My trinket is : An invitation to a party where a murder happened... Was that the 1000 Steel party?

I got a 1 inch cube with each side painted a different color. I will have to think on that one.

Kaylen literally got "Hilt of a broken sword"? That is OP. Can we check Hayar's roller?

Also, 29: An old pair of socks (no additional description), may be the worst trinket known to man.

Yeah it has some nonsense like "William Uth Cedric" carved in it. Until she has a chance to smelt it down, it is just the right shape to unclog privies.

Hello everyone! Sorry I didn't post yesterday...we had cat issues over the weekend, and wound up having to euthanize a cat I've had since he was four weeks old...he was almost 15 years old now.

So I'm Andor and I'll be playing Pnoah (almost went with Gnoah, but decided to go against convention) the Gnomish artificer. I've actually never played a gnome or an artificer, but something about the Dragonlance setting made it feel like the perfect time to try! I read the first nine books, plus a few supplemental works before I just lost track (and, to a certain extent, interest).

On a personal level, I live in northern California (Roseville, if you're familiar with the area) with my wife of ten years (the marriage, not my wife) and dog of three years (the dog, not my wife ). I work for the state in procurement, but I've had a plethora of other jobs beforehand. Originally from Rhode Island, but lived all over the US (no, not an army brat). I began playing D&D with the red set...the one that came with the crayon to color in the dice...when I was nine and have been playing in some form or other ever since. In fact, the name "Andor" comes from the world I built in Second Life where I played Duke Andor Rasmuson of Chanwood (*trumpet sounds*). That's actually where I met my wife, we're one of those "met online" couples.

Other than RPGs, my hobbies include music (used to be a heavy metal singer), motorcycles (Harleys, not racing bikes), and reading. Gah...this is starting to read like a singles ad, so I'll cut it short and just say I'm looking forward to exploring the world and our character building with all of you!

Whats up folks! Begon here. I've been on site here since 2018. I read all the DnD, forgotten realms and Dragonlance stuff when I was 11-14yrs old. I even bought the Forgotten Realms and Menzoberranzan boxed sets but I never actually played DnD until I found RPGXing. I am a teacher in NY about an hour north of the city. I have 3 young boys, 2 dogs, a wife, and no free time!

I just got corraled into coaching my six year olds baseball team and had my first practice today. Holy hell I need my DND free time. I DM a bunch of games, and play in a bunch more. Talia will be a character that moves things along. I try to interact with everyone in a game and I use my characters to bring out the personality of a group. Talia is a Kender... so she will certainly not be a wallflower.

My character's trinket has become an unbending needle! Considering Blyne's backstory, that might have been the most fitting item she could have rolled.

@Begon

Just a heads up, but Talia seems to be missing a feat I think. Basically, everyone gets an extra free feat at 1st level.

I'm sure I'll look at everybody's character sheets eventually, but just to make it a bit easier, who wants to share their character's feat?

Blyne is going to incorporate Tanis' Wise Words and help herself become a bit more of a marvelous face.

With variant human I got two. Went heavy armor master (helped my point buy a bit) and tough.

Tegan certainly sounds like the heavy frontliner that our party needed. If I wouldn't suspect him to keep ending up in the thick of it, I'd have said that Blyne would be looking forward to benefit from his heavily armed protection.

Who else will stand in the front and take blows? Probably Pnoah, and maybe Kaylen, Aric or Xi, right? And maybe Isandril joins the front too once he is able to use his bladesinger dance.

I got Telekinetic for my guy. Appropriately wizardly methinks. Plus, it rounds out his Intelligence nicely, basically gives him an extra cantrip (and a useful one at that, even improving it by making it so that both the casting is without components, thus nigh undetectable, and the effect itself is invisible) and gives a nice telekinetic pull/push bonus action.

Kaylen does seem tanky enough between her Constitution and heavy armor proficiency. Aric I think will mostly be an archer making pincushions out of people and... well... non-people? And Pnoah... he did get some awesome scores which would probably lend themselves well to occasional frontline shenanigans?

As for Isandril, I generally plan to play him as a wizard first and foremost who, unlike most of his peers, also has some melee capabilities to fall back on if or when necessary. Whether he will eventually be a full-on fighter/mage sort of Bladesinger will probably depend on character development.

