I'm willing to take one for the team and swap out Investigator for something else. Honestly I was much more hype about the Occultist part anyway, and I can think of about five different classes that would fit my background just as easily as Investigator does. |

I'll post interest too. Thinking Occultist // Arcanist? Still haven't decided on the 2nd track.
Since people are asking for 3.5 stuff is Feycraft (DMG II, p 274) allowed? Effortless Lace doesn't work with what I'm trying to do. Edit: Just trying to finesse a 1h bludgeoning weapon. Last edited by Hellfire014; Jun 26th, 2024 at 12:54 PM. |

Excellent, one anti-magic Alchemist/Rogue coming right up!
Ectoplasmic Toxicant Alchemist / Underground Chemist Rake Rogue, so hopefully I'll be quite different to triedtherest's character, despite having the same core classes |

Yes, I'm building a Phantom Thief on the Rogue side, Mindchemist and Internal Alchemist on the other.
I know that Internal Alchemist's Uncanny Dodge would not give any greater benefits that Improved Uncanny Dodge from Rogue already gives, but I thought that the subclasses emphasis on Disease seemed appropriate for my character. |

There's an abandoned resource out there that nobody sells anymore that's pretty easy to find, darn shame because I'd love to own a physical copy, it's called "Casting Call: Heroes of Legend". There's a treasure trove of background ideas in there to inspire a very wide array of characters.

I have it, actually. And the two other Casting Call books I know of (for modern and future games). My only problem is how judgmental/bigoted the authors were. I might open that up and roll some dice, though. Maybe.

Would you classify a swig of hard liquor (whiskey, vodka, etc) as the equivalent alcoholic content to a tankard of ale for the purposes of Drunken Brute archetype for Barbarian?

Name: Yudick Brewhead "The Beast of North Shore"
Race: Dwarf Classes: Side I/Side II Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 8/ Vigilante Brute 8 Appearance: He is also never found without a drink nearby or preferably several. Most dwarves drink, but he has managed to turn it into a sport, a life style, and a passion all at once. He seems to be imbibing constantly from the minute he wakes up to the minute he goes back to bed. Very rarely however is he seen without his facilities. Whether that is because he is sure to pace himself or simply a iron constitution, he just smiles and takes another sip. Personality: Yudick is a happy man. Gregarious is how most people with an education describe him. Those without simply say he is neighborly. He always seems to be smiling and loving life but is happiest mixing his brews and concoctions and when he gets to work around his still and fermenters a rumbling dwarven song is always heard. He always seems to find a left over loaf of bread or a spare dinner when one of the cities destitute come knocking on his back door. That being said, it seems like he has a deep contempt for elves or at least it is his favorite curse. Whenever he is displeased with something he always calls it Elven Foolery or Elven Flippery. Of course no one can ever recall him refusing service to anyone, elf heritage or not. He simply shrugs when someone inquires before going back to serving. Background: Yudick came to the city nearly 100 years ago just after it found its freedom and it status turned from colony to independent city. He was a young dwarf with almost 40 years in his belt and a haunted look. He had joined the City Guard of Janderhoff when he was barely 20 years old, lying to them about his age so he could serve, and spent 15 years patrolling the deepest reaches of the city to protect against the Darklands and the threats it holds. What he saw, he never shared but it left him broken. He left his city behind seeking to find peace in his life and eventually wandered into the city of Korvosa settling in the old quarter. He knew the fundamentals of brewing from his parents and he quickly apprenticed with a master brewer in the city. He grew his craft over the years before opening his own shop The Stumbling Griffon and was known for his exotic brews and strong liquors. Nothing was ever made weak and serving up a plain ale or drink wasn't something he had done in nearly 7 decades. Everything was crafted and made with exacting standards and if it failed to meet them, he would rather pour it down the drain instead of selling or serving it. He survived the purges, the plagues, and everything else that has been thrown at the city. He is looking to hang in through the current crisis and see what comes next to this cursed city. He has found love over the years several times, but it never seemed to work out. He watched too many human grow old in his long tenancy that he didn't wish for one with the shorter lived races and he never did find the right dwarven woman to look over his shoulder. His shop has had a variety of chefs serving things up over the years and they have always had to meet the same exacting standards for serving food as he took in his drink. His current chef is a halfling name Kordrak Quickfinger who for a long time had been a punk kid running around pick pocketing and getting in trouble with the local guard until Yudick smacked his behind raw for daring to try and case his joint. Forcing him to come back the next day, he gave him breakfast and put him up as an apprentice of his cook. Eventually, he took over the business of cooking and is now Yudick's most trusted assistant. Relationships: Valdur Bromathan IV- Another noble, Yudrick is trying to make business inroads with the man. Given his own past, he feels sympathy for the man who broke with his familial tradition but is glad to see it getting better. Marnay Zyrvana- A fellow dwarf and a giant hunter at that, Yudrick has great respect for her and the group. He always invites them to the tavern for a visit whenever they are in town. Of course he has a crush on the cousins but will deny it to his death with them being so much younger than him. Every dwarven new year he makes sure to send them a barrel of special brewed dwarven whiskey to celebrate. Lolia Perenne- A woman in charge of trade, Yudrick makes sure always ensure her visits go quickly and smoothly. As the woman who can shut down his business with little more than a letter or a word to the guards, he always is quick to report anything suspicious in case she gets the wrong idea. Thaviun Rigulus- A local leader of the brewers and tavern owners, Yudrick has helped supply the man's cellar for years. He has a great respect for the prestige that Thavun has managed to collect for himself and the success of his tavern. Of course Yudrick likes to brag that it is special brews that have brought a lot of the word of mouth to the tavern and boost his own business fortunes. The two have had a close friendship for years but both of them running shops and business means that they rarely get a chance to chew the fat outside of the monthly merchant meetings. Ausio Carowyn- One of Yudrick's favorite customers. He often brews up sweet bubbly drinks for his wife, Olauren, and has catered and provided drinks for several feasts and gatherings that he has hosted. Yudrick likes the man but worries that he constantly seems to be under more stress than he can manage.

Yeah I am still. Don't plan on leaving until the interwebs fail and the robots rise up which with all of this AI GPT stuff may be sooner than I had hoped. How have things been?
