Glad to be here!
Hello all. I'm pretty excited to get involved and start posting a bit, communities like this seem rare these days.I am really looking for games that are being ran in Pathfinder Second Edition but I would also play in something with a more loose ruleset that focuses on narrative. I've done some play by post gaming before and am interested in seeing where it can take me. I like the relaxed pace and having time to actually think of something good to say. DMing and playing in ttrpg's is likely my favorite hobby but I also draw and read a lot. Currently I have around 150 pages left in Fyodor Dostoyevsky's The Idiot and I am loving it! I have a soft spot for fools who try to come off as wittier than they really are so Ferdyschenko is close to my heart. I have a lot of characters I've really loved playing as over the years ranging from pushovers to jolly fools and cold opportunists. Also I am more of a recent fan of the Guilty Gear games and it was a real treat seeing one of the avatar options was Testament! |

We're glad to have you here! There are quite some PF2 games on the site, so if you keep an eye open on the Games Seeking Players board youu'll likely see something sooner or later. Or jump in on a less known system and let it surprise you. We can always use more GMs it seems, so if you want to offer your own, that's very welcome too.

GlimmerWisp! I LOVE The Idiot and want to hear more about your impressions of it ... there aren't many in the Ferdyshchenko fan club!
Sounds like you have some great play by post and rpg experience. What was your favorite specific character of that wide variety of types you listed? And what was their fate?

He also knew when things got serious though and would drop some sage knowledge that would catch people off guard. There was a former student turned ghoul we found in the school catacombs who had somehow retained a bit of her sentience. The whole party took interest in helping her which for Wukong meant giving a yoga class focused on feeling at home in your body and feeling your will extend through it. Sadly that campaign couldn't last because it was being played over video call and a lot of our schedules were already being stretched to accommodate a player living in Australia. After about 18 sessions they needed the rest of us to stay up even later to keep the game rolling which we just couldn't make happen. I wish we could have continued in a play by post format but the other players just didn't have much interest. Thanks for your question! I'll send it right back to you! What is one(or a couple) of your favorite characters B-Badger? |

Welcome!
I would not say we are rare, I like to think of our little sandbox as Well Done! That joke aside, let's get to the meat and greet part of the post, where I say hello and welcome, and hope you have a great time here. I won't grill you though, just wish you happy gaming!

My gaming experience has been almost exclusively on PbP, so most all of my favorite characters are here. And you always have a fondness for your first characters, don't you? Fo me, that woud be: Tambovsky, a human warrior in Rasgorn and Horseman's Reluctant Heroes world , who has gone through 5 days of real misery in the four years I've been playing him; then there's Arquiztex, an opinionated lizardfolk rogue with a regal outlook on the world and her place in it (I think that thread is closed).

Howdy glimmerWisp,
Great name choice there. Does it have any meaning to you? I love to read as well and my tastes run towards actual history or historical fiction although in truth I'll read just about anything if it is good. I have found the PbP format certainly allows for more thoughtful and deliberate storytelling. In addition, I have found it also encourages a deeper connection to PCs, making decisions, often "life and death," for the PC that much more important and fun! We have some games on this site that have gone of for years, even decades. As an introduction, I'm a D&D 5e player, but I also love L5R, King Arthur Pendragon, GURPS, and RuneQuest. Tell us a bit more about yourself. What systems other than PF2 do you play? How about genre, do you prefer high magic, low magic, historical fiction, high tech, horror, sci fi/future tech, etc.? Do you have a favorite character class, race? Do you know how much wood a woodchuck chucks, if a woodchuck, could chuck wood? There are a lot of choices for various RPG systems here, although PF and D&D are the two most common. We have quite a few games with very long legs here. In fact, I talk about one below. To start, you may want to check out a solo game. This will help you learn the site tools, since each site is a bit different. As far as finding games goes, try here. This is where there are games seeking players. It can be a bit daunting but don't give up. It may take a few applications before you get accepted...but it's worth it once you're in. This is a great place to scratch your RPG itch and interact with some great DMs and players. There is some incredible role playing going on here. I thought I was a pretty good story teller, but I have been put to shame by the quality of many of the players...and I have learned a lot. This is a place where the people are welcoming, where the games are interesting, and where generally they only expect you to post a few times a week. I've been playing D&D for a very long time and I thought I've seen it all, but this site has some amazing games going on. I've been playing (storytelling as much as rolling) for a few years now in a game that has been going on continuously for four decades, started tabletop and moved online two decades ago. It's set in an alternate Europe where the worlds of Tolkien and Howard existed in ages past. So there is a hint of LOTR and a hint of Conan in it and since it's set in an alt Europe it somehow feels familiar. This is just one example and there are other great campaigns on RPGX. You should take some time to "stroll around" the site and see if anything catches your eye. I hope to see you around on the boards.
