex devotion to his deity Cayden (who he sometimes threatens with conversion to the goddess of lust) and because he hears the Winter Witches of Irrisen are exceedingly beautiful, never mind if they want to destroy his homeland.

One of my favorite posts.

For me, it is my druid Saber. He was originally created with a very thing background (almost 1 paragraph, but not quite) just to get him into a combat-centric game. But, over the course of several years, the narrative and story of this character just keeps growing. We have learned about Saber's past. He has a mysterious Step-Sister (still not confirmed), has developed lifelong friends in the Arena. Saber has helped defend Bloodfall from numerous attacks, helped build and found a seafront casino, ridden a Tyrannosaurus Rex into battle (who thanks to the Awakened spell, was smarter than Saber), and become a prominent member of the Emissaries of Mercy. Some of the most fun I have with Saber is his interactions with the PPA (Potion Pounders Anonymous). He joined the group to help him stop his addition to drinking potions in battle. But, he still finds ways to justify his continued addiction just about every match he gets into.

"King" Smeag - (Outplay 2018) was fun mechanically, but never really developed much of a personality, unfortunately.

He was based upon Gru and minions from Despicable Me. He was a Rogue with 10 homunculi. Some of the cheapest action economy game breaking. Budget would have allowed for significantly more minions, but 10 was more than enough to get the point across.
