Sounds good to me, the latter more than the former (that is, Kaylen helping the group of Silvanesti elves Isandril was with at the time to get to Khur). Having met during Isandril's relocation to Khur makes for a nice connection, the two of them being already acquainted with each other without necessarily being actual friends or knowing each other's past. So, they would still get to really know each other during the game, on-screen rather than off-screen if you will.

Additionally, with Kaylen having helped the mage prior to the start of the adventure, this gives him one more reason, and a plausible one at that, to throw his lot with the group. Sort of helping someone who helped him in the recent past and repaying what he sees as a sort of debt at the same time.

I'm playing catchup (damn this thread moves quick) but this line jumped out at me. I don't want to make too much of a pre-game relationship with anyone just yet for a couple reasons. One, when I last left Aric he was on a ship headed across an unfamiliar sea to an unfamiliar city to give a note to an unfamiliar person. Although he's a curious boy, his guard is way up. At best, he'll be friendly and say hello, and if asked he'll say he's going to visit a distant relative, but I plan on treating him as though he has tunnel vision for just the task he needs to complete, so don't take it personally if he doesn't immediately form a bond right away.

The second is a player reason - I like the idea of keeping the meetings organic and discovering everyone's quirks and stuff as the story progresses, not so much before. vv Maybe I'm weird, who knows.

Kaylen would immediately latch herself onto a boy who seems, from appearances, to need her help and protection. He will definitely be pulling on her heart strings and reminding her of her boy, Rolis, so if he has been in Khur for a while that is definitely an in.

Nah no need for a private thread, I think at first blush Aric's first impression of Tegan would be a big muscular man like his father - and therefore a bit of an intimidating presence. He doesn't plan to intentionally reveal his plans to anyone, but I like the idea of him saying to Tegan something like, "Oh me? I'm just going to visit my uncle for a while," then inadvertently going to speak to the same Knight that Tegan might theoretically be going to see. Oh man I can just imagine how embarrassed he'd be at being caught out in a lie.

I am okay with Tegan being introduced in the main thread. It sounds like that is the overall preference. I am totally okay with that.
