It's not like that, everyone. I've just been busy, that's all, and it's been hard to find the time to make an in-character post here.

Sorry for my lateness, analysis paralysis strikes again! I will have a post up tomorrow at the latest.
97mg, Rana got a longbow and 20 arrows as part of her Fighter starting kit, but I don't plan for her to keep it. I figure she got it from someone in the village to try it out but decided it wasn't her thing, and will pass them on to someone else as part of that village trade-and-barter goodness. Anyway, I plan to namedrop the person she got it from; do you have NPCs in mind that would be likely to give her a bow in this manner? If not, I'll just make someone up. |

I love your writing of Rana. As for pulling the sled, I kinda figured Wyl could help for a few hours at least pulling as a human, and then when exhaustion sets in, wild shaping into a draft horse or the equivalent. But I think, this being town business, there should be a stipend for us working for the town , rental fees comped by the council, maybe.
(Rolls persuasion vs DM)

Hi Team!
@Snicker: You can sell the longbow and arrows for their book value if you like, no worries. I know I originally said we should do this IC, but right now the village's prices for stuff are the same as the rulebooks (this won't always be the case though, they will fluctuate). You are free to just sell them to Lorgen's Protective Gear if you want. If you wanted to buy something in exchange from Lorgen's, that's cool. Just let me know what you want because stock is limited hehe. If you want something that's not available there, we'll work out together if there is an NPC around who might have what you want. With the dogs and sled, let's say that a benefit of working with them is that you can use them usually whenever you like! A council "mission" would totally allow their use at no cost. However, if you'd rather outright own your own sled and doggie(s), then the NPC to deal with is a female elderly halfling named Geirhild, who manages their care and helps feeding and tending to them with you. She has a daughter, a 30-year-old halfling named Fiora. I'm sure for whatever book-rate is in coin, she'd let you happily take whom and whatever you like, into your personal custody Up to you! Noquarter19: The wild shaping idea is genius! We have to do this XD

Loving the characters in this game so far, thanks 97mg for running the adventure and everyone else for joining.
I don't think we would need two sleds; I just planned on walking, and certainly don't mind pulling the sled if we didn’t want to put dogs in harms way. As for things during travel, I'd like to keep an eye out for any herbs/medicinal plants, assuming it is possible to even find anything during the storm at all - though if this is going to add too much to our travel time, I would say skip it. Did the directions we were given indicate how long time-wise to the cave? I believe you said it's 12 hours before we suffer ill effects from the cold?

I love our team and characters too! This is really fun to run for you folks
You're totally welcome to keep an eye out for any useful herbs or goodies along the way. You never know! Give me a perception check when the time comes, and in the background I'll roll for a random chance of something useful being out there. Time-wise, I shared some info with Rana... which she would probably have shared along the way anyway. Roughly 4 hours one-way on foot, or half that on-sled. Either way you can be there and back before night sets in too hard. The advantage of on-foot is being able to be quieter and less noticable... if that's a concern during a blizzard hehe. Hypothermia is an hourly check, with advantage if you're suitably attired (which we'll assume everyone is lol), DC12 Con save or a point of exhaustion. This might play into if you end up riding sleds or not. If you wanted more than two sleds for the trip, let me know and we can work out a deal Anyone with a nice STR could probably put Aeona into a sack and cut out a hole for her face to peer out of XD.

Quote:
I think the hourly checks are a sufficiently severe threat to necessitate the sleds. The individual threats aren't that tough, but they're high enough to only be one mediocre roll away from any of us, and exhaustion is a major disadvantage that is hard to remove. EDIT: Also, just a heads up - I'm traveling this Easter weekend and may not be able to post. I should be back sometime Monday. Last edited by Snicker; Mar 29th, 2024 at 02:15 AM.
