She sighs again. "She's a former regular of mine, from back in Sharak, who got a little too attached to me. She's half the reason I moved away actually." She presses her fingers to her temples for a moment, as if trying to stave off a headache. "Rude is...disappointing. I liked him, even if he looked to be going down the same road as her, in more ways than one. He's a drunk and she's a Lakarn of Gluttony. A handy tip for you: don't assume too much about a Lakarn based on their 'sin' or they'll surprise you." She reaches into a drawer and pulls out a sending stone. "I don't recognise the other two by name or description. Out of interest though-" She turns after putting the stone away again and levelling a suspicious look at Leon. "-how is it that you know 'Mutt' is a spy?" ~MTWC

Oh crap. Léon mentally bitchslapped himself. "So you could be their target. They're only one of the search parties." He hoped this would divert her attention from his momentary lapse.

'Miss Levayan' doesn't fall for the obvious attempt to change the subject. "Look, you don't last long in my profession if you can't read people and I'm not buying that for a moment." She looks between the three of them. "So, who are you really and what are you doing here?"

Léon sighed and gave his companions a questioning look. "We're a search and rescue team sent by the king. I believe you are the target of the Lakarn and similar posses. Which leads me to think that you have something they want. If we can prevent that from falling into the wrong hands, then my work here is done."

That highly possible threat being mentioned again, Mrith got to think that now that they were so close they probably wouldn't idly stand by for long. It might be a good idea to prepare for the possibility that they would visit them soon.
"As he said. In fact, they may be on their way here as we speak. Would you let me lay a ward on you so that I do not hurt you if I have to pull out the fireworks. Just in case." |

The prostitute continues to look dubious, especially towards Leon's explanation, however she nods her head in assent to Mrith's offer. "Well, if that is the case, then I have no idea what it is they cold be wanting. All I possess is in this room and while I've a few magical trinkets, I don't have anything that should make King Ferrin himself believe I need looking out after." She glances towards her drawers again. "I think I had best send another message downstairs though, just in case of 'fireworks' as you said."

She has got a point. Léon started to pace back and forth. "So the Lakarn was one of your clients. And one of her croonies was talking to Jal about..." What was it again? "That Rude guy seemed to be interested in one of the girls. And he looked pissed when Jal suggested you to us. So for real now, could it be you they're after? What do you know about the Lakarn?"

Mrith suppresses a smile at the mention of the region's king. Not being very specific led to that kind of misunderstanding, thought it wasn't much of an issue.
"I am under the impression that your belongings do not interest them. They use the chaos to make certain people disappear. Perhaps members of a particular faction. There is something devastating on its way and this is probably part of preparations to get rid of those that could be a problem then." |

She frowns in response to the question. "Me? Well, she was close to causing trouble before, but I can't think why she'd hunt me down with the help of others. At least, not unless..." She pauses, her frown deepening. "...unless they're moving against Inanna in general, but why would they do..." Her eyes widen. "That's why they're not attacking the nations, they must be striking at their rivals, not mortals at large." She runs over to the drawers and takes out the stone again and uses it, although judging by her expression the news isn't good. "There's no response. It might be that he's-" They hear a startled scream cut short coming from far away - perhaps the initial corridor they had been brought through?

As he heard the scream, Léon's instincts took over. "Is there another exit from this place? We need to get the **** out of here." He asked as he started to push a closet in front of the door. "Give me a hand." The thief ordered his companions.

That was what she had imagined.
Her confirmation of her suspicion, so soon followed by the ruckus going on outside only made it all the more clear. She tried to relax herself, now that things were heating up. She'd have to keep a cool head in fear of losing in battle and destroying everything. "I have a scroll of teleportation. I could take us all away from here. I can otherwise open a dimension door for myself and one other person." She glanced at the Sharakan, half expecting a possible exit, then at Léon, expectingly. "Fight for flee?" |

"Flee." Léon answered. "Always pick a fight on your own terms."

Mrith inhaled noisily. She was fine with fleeing. It was the smart thing to do.
A fight was pointless as they had little to gain if perhaps a little interrogation. But keeping people alive to get to that point wasn't her forte. However, she had been expecting a fight and was now hitching for one. "They are not on their own terms themselves. I could... breath a few walls of energy at the entrance that would cripple them good. It would not affect us. Unless someone else can use the scroll, I can leave with her right away. Otherwise I can buy us some time if you'd rather escape by some other venues." It would be great if she had more space to fly around but the lack of space only made it easier to bath them all with her elemental cocktails. Last edited by Blue; Aug 13th, 2014 at 12:59 AM. |

"I could construct a meatshield to keep them occupied while you box them in." Léon suggested. "Then we run for it. Remember the fallen down temple about 300 yards back? We meet at its front door. You take Misa, I take the prostitute. Then we go to the ground."

He was still halfway through his instructions that she activated the power of her diadem. A mass of swirling darkness enveloped her, concealing her. Within the darkness, she changed back into her dragon skin and slithered toward the door before her claws latched her to the ground. She had figured they would be fighting at least a little.
"Got it. I'll step into the hallway and get things started. They won't be able to see all the way here so be ready to dash away as soon as it is up." |
