That's true! It's not a huge issue to rustle one up, in fact a droid can be made as quickly and simply as a biological character. The only difference, if you create your own custom(ised) model, is that you'd have to have a look at those options that go beyond attributes and skills - that'd be things like the type of locomotion, limbs, built-in special equipment and whathaveyou. In game-terms it's in a similar category as the special abilities that some races have.

Doesn't have to stop you though. You could just start out by going through the wiki, looking at common droid types. Maybe something will mostly feel right "off the rack", and that might end up being easiest.

EDIT: If you have an inkling of what Class of droid you'd be interested in I might already have a look around for suitable models.

I'd have no issue with that, though with the common models you'd have some pretty big shoes to fill, like with the HK or IG-88 types.

I leave it up to you to develop the character as you please, but you can also flip the story on its head a bit - take a totally non-combat droid, and say that the Jensaarai reprogrammed him to become something else (or he developed a personality all by himself). That'd be like 4-LOM, the protocol droid turned bouny hunter.

In a way the idea of a separatist droid is an interesting one, given that Nikkos Tyris was briefly (and misguidedly) aligned with Count Dooku. But who knows, some of those protocol or workers droids may also be interesting to turn into a fighter, if that's the type of character you'd want to end up with.

Does Whatever a Spider-Jensaarai Can Name: Sks'chk Kch'sk-Skcha (Also goes by 'Six' among non-Harch) Species: Harch Gender: Female Age: 24 Homeworld: Secundus Ando   Sks'chk Kch'sk-Skcha, or Six, is a member of the Harch, a spider-like species native to Secundus Ando in the mid rim. Like all members of her species she has six arms and six eyes, though she is a bit shorter than species' average at 1.67 meters. Her skin is dark brown and covered with short, brown and tan fur while her hands and feet end in hard, chitinous "claws". Six red eyes with the slightest hint of violet occupy most of the top part of her face while a pair of chelicerae at the sides of her mouth take up the rest. Six typically wears a dark grey, hooded robe with a sash, not too dissimilar to those favored by some Jedi, but has several fine, Harch-made outfits for fancy occasions as befits her noble upbringing. As is also typical of the Harch, her voice is sometimes punctuated by short clicking sounds, a result of some biological difficulties with properly pronouncing basic.   For a frightening-looking spider-like being who prefers to work from the shadows Six is surprisingly chipper. She's usually upbeat and friendly in spite of her species and tends to talk a lot. Six is innately curious but doesn't have the greatest sense of tact in the galaxy and can sometimes ask questions that are a bit too personal for some tastes. While she views her role within the Jensaarai and the protection of others seriously, she does her best to have fun with it so as to not let the hardships and setbacks get her down. Such negative thoughts can never lead to any good in her view. Both due to her noble heritage and the individualistic nature of the Harch in general she is used to getting her way and doesn't like being told no. She has a tendency to think outside the box when approaching problems and can come up with some unorthodox solutions, even if they may not necessarily meet with the approval of her superiors.   Six was born on the Harch homeworld of Secundus Ando, a heavily industrialized world in the mid rim. While most of the population lives in smog-filled factory cities, there are a number of arboreal areas packed with gigantic trees and lush greenery where the wealthy and powerful live, away from the noise and pollution. Six's family is quite wealthy and lives in a luxurious settlement in one of these arboreal zones, where she spent her younger years. Six was an adventurous youth with no hardships to speak of, enjoying the fruits of her family's wealth without ever really knowing about the hardships across the rest of the planet. During an ambassadorial gathering that her family, as part of the nest's wealthy elite, was invited to, a visiting Jedi dignitary sensed the presence of the Force within her and approached her parents about taking her for training. Her parents were delighted and gleefully agreed, not because Six would have the chance to help and serve the galaxy, but because having an offspring in the Jedi order would be very prestigious, and prestige was good for profits and influence alike. Six was too young to understand her parents' self-interest in sending her to the Jedi, but in truth even if she had known it wouldn't have concerned her much. It was just the sort of thing the thrill-seeking Harch girl wanted - the chance to get out into the galaxy and see world beyond her homeworld. As it turned out however, that wasn't what she got. Six's training was a bit difficult due to her independent and uncooperative spirit, and she just didn't seem to fit the Jedi mold very well. The rigid doctrine clashed with not only her nature but her expectations, and the phrase "a Jedi craves not adventure" just didn't seem to stick with her. She wanted to do good in the galaxy, wanted to help people, but the Jedi were completely tied down to their doctrine and rigid beliefs. The masters would insist that the Jedi had done it this way for millennia, but Six understood that the galaxy of today was not the same as it was millennia ago. Things change, people change, the galaxy changes, yet the Jedi were stuck in the same dogmatic beliefs they had always been, afraid that the slightest deviation from their code was a certain path to the dark side. As she grew older she began to grow more and more discontent with the Jedi order and its teachings, frustrated by their seeming unwillingness to see the galaxy as anything other than black and white. The council would have likely dismissed their unruly student had it not been for the intervention of one of their knights, a Rodian named Bawai Naveeda. Like Six, Bawai had a reputation as something of a maverick among the Jedi order. Growing up on Rodia gave her knowledge of stealth, subterfuge, and other roguish skills that didn't properly mesh with the Jedi order, but were very useful nonetheless. Even though she was skilled, powerful, and devoted to the Jedi beliefs, the council still refused to grant her the rank of Master unless she cleaned up her act and fell in line. She was assigned Six as a padawan as part of her "atonement", tasked with bringing the young Harch into line even as she herself fell into it. It was a task that Bawai took to, but confided in Six that it was largely just for show. She promised to encourage Six's individualistic nature and help find ways to make the best use of it rather than try to crush it, and this honesty and understanding alone was enough for Six to believe she had finally found a master who understood her. Bawai trained her well, including training in the arts of stealth and subterfuge that she herself learned when she was young, but