We seem to have four full casters, with Devari's sorcery probably mystic in nature, Kaylen's divine sorcery, Isandril's High Sorcery, and Blyne's Primal Sorcery suffused with mysticism. It's unfortunate for Blyne that the "other" elf in our future party will be a white robe Silvanesti. She'll probably be extra careful to dodge his judgment and avoid his suspicion.

Either way, it seems then that at least Isandril and Blyne will probably embrace the backline. Talia and Devari are probably rather flexible and move between midrange and skirmisher, while Aric as an archer might try to levy his range capabilities to his advantage. That also might suit his personality as I've understood.

Something I might want to point attention to is that out of the gate Blyne will not be very combat-focused. She'll probably need to feel like fighting becomes a regular aspect of her life and then I'll pick up more combat abilities as we level. Just as a fair warning, Blyne will be a bit resistant to being hooked into battle at first level. I'll do my best to find her reasons to not leave anybody hanging, but there will be a distinct reluctance stemming from her personality that I'll have to overcome depending on the situation. Obviously I don't know yet how exactly the narrative hooks will come together and what exactly awaits our characters in Khur, but if I'm slow to involve her in bloody battles before she feels responsibile and ready to face the backlash I'm hoping you'll understand.

But generally Blyne is both strong-willed and a mover, ready to use her magic to get the job done. She also feels like she has and to others, though she would be loath to admit that to herself something to prove to herself and has a strong motivation to follow the original adventure hook. She also believes that making herself useful to others will result in reciprocation and even if she'll probably be a bit more distant at first she's been playing with the idea of working together with others for a while now. So ultimately I think there won't be any issues in the long run.

Sounds like a plan. And no worries about playing your character the way you have envisioned her. After all, half of the fun is have the characters develop and change due to their experiences and interactions with others, right? After all, it is not like Isandril will be the warmest of individuals. Composed, yes. Well-mannered, sure. Nice and warm and cuddly though? He may be pretty, but that 10 Charisma has to amount to something...Eh, not necessarily.

By the way, how are the various names pronounced?

For my guy, it is something like ee-SAND-reel, if it makes any sense. If too difficult for the non-elves around, I suppose they could call him Sand. Much to his "mild" annoyance.

Yes, I share this view as well.

Incidentally, although Blyne doesn't know this yet, Isandril's personality might be particularly prone to being disfavourable for Blyne. If he still has a bit of that Silvanosti supremacism then he might favour her company over that of the others. She wouldn't have an issue with him being stiff or cold, that might even be preferred, but as a white robe he might have the insight to understand that a good part of her sorcery is primal, which is as I've understood frowned upon by wizards. And it's also a clue that she's not actually an elf, so that might lead to interesting interactions down the line. Blyne will probably feel challenged to be both secretive whilst also not being suspicious about it. I think Isandril will be who she will worry most might see through her fake persona. Devari and Talia would share that seat if Blyne knew that Devari could recognize a liar and impostor from her own nature and if Blyne knew not to underestimate Talia.

Besides, even with Blyne's 20 Charisma I don't imagine her as a particularly warm person. She'll largely rely on being serene and well-spoken (as well as her beauty) to carry her charismatic duties. Though she's also likely to avoid being dislikable, which might sometimes clash with how she truly feels.

For Blyne it's just like "brine" with an L. Though at first she's most likely to make herself known as Blainneth and only offer up Blyne as a "nickname" once she's stuck around a bit.

Primal Sorcery (or Wild Sorcery or just... well... sorcery) is probably not the Wizards of High Sorcery's favorite thing, yeah (also, so many times the word "sorcery"... sheesh...). But, unless I am mistaken or misremember, sorcerers are not considered renegades like in the olden days, but rather outside the purview of the Orders.

As for Isandril specifically, he did dabble in it while the Moons and the Gods were gone, but found it... unrefined of sorts. Plus, having read about its use during the last battle of the Second Dragon War and the devastation it wrought in a book (the same book of lore he is carrying around with him, by the way)... eh, it did not help to change his opinion. Still, his twin sister did actually delve a bit more into sorcery than he did (she was the fun one and the one with the high Charisma ), which in turn played a part in her using a certain magical item to save him from the wasting sickness at the expense of her own life. So... let us call him a bit conflicted on the matter.

As for his Silvanesti supremacy, he does retain quite a bit of the arrogance his people are known for, but he is -or tries to be- more open-minded. The fact that he blames that very same arrogance and stubbornness for much of his suffering helps.
