[Game Thread] (Kajera) Ch. 1 - ELVES IN SPAAAAACE

xxx Kajera took a few gulps of the stale air, and stepped clear of the wall, as the creature backed away from him. Carefully listening to the explanation of the warp, he analysed it as best he could, working through each plane in turn to see if the words would apply before giving up. "I know of no such place that does all that you have described to me, so it seems that I at least, am not familiar with this Warp that worries you so." It then asks about following Kajera through realities, an idea that had not occurred to the Magus. While the thing clearly had a lot of knowledge that could be useful to him, its manners were very disconcerting, and Kajera was not sure he fancied extending this relationship that was clearly weighted in the being’s favour. Diplomatically he replied "The means of travelling between these planes are varied, and the more powerful ways do allow for others to join the caster, but as I said I have not even come close to mastering the most basic of these spells myself. Plus, should I gather the ability to do so, I have my own quest to recover what was taken from us ahead of me, which may not align with your motives"

Tilt The tech-priestess tilted her head, thinking over his statement. It wasn't incorrect: her goals would most definitely not match up with his... but still, she was interested in finding out more about these other planes. "Acknowledged. Our ultimate designs may not coincide, but our primary objectives do. You seek to leave and find a lost item for your people. I seek knowledge. My task can be accomplished simply by following you, and I shall reciprocate your acquiescence to accompany you by providing technological aid. Do you agree to the terms and conditions?"

Bow Kajera looked at the thing in front of him, and while the sight of it repulsed him, he had to admit that from looking round it had technical knowledge far in advance of anything that Kajera had ever seen before. Plus the truth was right now that the Alarian had no idea how to plane jump across to somewhere he was more familiar with in order to get back on the track of these thieves, and having a high ranking individual such as this thing seemed to be alongside him in this unfamiliar environment would surely be an advantage. Looking at the various appendages of the creature, Kajera decided not to shake on the deal, and instead copied a custom from another of the tribes on their planet and bowed formally to the creature. "We have a deal, you are welcome to follow me should I discover how to move through the planes, and as such you will provide me what technical aid is available to you"

Beep. The mechanical woman grinned widely, and bowed in return. As she opened her mouth to speak again, red lights suddenly began flashing around them, followed a split-second later by a loud siren. A screeching series of tones echoed from somewhere above the two, which the woman seemed to understand. "You desired information regarding the Warp. This is your chance to see it first-hand. We are under attack." Without saying another word, the woman moved past him, her tendrils carrying her down the hallways of the facility and into the rooms beyond. With nothing else to really do, Kajera would follow, eventually ending their small trek at what looked to be an armory. The place was filled to the brim with weapons and cybernetic armor. All along the rows and shelves, he could see technological murder tools of all shapes and sizes... including some intriguing sword- and spear-shaped items that glowed with internal power. "Arm yourself. Combat required."

Black Sword of Sigismund please Kajera followed the woman through the corridors, longing to get back out into the open spaces, away from the claustrophobic spaces, and smell of grease and machines that seems to linger everywhere. That internal reflection stopped when he got sight of the armoury, and the huge range of weapons apparently open to be chosen freely from. A number of the items were variations on weapons he was fully familiar with such as swords and spears, just with some sort of enchantment present on them. Others seemed similar to the black powder weapons he had heard about, but never seen, all be it significantly more advanced. While he felt the urge to go through them all in turn, and learn exactly how they all operated, and the technology behind them, he realised he didn't have the time for such an exercise. Therefore, prioritising, and hoping he could return later to study these items at his leisure he grabbed what appeared to his eyes as the most useful weapons from the racks, confident that he could work out how to use them on his approach to the battlefield, and then turned to the woman "OK, I am ready for combat, are we travelling far to reach the battle?"

OOC I don't have Knowledge Engineering, so these are going to be intelligence checks to work out what he goes for out of the options available: Grab the most powerful two handed weapon he can see, minor preference to swords Dice Roll: 1d20+5 (10)+5 Total = 15 Grab the most powerful pistol he can see, preference to something with less obviously limited ammo (so plasma or laser pistol rather than a stub pistol) Dice Roll: 1d20+5 (8)+5 Total = 13 Grab a defensive item / armour that is better than his parade armour, that he can use while wielding a 2 handed weapon. Note it needs to fit while his wings are still useable (preference therefore to some sort of force shield) Dice Roll: 1d20+5 (6)+5 Total = 11

lol no As he quickly examined some of the weapons, it quickly became clear to him that the technology level here was leagues beyond anything he'd ever seen. A glorious greatsword he picked up had a small pack attached to it, along with a switch. Flicking it, he'd find the sword heating up with electrical power, glowing in his hands. With another glance around, he'd spy a large pistol-like device. Upon picking it up, he'd find it thrumming with energy. Finally, he notices a crimson robe resting upon a mannequin. It has a few rosaries resting upon it, and he can feel magical energy around it, creating a small field of protective energy. As he equipped all of his new items, the woman turned back to him to reply to his question. "No. They will be coming to us. Follow." She led him through another winding set of hallways, coming to a sudden end at a pair of double-doors. As she slammed the doors open, the two step out onto a large balcony. As his eyes adjusted to the light, he gazed out over the endless dunes... and there, far off in the distance, was an army of the damned. Demons of all shapes and sizes were rampaging towards the base, a veritable host of fiends...

Still alive, had a busy few weeks, then shame held me back returning Kajera ran through yet more of the endless corridors that seemed to dominate the building, noticing that despite the creatures bent appearance, it still displayed a good sense of speed, and seemed very at home at the base it seemed to manage. Arriving at the balcony, he took in some air, which despite all the heavy machinery still around, at least had the hint of freshness that he had missed down in the building. Noticing the horde of demons approaching, he actually strangely felt more at home than he had at any time previously in this land. Though they were alien beings, at least he was previously aware of them, and was able to label and understand them, something he struggled to do with most of the other sights in this land. Taking a breath, he drew his power inwards, and touching his chest let some magic Cast protection from evilflow through into his body before turning to the machine he had aligned himself with. "So how do we feature in the defense of this place?" he asks, wings stretching out in preparation for flight.

No worries, pal. I've slowed down my posting lately to avoid burning out. The tech-priestess stared out over the dunes, barely acknowledging that Kajera had said anything. Her metal tendrils writhed underneath her as two massive steel "arms" rose out of her back, each unfolding into massive cannon-like weapons charging with plasma. "My place is here. Conversion Beam Artillery systems charging. Will provide long-range fire support. Ideal location for entity: Kajera... there." She points into the air, where the angel could see a set of winged fiends approaching rapidly. Looking around, he could see the vast majority of her army was earthbound; they had no air support at all. No, that wasn't true... they had Kajera. He could fly.

Pew, Pew, Pew Realising that up in the skies away from the chaos of a battle that he didn't understand was indeed probably the best location for him, he extended his wings and jumped off the balcony, dropping out of sight, only to reappear a few moments later with long steady beats of his wings as he headed up towards the fiends, trying to keep his body steady as he drew his pistol and sighted on one of the creatures before squeezing the trigger. Feeling the kick of the pistol as it discharged it’s shot towards the creature he looked on with interest to see what level of damage this strange artefact would be able to inflict upon the beast

rawr The pistol gave little recoil as it projected raw energy into the demon. Kajera studied the monster as the bolt struck it in the face, burning out one of the fiend's eyes. It screeched in pain, drawing the attention of a few others. All four of them made a beeline towards their new target, screaming and roaring with fury at him. While they rushed at him, Kajera realized that he'd have another shot at the monsters before they actually came close to him.
