I am posting interest as well.

1. Name: Ren-do

2. Race: Android
Instruction: Recruitment waiver required for non Andoird, Human, Kasatha, Lashunta, Shirren, Vesk or Ysoki races.

3. Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Instruction: Regulation 2112-38:42 Prohibits Evil aligned applicants from entering contract with the Starfinder Society. Regulation 2112-4:1:76 requires chaotic aligned applicants to submit to installation of subdural galactic positioning beacon prior to contract execution.

4. Appearance: Ren-do is a humanoid shaped android. His skin is smooth pale bluish-green. His eyes generally are dark blue but change to red when he goes into combat mode. Ren-do stands 6 feet tall and is lean in overall body shape. He has a tattoo of a mechanical owl on his right shoulder and the word, “C.H.A.I.N.” on his left wrist. He has no memory of getting these tattoos nor does he know what, if anything, they symbolize.
Instruction: Recruiting staff with access to photography equipment should provide a single image; otherwise, a brief description that would provide positive identification of the application upon their arrival to Absalom Station is required.

5. Theme: Mercenary

6. Class: Soldier

7. Background Check:
Ren-do awoke with no memories other than his name and his obvious combat skills. It is as if someone surgically removed his personal timeline from his memories. He does not know where he originally came from or how he received his fighting skills. Not knowing what his history is, Ren-do has decided to join the Starfinder Society and hopefully find a group of beings he can work with while he searches for clues of his past. All he has to go on are the two tattoos he has on his body…

Instruction: The applicant must describe the significant highlights of their background in a brief 250-500 word summary. Once furnished, recruitment staff shall make a best effort attempt to validate what was provided. Regulation 2112:20:33 preventing acceptance of applicants with pending charges, outstanding warrants, undergoing active proceedings, or with a bounty on their head. Recruitment staff are reminded that accepting bribes by applicants attempting to conceal, or otherwise evade the restrictions if 2112:20:33 is strictly forbidden, and punishable by the Starfinder Society taking a 70% cut.

8. Meritorious Conduct:
Ren-do walked toward the human standing at the information kiosk and asked, “Excuse me, but I am looking for a records terminal. Could you provide the location of the closest one?” The young human lady smiled and said with enthusiasm, “Why yes, there is one just on the edge of the plaza right over there.” To emphasize her instruction, she pointed in the direction Ren-do should go.
“Thank you.” Ren-do said with no show of appreciation on his face before walking towards the terminal. Upon reaching the terminal, Ren-do logged in to the public records and entered his identification code. His name appeared but no historical information or news items appeared in any records.
“Whatever I have been doing, it must have been very secretive,” he said to no one. “Further investigations will be required but these will cost credits. Credits that I do not currently have. Summation is that I must find employment.”
Just then the ad for the Starfinder Society recruitment flashed on the plaza’s large screens. Ren-do tilted his head to the side for a moment taking in the information before righting himself and returning to the information kiosk. “Excuse me again,” he said to the young lady, “but I am looking for the Starfinder recruitment office.” Once again, the young lady smiled her same smile and pointed him in the right direction….

Instruction: The applicant must provide recorded footage of an event demonstrates their capability to be an effective contractor for the Starfinder Society. Should such footage not be readily available to be turned over, the applicant shall demonstrate through ‘Role Play’ a Sample of their capabilities. The recruiter will then document this in 250-500 words.

9. Motivation:
Instruction:
Ren-do wants to find out about his past. He knows that the Starfinder Society will give him access to more information than he has. He also wants to explore the Vast to learn more about the worlds that are out there in hopes of finding where he came from.

The applicant shall provide a brief (3-5 sentences) paragraph describing their long-term motivations and how joining the Starfinders furthers that goal.

Acknowledgements and Agreements
By completing this application, I acknowledge that:
• I will be an independent contractor of the Starfinder Society
• I will be placed on a crew of 4-6 individuals.
• The crew will jointly finance a ship furnished by the Starfinder Society, to be repaid within 2 years of assignment.
• The Starfinder Society will withhold 15% of mission payments in service to this debt.
• The Starfinder Society will have first option on purchasing information, resources, salvage and other items of value collected on a Starfinder Society sanctioned mission.
• Crew members are expected to maintain sufficient conditioning to keep pace with one another.
• Upon repayment of ship and equipment financing, - I will be eligible to become a full member of the Starfinder Society and enjoy all the privileges and benefits that come with that status.

4. Appearance: A mop of messy red hair adorns the human's head, as if the owner could not be bothered to oversee even the most basic of grooming rituals. Smudges of dirt and grime seem to be a fixture on his face, contouring a sharp, hook nose and a pair of sunken eyes which stare out at the world as if looking for any opportunity to find new things to tear apart and put back together, his too pale skin contrasting greatly with the his wandering blue eyes. Standing at 5'5", he is not the most imposing of figures, especially with his slight slouch and thin, lanky limbs, but the jittering twitches of his body and his unnerving smile are enough to give people pause when interacting with him.

