Hola Preacher,

Before I go too far down the road my mind has gone, do Psionics count under the 3rd Party ban?

LOL no dhampir this time, although I love playing one. I doubt a dhampir would do well here unless he had some kind of super wish to deal with his skin breaking out in the sun. Nah, will be coming up with something else.

Yes, psionics do fall under the ban. I'm willing to go crazy here (I mean we've already had someone propose a way to build completely loyal and tame tarresque for 23k in gold), but thats...thats to crazy. In my experience Psionics are either completely broken or utterly worthlesss with no middle ground. So hard no

Lol, that's fair. I hadn't really thought much about the actual gameplay mechanically, it was just a fun plot. I'll come up with another one.

Name: Kaylor Pathwarden
Race: Aasimar
Class: Cleric
Age: 105
Personality: Growing up, he was always taught that peace and good will for all is always the best way of life. He kept that belief throughout his life, although he knows it's never easy. He gets along with others well, respecting everyone, from a peasant to a noble. He firmly believes in peace and peace brings benefits to all. He's a kind hearted soul, rather compromise than fight, however, if he has to fight, he can hold his own.

Description: Just under six feet tall, a handsome man of medium build, long blond hair down to his shoulder blades and a smile that makes men feel at ease and women blush. He looks totally human except for his eyes, they are jewel toned with the color of amethyst purple. Although you will see him wear various outfits, he prefers his favorite robe, blue and gold. It's not that he feels more priestly in it, but it holds many deep pockets. Some think he's crazy when seeing him fighting with no armor, not realizing that he has magical armor that can pass off as any type of clothing he desires. He looks armed with only a sword at his left side and a mace at his right side.
right-aligned image

Background: From the city of Korvosa, in the country of Varisia. His holy symbol is an Angelic Ankh, the symbol of Sarenrae. His family has been from a long line of clerics. Named after his father and grandfather, it was his grandfather Kaylor the 1st and his grandmother Marie that were in the history books as heroes. Following in the family footsteps, he grew up in the temple, learning about various gods and how to spread peace and good will and give hope when things looks hopeless. He looks like any other human, except his eyes which shows that he more than just human. He started adventuring when he gotten older, taking an advice from his elders. He had helped built temples during his travels, healing those that needed it and he worked in various hospitals, which come in handy when using up spells. He faced bandits, monsters from weakling kobolds to powerful vampires to the frightening lich. His father helped with him, but his grandfather had helped him the most as he had faced many obstacles and man beings. He does what he can to help others, it's just infused in him and the family. His two brothers and three sisters are off doing their own thing like he is. The name Pathwarden is a mixed blessing, for those that knows the name, knows that the family can be trusted and but some expect almost miracles daily.

Your idea &The Mechanics:

Your Assistant: Her name is Naisa, a Sulis, who is a monk and Magus. Kaylor came across her in his travels and been together since. She became his closest friend, advisor and protector. Not that he needs one, but she insist.
Your Role: Being a cleric of the the goddess of healing. He wants to keep peace and harmony in the city. Makes sure Sarenrae's temple is strong and steady both inside and out. Keep the communications open between other religions, for they all may have different gods, there's no reason they they can't work together. He doesn't see the "We vs them" mentality, whether it's religion, soldiers and guards, servants and other workers. Far as Kaylor is concerned, it's "we". We the people. All are the same, just different duty, doesn't make one more important than the other.

What do you, the player, want: Fun and comrade.

RP Sample: Kaylor's eyes widen as he read the King's Proclamation. "Naisa, did you read this?"

"Sure did, crazy, isn't it? Would a King give a leadership to strangers? It makes no sense. Maybe his mind is going."

"No, it doesn't. Perhaps...he doesn't trust anyone around him, which would be worse than having his mind faltering."

"So what are you planning? You're going there, aren't you?"

He nods. "Yes, need to find out what's going on, it's a shame that whatever ails him, can not be cured."

"But you are going to try?"

"Nay, I'm not that powerful, at least not yet. Still, even the powerful ones has staff or two to help."

"Ok, we go and what for some crazy reason that it's all legitimate?"

"Then my dear, we'll see if we can take over."

"What??" the Sulis looks at the Aasimar like he was from another world.

"Well, we did talk about settling down somewhere, didn't we?" he grins at her with a wink.

"Yes, but as rulers? That's not settling down. You'll have less freedom, less sleep, no time for yourself. No leisure times."

"Well, perhaps not, but the people need a good ruler, a ruler, they can trust and depend on. Can't let a city fall into the wrong hands. Come, lets prepare and we'll leave first thing in the morning." He heads up the stairs to his room in the inn that they are staying at.