there were still philosophical differences between them that grew ever-wider as Six's knowledge and skills grew. Neither of them cared much for the council, but Bawai was still a devotee of the Jedi way where Six was full of questions and doubts. In time the council was pleased enough with Bawai's progress to offer her the rank of Master, but she refused it. In doing so she had gained the power, prestige, and reputation of someone who had attained the rank of Master, but didn't have the responsibilities or oversight of one. A very Rodian ploy to be sure. Though loyal to the Jedi way, she thought the council a bunch of self-centered philosophers too stuck in their ivory towers to understand what was going on in the rest of the galaxy and had no patience for their politics or titles. Likewise they had no patience for those who would pull such a stunt with them, nor with Six whom they still had doubts about. As an unofficial punishment they were both assigned to the Jedi Exploration Corps, a branch of the Jedi dedicated to exploring the outer rim worlds and helping map uncharted space. For most it would be a bland, boring assignment but it also put both Bawai and Six out from under the council's scrutiny with plenty of chances to do actual good and help people in need during their travels. However being out from under the direct supervision of the Jedi council left Six with more time and freedom to reflect upon what she felt were the failings of the Jedi. She could see the good she and her master were doing in the outer rim, but knew it was only because the Rodian was breaking the rules in order to do so. Six couldn't help but think what more they could be doing if not for strict adherence to ancient codes and rules that had no relevance today. It became clear that the Jedi order was not for her, and that the Jedi way was not her own, but she felt trapped. Her release would come when the Clone Wars officially began. She and Bawai were recalled from their distant assignment in order to help the core worlds, but word spread quickly that the republic, and by extension the Jedi, were fighting with a clone army. One of the core traits of the Harch is their individualistic nature, it was part of what caused so many problems with Six and the Jedi order. To her people, the idea of using clones, people manufactured to be, act, and think just like all the others was abhorrent. It was the last straw she needed in order to leave the Order once and for all. Bawai returned to Coruscant, but Six remained in the outer rim. While the Clone War raged on, Six continued to helping people in need. When Order 66 came down there were no clones around her and she was able to escape the initial slaughter. Word got out quickly enough and she was able to disappear before any of the clones came looking for her. Unwilling to simply disappear and hide she moved around often and refrained from using her Force abilities, but still did what she could to help people in need. Six was on the planet of Lothal when the desperate people of that planet, having long begged the galactic senate for relief from drought and illness, received word that the newly-formed galactic empire would be seeing to their needs. Unfortunately this came in the form of Imperial troops and machinery razing entire sections of the planet in order to make way for mining facilities. At the head of some of these initial forays was an Imperial officer with no regard for the population of the planet he was invading by invitation. Several people who resisted the Empire's eviction efforts turned up dead, as did some who were protesting the swath of destruction the Empire was bringing to the land. Six took it upon herself to intervene, disrupt the occupying force, and avenge the civilians killed by the officer. During her infiltration she encountered another trying to do the same thing, but for different reasons. It seemed the officer had come too close to discovering several key Jensaarai operations for comfort before his reassignment to Lothal. The covert Jensaarai was dispatched not only to put a stop to the cruel officer's torment of the people, but to ensure that his investigations ceased. The two Force-users, realizing they were there for the same reason, decided to join forces but neither divulged that they were Force-users. By the time they reached the officer however the opposition against them was too great for them to keep it a secret any longer, and both were forced to use not only their Force abilities but their lightsabers in order to succeed and escape with their lives. The officer was killed in an explosion and the Imperial mining facility was set aflame but the official words dispatched by the emerging Empire was that it was industrial sabotage. As for the saboteurs, there was great mutual surprise that the other was a Force-user as well as mutual denial that either of them were Jedi. The Jensaarai had a brief talk but instructed Six to lie low on one of the outlying farms while he conferred with his superiors. One of these superiors was Diaboye Bede who knew of Six's discontentment with the Jedi from when she herself was among them. There were several visits to and from Lothal, many interviews and much vetting, but finally Diaboye invited Six to join her and become one of her apprentices with the Jensaarai. Finding their own philosophies much like her own, Six eagerly accepted, escaping Lothal before the Imperial occupation force could arrive in full.   Master: Diaboye Bede Lightsaber: Six wields a double-bladed lightsaber (lightstaff) with a dark violet blade, as well as two short, traditional, kukri-like weapons. With stealth and subterfuge as part of her skill set it pays to have weapons at her disposal that don't hum and glow with a bright light. Style: Six is familiar with all seven forms of traditional Jedi lightsaber combat but does not follow any of them as they all share one fundamental weakness. Namely that they were developed to be used by bipedal, two-armed fighters, which the Harch are not. Rather than limit herself she has developed her own form of lightsaber combat based upon the Harch martial art of Chk'sha Ksh'vshkak, loosely translated as "way of the spinning web". This style uses a spear, staff, or polearm along with a pair of short blades and two empty hands. The style involves a lot of misdirection, changing grips frequently so as to direct a weapon in ways that a creature with two arms cannot match in an effort to confuse and overwhelm an opponent. It is difficult for Harch to keep up with a skilled combatant, and those unaccustomed to fighting an opponent with six arms have an even more perilous time trying to fight against it. Stylistically it most resembles Ataru, but remains a unique form as befitting the individualistic mindset of the Harch and Six's unique biology among the order. Force Strengths: Six specializes in using the Force to manipulate and control her inner self. She disdains the flashy, attention-grabbing aspects of the Force in favor of subtlety, and is trained in the arts of stealth and subterfuge as well. She also has some skill in mental manipulation with getting others to simply not notice her being a favorite technique.