1. Name: Reeve Lombardi (Reeve Luka on application)

2. Race: Human

3. Alignment: Chaotic Good?

4. Appearance
Reeve likes to dress neatly. But unassuming and hard to pin down. He usually tries to have few identifying features that he can't simply remove or change with about a minute to a moment's work.
left-aligned image

5. Theme: Outlaw- No outstanding warrents

6. Class: Operative (Thief)

7. Background Check:
Reeve is the child 5/7 of Vitor Lombardi. The head of a large crime family. Never really being as vicious as his father wanted or his siblings managed to be, young Reeve tried instead as a child to impress his father with items pilfered. It worked. Sort of. Vitor only saw his children as investments and ensured they each had the appropriate training to be useful to him. Reeve was sent to learn from private 'tutors' how to handle pretty much any covert illegalness his father wanted. Reeve however realised as he grew that he did not want that life and a resolved to not be a hitman for his father. He would be someone better and eventually redeem the Lombardi name. Or at least let himself be who he felt comfortable being. I mean Larceny would still happen. He couldn't be expected to give up on everything. Upon his intended return to Absalom and his family from his training he disappeared and signed up with the Starfinders.

Due to his fathers influence and his general distaste for activity to gruesome he has no criminal record to show. This is not to say that he has not stolen a bunch however and probably should have gone to juvie. No candy shop was safe when he was but a lad.

8. Meritorious Conduct:
Rusk was one of the worst people Reeve had ever know. Of all the people who worked for his father, this guy was the most brutal and twisted. The scarred Vesk was armed to the teeth for this basic job. Doshko, rifle, knives and entirely to many grenades. He couldn't help but feel his father was sending a message by sending him pick up Reeve from his educational trip. This actually made things much easier for him. He was just going to give his escort the slip. Now he could expedite things and make the galaxy a better place.
Less' go runt.
Rusk grunted as he push Reeve towards the cockpit of the ship. An unassuming but sturdy design. They were about to enter leave drift.
Reeve shoved past the Vesk.
I know. I know.
As soon as he got into the cockpit, before Rusk, he closed and locked the door security door. A good, strong, blast resistant door. In response to Rusks look of anger and confusion Reeve showed him what he had in his hand with a smile and a wink. Then ducked for cover away from the door.
Covering his head he heard a loud explosion on the other side of the door. He opened his hand to look at the pin there. Taken from the third Grenade on Rusk's belt. As hesitant as he was to look he took a peek to confirm. Yep. That's dead alright. The resale value of this ship just dropped considerably however.
Hopping into the pilots chair he headed for one of the seedier docks. He knew where to go to hawk the ship to scavengers. He knew where to use that to buy new credentials. Then off the Starfinders and, hopefully, to uncharted territory before his father even cares to check in on his status. This ship should cover the bribe, right?

9. Motivation:
Mostly just wants to disappear from his family so he doesn't have to try to explain why he doesn't want to further their criminal enterprise. If this takes him far away from there he is happy. If he can earn some credits in the process that would be swell to. He will at some point rob someone who looks like they can afford it. Just putting that out there now.

Yes, a little resource management never hurt anyone. Well except that one time we all ran out of bullets and had to bludgeon our way out. Lots of nasty scrapes and cuts that day, oh an we lost Elliot that day too, so it goes.

We can look at this again and adjust if it starts to become cumbersome.

*gasp*. Not Elliot! He was the only one I liked.
Welp. Guess I should check the price of bullets.

After a long absence from RPGX it feels good to be back! Character is inspired by androids from the Alien franchise, replicants from the Blade Runner movies, and Detroit: Become Human.

Application - WIP
1. Name: "Adam Bowman", Forge, Model/Batch, and Individual ID3CF809CE-6DFA55C8-B9C4B0FE9BA95CF5

2. Race: Android

3. Alignment: Lawful Neutral

4. Appearance: Adam is a "skin-job", an android designed to look and behave like an organic species. He appears to be a nondescript looking human male. 5'10" tall, slim if perhaps not skinny, Adam has short brown hair, brown eyes, and light brown skin that wouldn't look out of place among any number of humanity's myriad ethnicities. He keeps his "grooming" and clothing professional and up-to-date but never fashionable. His body language is subdued except when he means to draw attention to himself, and his face is usually a vaguely friendly mask that actually reveals very little.

Adam makes no secret of the fact that he's an android and anyone familiar with skin-jobs could probably recognize his true nature after spending some time in his presence. His "disguise", he's pleased to inform any curious parties, is simply an appearance adopted to facilitate smooth interactions with organic beings, particularly humans. Even in this day and age many people find androids unsettling or otherwise treat them differently than they would other types of beings; a simple facade like Adam's helps surmount most of those subconscious barriers.

Adam does have a circular blue LED implanted on the right side of his face, just above and to the side of his right eye. While it might be mistaken for some cosmetic enhancement or cybernetic implant, those in the know would recognize it as a subtle and removable but deliberate way of marking himself as an android. Adam also "bleeds" a milky white substance when sufficiently damaged, not blood but actually a buffering substance containing a variety of nanites. In rare circumstances Adam's circuits and "blood vessels" will glow a bright blue clearly visible from the surface, but this is only when his systems are under extreme duress: being pushed to operate beyond their factory limitations, damaged to the point of nearing "death", or the like.

