[Game Thread] Prologue: A New Saga Unfolds

The cold nights and journeying long distances across desert land have no doubt made you rather tired. You had passed a merchant caravan a couple of nights ago however they did not offer you a ride to the nearest settlement. Though you did not make any fuss, you kept walking. The ever dark sky and the few beams of moonlight that penetrate through, served as your only companion. Ever walking you have, and in the distance lays your reward. With what little light to aid you, the sight of a small village with a wooden looking wall to serve as it's only fortification, greets your eyes. You start to make your advance towards the town til the sound of an arrow whirls by your head; missing you just barely.

 

Being an outcast and a vagrant of the waste isn't easy. With only your trusty revolver and your sword to remind you of those days gone by. Aimlessly you roamed this barren land in hopes of finding some sort of place where you can catch your second wind. In your aimless roaming, the sight of a town or anything looking like a town hasn't yielded any results. However this time maybe different. Your eyes scan the distance and spies a small settlement. From this distance there isn't much you can see. You take a few more steps then you find yourself sprinting towards the settlement, relieved that it wasn't your imagination tricking you. As you get closer, the settlement comes into better focus. Small dots of fire light speckled across what you determine is a village. Then the closer you get, the more you see chunks of stone laying about. Then before you know it, you see that the village is composed of individual wagons surrounded by a circle of large stone remnants. However only this is what you can see from you initial observation as you run towards the settlement.

 

Grimsburg, what a suitable name for this town you have stumbled upon in your travels. A sign hanging down from the rather large intimidating archway has the words Grimsburg painted in large red words. The full armored guard standing by the entrance pays you no heed as you enter within the town's dingy stone walls. Rows of stone worn down houses surround you from both sides. They're small buildings however there seems to be an abundant of them. There are quite a few people out however they pass you without giving you any notice. The ground beneath you is a damaged stone road echoing the sounds of the footsteps. Each little building with a window in the front, has a lantern lit. As you make your way, people still take no notice of you.

 

You wait outside the Elder Chambers waiting for the rest of you cell to appear. Engraved upon the surface of the enormous double doors, leading into the Elder Chambers, are intricate designs paying homage to Elders long departed. On each side of the doors are perched two large lit torches serving as the only source of light in this darken secret corridor. However, your wait is not too long. A slight breeze brushes against you and standing in front of you are your two team mates. Myali, a ninja shorter than you and granddaughter to Elder Taik; dressed in similar fashion as you. And the other in your squad, Cyali; brother of Myali and slightly taller than her also dressed in similar fashion as you too. You three were taken in for training around the same age and since have formed a strong unique bond of trust and friendship. However you all know the life of a ninja demands sacrifice at times and sometimes that sacrifice is leaving a friend behind to accomplish the mission. "Sorry for the wait Besihel." apologizes Myali. "Yeah, hope we didn't make you wait too long." Cyali chimes in.

"It is no problem, but we should not make the elders wait." the says Besihel motioning towards the chambers. The elf falls on one knee, says a small prayer and speaks "I suggest we get going."

Sigh is desolation all I will ever see Thought Lyne, as he passed through the dingy town. Atleast there's plenty of people and nice houses perhaps one will know of the volcano I seek or perhaps an obelisk. Lyne engaged the next person he bumped into. Hello there, do you perhaps know of any volcanos near by? I'm looking for one in particular, it's called Mt.Hope he said rather unimpressed with the scruffy looking older man. The man just walked right past him, paying no mind. WILL SOMEBODY ACKNOWLEDGE ME! Screamed Lyne in anger.

"Damn!" the mute thought as he immedietly dropped down onto the desert floor, body flat and his gaze aimed upwards toward the town, "Should have known better.. Lone, armed men approaching in the night isn't usually taken well.." the inner monologue continued as Harnen remained low to the ground, a sinewy arm reaching for his belt where a grimy but large off-white handkerchef sat tucked beside his dagger. his other arm taking the claymore from his back. "This ought to get them to start firing." he thinks to himself before tying the kercheif to the tip of his blade and raising it into the air and waving it.

Ehlor walks into the village slowly. He hopes to be offered food and water, because by now his supply is dwindled down to the bare minimum. At first he was wary because they were set up like a caravan resting for the night more than a village set up permanently with all the wagons, but then he decide that the stone structures were probably their homes..
