Oh boi... everytime my RL players fight a "boss class" monster, someone always asks if he could make a called shot to either decapitate him, stab him in the heart, kick him in the 'nads, poke him in the eye, cut off his arm... And every time, I have to remind them there are no called shots in 3rd Edition. And every time, the same guy asks, "are you sure?" as if he is a friggin' Windows Operating System.

I like to think that called shots exist on a case-by-case basis, as in: Give me a smegging good reason or you'll be hacking his shield like normal

You mean besides when your players throw it at you and yell "Greataxe," right?

I seriously don't know what people have against the d12. I love classes with it as the Hit Die. And it's always useful when you're on a budget and can't buy a Greatsword.

Greataxe rocks! in NWN I have a dwarf who didnt start with enough money for a greatsword so i became focused and specialized in greataxe. It's a cooler weapon. A giant axe is better then a big sword.

When... (I do DM. RL only, though. >.<)

-The player(s) complains that you won't allow their racist/sexist/etc. backgrounds.

-The player(s) complains that you won't allow their cliche background.

-The player(s) complains that D&D isn't "realistic" enough.

-They hate your house rules, even though THEY'RE the ones who got you UA for Christmas!

-They refuse to play anything lower then Level 6.

-They refuse to play in a WOTC Setting (Namely Eberron)

I pretty much agree with you, Bigby (Can I call you Bigby?) Except for a few things:

I generally find it good roleplaying if the player has a racist/sexist background, in which they are trying to surmount that. If the character themselves is, however, and you're uncomfy with that, sure I agree.

I, myself, really try to shy away from forgotten realms. I dunno why, it's just that I've played them so much in Baldur's gate. I would like to try Eberron, but I'm too poor, frugal, and over-all cheap to buy the books.

Well, that's why I add my little twists to most of the challenges.

Me? no, but I'm a huge fan. I love Order of the Stick. I've never been asked that one before... (I've been told I look like Jack Black, though. Which I don't.)

Or did you mean someone else? I'm sorry if you did.

Ahh, yes... The Order of the Stick... I knew the joke came from somewhere, and when my friend told me, he knew too... well, I'd better alter that to give Rich credit.

When the cleric finds a plot device personal log with all pages but one torn out and goes into a speach about the wonders of the spell Make Whole.

When the cleric decides to charge people for healing and enlightenment. (I've done this a time or two... but only with the player I described in my first post on this thread)
