If our arcane caster would like to try such a wall, it'd be wise to stop Jaya from continuing on. She'd probably even try going in the room.

If they have life sight, they wont see through the solid wall, also their perameters would be set to kill anything living that enters the room, well their rooms have just gotten a lot smaller.

Also I am pretty sure that skeletons don't sense lifeforce, maybe ghouls and such, but skeletons are mindless creatures.

Passive dice are just that, passive. 10 +modifier because that is how good your character is at said task on a normal basis without obvious distractions, such as being threatened. Hence taking 10.

Passive checks do not need to be rolled.

Or at least, thats how I have always run it. Now given that the characters are on their toes, me I would probably give a circumstance bonus to perception because they are actively looking for trouble.

Which kind of defeats the purpose of passive checks really, they are in a place where they have never been filled with monsters they aren't walking arround with their heads in the clouds.

What I would do is any time we finish an encounter, have each player secret to you 4-5 perception checks, stealth checks for stealthy types, and if we where using initiative as normal, an initiative check for the next encounter so it is already out of the way.

I had asked about passive checks before, and the explanation given to me was the example of looking for keys.

If you're actively looking, you can look everywhere and not see them, we've all done it. But inevitably, as soon as you give up, you see them sitting on the coffee table. That is passive perception.

Same with stealth, in my eyes, there are naturally quiet walkers, and those that are naturally not quiet. But, as we've all seen in movies ect, that REALLY quiet person that inevitably steps on a twig when trying to be super quiet. Passive vs. Active.

Right, but you forget the rest of that explanation, when actively looking and rolling low, it falls back on passive being 10 +mod, which if that happens to be higher than your active roll, you might find those keys