5. Theme: Xenoarchaeologist

6. Class: Mystic? Technomancer?

7. Background Check: Adam was created by the Gamma Alar-Median Forge on the world of the same name. A nondescript human-skinned android with powerful powers of perception, Adam was intended to further the Forge's exploration efforts, particularly by being able to integrate easily into non-android expedition parties with a reasonable number of real humans within. Adam was also designed to have the capability to learn and manifest supernatural powers, a useful ability for any being. Adam's artificial psychology soon proved to be an excellent fit for both of his skills, instilling in him a natural desire to learn and improve through self discipline.

Through the machinations of the Forge Administrators Adam was soon placed on a variety of simple research and recovery missions in the surrounding region of space. He proved himself to be a reliable ally in those simpler ventures, displaying a impressive ability to document his surroundings and having a few impressive insights that, among other things, saved some of the surviving crew of a wrecked spaceship from accidentally being launched into deep space aboard their lifeboat sanctuary. Adam made few friends and did little obvious outstanding work that his supervisors recall, but few who worked alongside could doubt his his professionalism and capabilities.

With his credentials established Adam was then inserted into the "Meritorious" expedition. As the Circe sector of space descended into civil war, a consortium of temporarily allied technocrats and scientists sponsored a small team of well-protected researchers that were inserted into a handful of targeted sites for extra-legal research and technological acquisition. Targets ranged from ancient ruins of forgotten races, pre-gap ruins of known species now fallen into ruin, and even an advanced Circe Prime listening station near the edge of the system that was quickly looted. Adam proved himself once again to be thorough and occasionally creative, as well as surprisingly "brave" under dangerous circumstances. With the successful completion of Operation Meritorious he had acquired a name for himself, small though it may be.

Integration into the Starfinder Society is Adam's next goal. His creation-debt to the Forge has been paid off, making himself a free being by all rights, but he still desires to serve his people, particularly when he can stimulate his mind and perhaps benefit all of the peoples on known universe at the same time.

8. Meritorious Conduct: Sample RP, 250-500 words

9. Motivation: Adam was designed for reconnaissance and information gathering, so the acquisition of knowledge is thus a natural love of his hard-coded into his personality. He realizes that there might be tremendous benefits for all sentient creatures in studying the Gap and the Scoured Stars Incident, and the prospect of approaching these great puzzles that have foiled so many before him appeals as well. Adam would be perfectly happy just wandering about, sampling rocks or exploring ruins, but the Starfinder society and the great issues they tackle give him greater purpose and greater challenges.

Komi, what are your thoughts on party balance here? Obviously a party with a wide range of classes is usually optimal in these sorts of games, but I also seem to recall hearing that Starfinder deliberately makes party balance less of an issue than it usually is. Stamina points and the basic resolve point abilities seem to make healer types less necessary, to give an obvious example. And I heard a tale somewhere that the developers made a point of regularly running parties entirely composed of soldiers just to make sure that the game wasn't too harsh on parties with un-optimized party compositions.

Should we expect the final selected group to have a wide array of classes, Fighter-Rogue-Wizard-Cleric with perhaps two others? Or were you just planning on picking your favorite 4-6 characters, party composition be damned?

My understanding of how SF was designed mirrors yours. In the game where I have a PC we had a had a healer who was very useful in encounters where posion and other conditions showed up. Rest did us fairly well for recovering straight damage.

I dont tend to be a min/max player myself, so I like the idea of party competition be damned.

In-game the Starfinders are just throwing together the bodies they have, when they have it, to fill out crews. I find it likely that there would be an entire crew of healers floating around out there that could/should have been distributed out better during crew assignments.

That said, when it comes time to fill out character sheets some consensus building among the party over starship combat roles will be necessary. I think its a bit less forgiving than the rest of the game. They dont directly correlate to theme/class but it may guide someones 2nd/3rd stat focus.

This is an application for a graviton-focused, "control" build Solarian. Objectively, those aren't very good from a mechanics perspective, but I play dumb things sometimes. If you expect everyone in the party to be closer to "optimal" than "dubiously functional", then... maybe don't pick me for this one. Otherwise...

As far as starship combat goes, my experience with SF is that it is absolutely something you should think about ahead of time, because there are a couple of roles that most anyone can fill versus a couple roles that only dedicated people are any good at. This character, for what it's worth, is a pretty good Captain (if a crew would ever let him do that!) and a tolerableish Gunnery Officer otherwise.

As I indicated earlier. I’m sick of petty politics, corporate goons, lanyard-wearing idiots and fancy parties. The time has come for a drastic change. I can do more good with the Starfinders than I can amongst the contractual daggers of the diplomatics corps. Hell, maybe I’ll see something good before I die or retire.

Just about a week, well maybe a work week, in and we have some very solid apps that are done or are in progress. But there is plenty of room and time for more.

This should be a great game for new RPG players and experienced ones alike since Starfinder is a new system (relatively speaking).

Go ahead and toss up an interest post. If I dont see much more interest in the next few days, Ill probably push the deadline up so we can get the party started.

Thanks!