She looks at him as he begins to go up the stairs and she shakes his head as she follows. He's crazy she thinks, then she grins as she looks at him again. Yes, he's crazy, crazy because he cares.

Grevexir
right-aligned image

Name: Grevexir
Race: Half Orc
Age: 35 (middle aged)

Description: The most notable thing about Grevexir is his sheer presence. He is a tall, muscled figure, but this is more than matched by the force of his personality. His ruggedly-handsome face is almost always split with a smile, and he carries himself as the most important person in any room. That's not to say he's haughty or self-important, he just has unbridled amounts of self-confidence through the combination of being a fantastic warrior, but moreso chosen by his god.

Background: As far back as he can remember, Grevexir has survived in the world of fighting pits and arenas. As a child without parents he took any odd job he could, everything from cleaning body parts from an arena floor to mucking out the kennels of fighting beasts.

In this environment Grevexir found his biggest strength: piety and faith in the god of war. Alongside his naturally intimidating physique and inborn showmanship, he soon became a fighter and a star of gladiatorial combat. For him, fighting and killing are arts, at least against the right opponents. He wasn't the most skilled warrior around, but he was quite literally blessed due to his faith and became a favourite in the arenas of his homeland.

While he is now past his physical prime, Grevexir's faith and desire for glory has never been greater. There's not a stage big enough for his desire for glory, so the only way forward is to build his own stage.

Note: the god would be the closest equivalent to Gorum in this world, i.e. a god of war with the greatsword as its favored weapon.

Your idea: Grevexir's desire is simple: he wants to build a legendary fighting arena, and become a famed warrior whose name will live forever. In fact, he wants to build and run the greatest colloseum on this plane or any other. This will be a temple dedicated to his two loves, battle and spectacle. He wants to bring the greatest warriors to face off against each other, and against a menagerie of fearsome creatures. He wants to build an arena worthy of the god of war, where tens of thousands can watch as blood is spilled, and learn to appreciate the majesty and beauty of a fight to the death.

The benefits to the city are many. First, people will travel from all across the world (and perhaps beyond) to see the battles that take place here, and they will spend their money when they come. Secondly, a city filled with powerful warriors and mages is a much less attractive prospect for attackers. Third, the arena will require a ready supply of beasts to be kept, which in times of need can be unleashed on the city's enemies instead.

Building an arena may seem like a small goal, but this one is designed to offer extreme experiences. For example: the entire thing can levitate and be surrounded, so that aerial battles can take place. It can be submerged under water, with a barrier (such as a clear wall of magical force) separating the audience from the action so they can watch heroes battle fearsome monsters from the deep.

The mechanics: Now this is the tricky part. The real colosseum in Rome took the best part of a decade to build. However, the Romans didn't have access to magic. Pathfinder offers building and construction costs, which places the cost of buying an arena at 4800gp. There are also rules for fame and reputation. However, I think this goal may be better achieved simply via RP as I don't think these rules are designed for the scale of the operation Grevexir has in mind.

I think there are various steps that would help towards the goal: secure financing for the building and running of the arena, recruit and train warriors, capture ever-increasingly powerful creatures and find ways to house them safely, spread the reputation of the arena far and wide as it grows, and so on. This could involve setting up permanent demiplanes, or areas away from the city with something like gates or teleportation used to bring creatures in for the show. Something similar could be set up for spectators, for that matter.

Your Assistant: Serra is Grevexir's oldest friend. She is a half-elf who specialises in tracking and capturing animals and magical beasts for battle arenas, then keeping them alive and preparing them for battle (specific classes/archetypes to be decided).

Your role: Grevexir is a cleric of a god of war and an experienced warrior. There are few people that are better to lead from the front in the defence of the city. Nor are there many people who more fully appreciate the value of faith, and are able to set an example of piety.

None of that is to say that Grevexir is prone to unnecessary violence. To him, the joy in battle is as much in the challenge as the victory. He finds picking a fight with those weaker than oneself to be most distasteful, and doesn't much care for ugly, mindless violence. Thus security, religion, peacekeeping (of a harsh variety), and development of martial might are where he is going to be most able to contribute. That is in addition to the benefits of his project of making the city a centre of entertainment and an attraction for adventurers looking to make a name for themselves.

What do you, the player, want: I want to explore the sheer variety Pathfinder offers and have a lot of fun taking ambition to an extreme.

RP Sample: To come

Just a heads up to those who have, or those who are planning to apply. With the idea and mechanics part of your applications, could you make them out of character, just so the sake of my own dumb mind and that I fully understand what you're aiming to do
