I agree. Like Rhazor said "Bether shearsh for a waoy aroundsh thish curshed garden!" which means Better search for a way around this cursed garden! - if you don't wear your wet vest as mask.

So the radius basically takes you to theedgeof the jungle. If you'd like you can push through the jungle to a more advantageus location. A perception check or survival will work. If you have other ideas we can use those instead.

I see. I didn't realize that the fey temple was immediately next to the beach. I thought everything was way more spaced out than it probably is.
@delpinator: Could you give us a rough estimate of how many hours of travel our characters would expect it to take to reach the mountain which has been pointed out to us? @team: I'm really interested in solving the riddles of the fey temple, but Cha-kra wasn't the one to decide on that course of action, so I'd like to give another player the opportunity to bring it up first. @delpinator: I was going off of my recollections before, but I made sure to read back up on it, and going by Thri-kreen physiology Cha-kra actually breathes through breathing holes within his carapace. So, can we say that the mouthcover didn't actually give him any advantage? He made the checks even without the advantage. I imagine that he hoped that immitating Rhazor would help him too, but by now he would be aware that it doesn't. Basically, Cha-kra's physiology is the reason he reacted so strongly to the airborn hazard. For anybody that's curious, he's also really bad at swimming because of his physique. He really hates the ocean, though maybe it was hard to tell. He has been putting on a brave face after all. ![]()

If you had a path I'd say about 3 hours but with rough terrain your looking at 6 hrs. With the ship travel your looking at getting to the mountain later into the day or possibly sun set.
Yeah that works for me. That's some crazy physiology. |

delpinator, is the grung speaking in common or primordial?
Does it seem like the garden is small enough that it could be crossed while holding their breath? |

If it's that small, we could also just walk around. I think we need a short overview about the distances. I have no feeling how close or far our destination(s) is/are.

The grung is speaking primordial.

5e is very forgiving of loss of breath. A PC can hold their breath for [1+CON modifier] minutes, a minimum of 30 seconds. A character can survive suffocating longer than that, but I think for these purposes we probably have to just consider how long they can hold their breaths. Cha-kra is the weak link. With his 8 CON, he can only go 30 seconds, just enough to make it. If anything slows the PCs, Cha-kra, and maybe Snap Kick (just one minute, but high movement) will have trouble. Any pirates are presumably vulnerable too. But Arrogaio can make it 4 minutes - 24 rounds - so he should be able to drag at least a few out if nothing stops him. Edit: Irrelevant; see below. If holding one's breath is not effective (RAW that doesn't work against inhaled poison), at least delpinator gives us advantage on the save with masks. I don't see anything in RAW saying Thri-Kreen breath through their skin pores? Is that a RP flavor?

Ugh. TIL. So never mind everything I said.
With a +1 (Rhazor and Briggs), you're about 50/50 to make four saves with ADV. The real trouble starts after you miss one, because you then get -d4. Each PC other than Snap Kick needs five or six saves, depending on when in the turn they're rolled. The total odds are very hard to calculate, but I don't think there's any question some will drop during the trip. OK; new plan. I edited my IC post. |

@secretID: Worst case, Cha-kra could also use a spell slot to boost his movement speed. It seems like a waste though.

I'm open to other plans, BTW, even though Arrogaio doesn't seem like it. |
