I'm waiting for the day to finally surprise my players with a mimic. I've never done it before, but I really want to.

fun story, we were doing the death house from curse of strahd. my barbarian was angry about being stuck in the house so he is kicking open ever door as hard as he can to punish the house. everyone jokes about how how one of the doors is going to be a mimic. the warlock gets angry and kicks a door. its a mimic. the one door i didn't kick. we all had a good laugh

My current table campaign, my party and I were at sea, and saw a floating wreck. We of course come alongside and board to investigate.

The whole damn ship was a mimic.

We went through some things guys, not gonna lie. Still wake up in a cold sweat sometimes dreaming about it.

By the way, normally Almavalesh would have been something that Earlamar could have easily avoided, but I really wanted to demonstrate the description that them bumping into each other provided. I hope it didn't embarrass your character too much, maybe I ought to have checked beforehand.

If you had checked, it probably wouldn't have been as much fun to play-off of as it was now. I think the narrative choice to do so does clarify the state of the dream the group is in - and allowed me to attempt at humor too. So, win-win.