Physical description and personality: PK8-08 stands nearly four feet tall and is constructed of durable alloys that provide him a frame that made him suitable for construction in inhospitable environments. As with other PK8s, he is painted yellow, though this has become faded and scratched with age. Despite being a droid, he does posses an anatomy that resembles that of a humanoid.

Even before gaining his freedom, PK8 has always been fiercely protective of the Jensaarai, doing whatever he can to protect them and their agenda. He is friendly and enjoys having conversations with anyone. Although he has begun to experience emotions, such as anger and happiness, there are still many that he struggles to understand and express. In general, humor is lost on him.

General Background:
PK8-08 was purchased by the Jensaarai in the year 22 BBY to aid in the building of their halls and other structures. As per usual with the purchase of any droid, PK8's memory was wiped before being sent on his way to aid in the construction.

During the Jedi assault in 20 BBY and their attempted capture of Nikkos Tyris, PK8 was preset during the battle and ultimately damaged when the Sith Holocron was destroyed. PK8 was repaired and put back to work, this time to rebuild what he had spent the last couple of years building.

Several years pass with not much changing for PK8, despite the Clone Wars ending, the Republic coming to an end, Palpatine issuing Order 66, and the fall of the Jedi Order, those on Susevfi remained sheltered from the chaos swirling in the galaxy around them.

