Lol. I too found the word count frustrating, and part of me wishes I'd give a different description. I went for a more story-like narrative, when I probably should've been more outright with it, describing the village as it was instead of as the character knew it.

Okay, I'm going to ask the dumb question here: What's the point of spoilering the vote if we put the names in the spoiler code? Doesn't that defeat the purpose?

What Hugga means is put your votes in a spoiler so that they cannot be seen without opening that spoiler. But please refer to the entries by the names our chairman gave them on HIS spoilerbuttons on the first post, presumably because this will make counting the votes infinitely more easy than if your refer to them some other way (i.e. 'the third one from the bottom' or 'the water one').

Sorry to hear you missed out! But you could always still participate in round 0 voting if your quick!

Also, for those of you who found the word count restrictive: Welcome to the wonderful world of Iron DM, that's never going to change in the coming rounds. You get higher word limits, but that just means you have to fit more into your entry.

Now that I've read through all the entries and voted-- I have to agree with the remarkable amount of overlap between some entries. I think it's interesting that this happened with the only "ingredient" being town or village. I wonder if we'll see some exacerbation of that when we're required to use several specific ingredients.

I would think slightly less overlap with the introduction of more variables.

Yeah, figured as much too
With so little to go on and with such a large starting restriction it was likely we'd fall back on archetypes

Probably correct. While introducing more required features i.e. the requirement that a spoon be present in our town removes all possible towns that are spoonlessnecessarily restricts the sample space, it also adds focus i.e. now that attention has been brought to the spoon, why is there a spoon? Perhaps drinking the correct soup from the correct spoon causes a heal spell. Perhaps, for whatever reason, the spoon has been turned into a symbol of rule. Maybe the entire town lies in a spoon-shaped depression that funnels water down into a central lake.which can help with creativity.

So we're steering away from specifics in our discussion. Are we not simply to allow everyone the fairest shot, merit based on first blush and not analysis?

Thanks. I was sure I was missing something, but my brain was adding one plus one and getting triangle.

Kind of curious how the voting is going. Then again I'd probably be disappointed as to where I'm ranking right now.

Eh, I tossed an entry in assuming I was going to be completely outclassed simply due to experience, so I'll be happy if I manage to get a single vote.
