How do people feel about running "one-shots"?

I feel you are being optimistic about the speed but the rest seems fine. If its DnD5e you will likely be swamped with applications too.

I played an Eberron One Shot and it took around two years... BUT, we finished it. That is a rare and satisfying thing in PbP.

I've been running a FATE investigation game for the past ten months or so. Slower pace of game is one thing but I also feel we're taking (and enjoying!) freedom to wander away from the breadcrumb trail. I think setting things up as one-shot or short adventure and extending it when needed/desired/possible is the way to go (at least for me)

Yes, definitely go for it if it's calling to you. I started one in June that's meant to last around 3-4 hours at a table. It's still ongoing. My favorite RPGX game was a one-shot that lasted over a year. People want to play and one-shots are easier to commit to because you know they have a definitive ending within reach, especially in this format. If you put an ad up, you'll get apps.

I simply haven’t gotten enough game play to have the expierance to run any thing .
Not enough mask games . Barely learning m&m , never gotten past Lviv 3 on any ch in any other games. So to me there’s no chance of running any games . Joining one is good but if that’s All you get per ch. I think unstead of players having to create a 1 off and never use again. There should be preset chs. For that game only.

Pregens are awesome for one-shots and games on conventions where chargen would significantly bite into the available time. That argument quite falls away on rpgx where a 'one-shot' easily lasts half a year. It might make sense where players are really unfamiliar with the system but even then, I think many (most?) players will feel more involved with a game if they created the char themselves.

More involved till they want to continue that ch but can't so they have over 250 deleted chs that never got off lv 1