In 17 BBY, Palpatine sent a small contingent of inquisitors to hunt down and destroy what he believed to be the relatively small group of Jensaarai. One of the inquisitors came upon a resource gathering station that was still under construction. PK8-08 had been sent there to assist with the building. Only a handful of Jensaarai were present to oversee the construction, along with several of their children, two of which were force sensitive. The inquisitor was closest to the children's location when he approached the station and sensed their presence, as he had been trained to do...

 

PK8-08 had been nearing completion on a building that children liked to play in while they were at the station with their parents. He stopped what he was doing as a person PK8 had never seen before approached.

"Greetings," PK8 said as the unknown human enter the building. "May I be of assi.."

The lightsaber struck PK8 directly into his chest, knocking him onto his back. He remained powered down for a few seconds before his systems began to come back online. The saber had miraculously struck his restraining bolt, destroying it and leaving a gash in his durable frame. As he sat back up and began to rise, he could see the man that had attacked him was now fighting with the children. Two were already knocked to the ground, though they still appeared to be alive. The third child took a kick to the chest and was sent sprawling to the ground, gasping for breath as the wind had been knocked from his lungs.

The inquisitor took a step forward and smiled, raising his lightsaber, its pulsing red light reflecting menacingly off the metal of his helmet. He was about to bring his weapon down when several orange mechanical fingers wrapped around the hilt of his saber and hand, gripping them tightly.

The man's eyes went wide by the unusual actions by the droid. "Release me," he ordered.

PK8 began to squeeze harder.

The inquisitor screamed. "Release me right now!"

But, instead of following the command given to him, PK8 did something he had never done before. He said, "no". A second later the inquisitor's hand and lightsaber were crushed together in PK8's vice-like grip. With his other hand, he struck the man in the chest, sending him sliding across the floor and into a pillar.

The inquisitor rose and clutched his crushed hand to his chest and ran off the way he had come. The Jensaarai appeared a moment later, lightsabers buzzing as they entered the building, only to find a lone worker droid standing over the three children.

PK8 was brought before the Saarai-kaar herself, Rasa Anim. She listened to what had happened, thankful the inquisitor had not seriously harmed the children. She spoke with PK8 at length and came to the conclusion that he indeed was self aware and had his own desires. She determined that to wipe his memory and fit him with another restraining bolt would unconscionable.

From that day onward, he became a member of the Jensaarai, learning as much as he could, and eventually even joining missions off-world.

 

How are they otherwise (as a non-sensitive) tied to the Jensaarai? see background/Rp sample

How much do they believe in the cause of the Emissaries? PK8 believes in the ideals of the Jenwai Midwan and thinks it is good to protect others that need help and to bring more members into the Jensaarai. The emissaries' support of Rasa Anim also line up with his own.

How did they feel about the corruption of the founder of the order? PK8 does not understand the differences in philosophy between the Jedi, Sith, and others, but he did find that everyone seemed happier after Nikkos Tyris and his followers were killed, which made him happy.

What are their strengths? PK8-08 has expanded on his default role of building things, and has become proficient in engineering, mechanical, and computer skills. His skills have allowed him to work on his own frame and programming, which he has done frequently since gaining his freedom. He has integrated a weapon or two and is capable of holding his own in combat if needed.

Who is their Master? Although not his master, he was told not to refer to anyone with that title anymore, PK8 does defer to Rasa Anim as his 'leader'.

In addition, after gaining his freedom, PK8 began to develop a friendly relationship with Diaboye Bede, the former Jedi seemingly always having time to answer what could be perceived as his child-like questions. They have spent much time together over the years simply talking, but also training PK8 as well. She is the first person he has ever thought of as a friend.

Palladia, Silent - looking great! I've added you both to the table, very interesting stuff as far as I can see on first glance, I will have some more in-depth feedback to you today.

Now interestingly enough we've got our third character that has/would like to have Diaboye Bede as their master. I'd say three apprentices is still in the realm of possibility, as the average number of apprentices is "2,7". I'll put out a description for Diaboye out later, and I may also detail another defender just to give more options. Then we can talk about whether we'll leave things like they are or whether somebody might want to switch. No pressure, as I said all three characters could be feasibly picked up at the same time.

Given the fact that we had a bit of "piling" on to one npc I decided to increase the number of Defenders by 2, detailing the same amount and at least giving the races for the 4 defenders as of yet un-outlined. It may lead to some people reconsidering or new people coming in having more options in general.

However, bumps the defender/apprentice ratio down to 2,2 - so people training 3 apprentices became a little rarer, though still not unheard of.
