Welp, here I go. If there's anything I've overlooked, let me know. Sorry about the lack of a picture, I always have a hard time finding those. I'll have his character sheet up by tomorrow!

Basic Information Name: “Big” Benjamin Cassur Race: Human Class: Artificer, Armorer or Battle Smith, or whatever spec is needed Age: 21 Background: Apprentice Blacksmith Turned Artificer (Guild Artisan basically) Appearance: A small, scrawny, grungy, example of his kind (that’s why they call him ‘Big’!), Ben is neither particularly imposing or particularly well-groomed with his curly black hair is often wild and unkempt, his forge-darkened skin, his bright green eyes bordered by prematurely born worry lines from looking perpetually concerned, his clothes and seemingly omnipresent leather work apron almost always stained with soot and other, stranger substances, and his hands seemingly permanently discolored from his work. Still, during those rare times when his smiles, he can almost look charming. …Almost. Personality Traits: “If someone is in trouble, I'm always willing to lend help” Since he was old enough to handle a tool, Ben’s always been ready to help both the caretaker and his fellow orphans, usually via building, mending, or repairing things. This hasn’t changed as he’s grown older; if someone’s in trouble he’ll be the first to offer a hand, magically-powered or otherwise. “I'm always picking things up, absently fiddling with them, and sometimes accidentally breaking them.” Ben has a hard time sitting still…and a harder time leaving things alone. He’ll often fiddle with whatever little objects happen to be sitting near him; decorations, paperweights, small gadgets, almost unconsciously disassembling them to fiddle with their insides. This has led to more than a few sheepish apologies over a now-leaking fountain pen or a broken water clock, among other incidents… Ideal: “Generosity. My talents were given to me so that I can benefit others.” Ben has a lot of goals, both short term and long. But at the end of the day if he can say that he made the world, or at least the lives of his friends and loved ones, a little bit better, he’ll be satisfied. Broken pens included. Bond: "Nothing is more important than the other members of my family. He grew up alongside them, helped raise some of them, even fought and argued with a few of them. His fellow foundlings are his family, for good or for ill, and there's precious little Ben won't do to safeguard their lives and happiness. Flaw: “I speak without really thinking through my words, invariably insulting others.” Ben is a fairly earnest and well-meaning fellow. He’s also headstrong and, well, blunt…infamously blunt.. He’s yet to meet a social situation he couldn’t cluelessly trample over like an enraged bull. Character Sheet

Backstory Parents? Blood relatives? Kin? Those are for other people. The only thing Ben’s gotten from whoever birthed him was the name that was on his bassinet when he’d been brought to the Light Of Day orphanage as a mere infant. Growing up Ben was never that interested in his past anyways. He was far more interested in the world around him. Curious and precocious, as a child Ben was something of a terror for the poor caretaker, heedlessly taking things apart to see how they work. As he grew older, however, he began tempering said curiosity with responsibility, helping upkeep and repair the old building they all grew up in, taking odd jobs to help bring money in, and oftentimes acting as a ‘big brother’ to the younger foundlings. When the old caretaker passed and they all stood at the crossroads of where to go from there, Ben had been…reluctant to split up, not just out of wariness of the unknown, but concerned with how everyone would handle the wider world without each other, having seen glimpses of it himself. Still, the decision was made and he’d not fight it. Ben was on his own. Now, one year later after they’d all gone their separate ways, Ben has acquired a strange set of tools and an even stranger set of skills. The result of a blacksmith apprenticeship that went to some…interesting places.

Application Name: Aranea Kendrick Race: Variant Human Class: Rogue 1 / Warlock 1 (Hexblade) Age: 20 Background: Investigator Traits: I have morbid interests and a macabre aesthetic. A signature piece of clothing or distinct weapon serves as an emblem of who I am. Ideal: Escape. I believe there is something beyond the world I know, and I need to find it. Bond: I use my cunning mind to solve mysteries and find justice for those who've been wronged. Flaw: I believe doom follows me and that anyone who gets close to me will face a tragic end. Backstory: Aranea came to the Light of Day orphanage as a 5-year-old, much older than most. She was old enough to miss her parents, who gave her up because they couldn't afford to feed all of their children. As the quietest and the strangest of their children, her parents didn't take long to choose which one of their children to give up to the orphanage. Even at such a young age, Aranea understood what had happened to her and knew that she was unwanted. Slowly, through many years, the young girl was able to grow close to her fellow orphans, and they remain the only people she trusts, save for the caretaker, who is now dead. Aranea spent the year away from the orphanage following her natural curiosity and this led to her becoming hired on as an investigator by the Waterdhavian city guard. Though never a guard herself, she was nevertheless an invaluable resource to the city, putting her keen mind and attention to detail to good use in solving missing persons cases, domestic disputes, and even murders. Unknown to all, however, Aranea's talents weren't solely inherent to her but partially the result of a pact she had formed with an entity known as the Raven Queen. Taking pity on the young and isolated Aranea, the Raven Queen promised great power if Aranea agreed to serve her. Such service aligned well with Aranea's chosen profession as an investigator, as she was able to pass on small trinkets and collect memories from the places she investigated, which pleased the Raven Queen.

Idk if it factors into how you may view my character but if Vera were to end up with a subclass for the Bard it would be College of Swords so she is kind of a melee bard even if she does sing shanties and play an instrument. Just thought you should know as the DM. (While I know it's only up to Lvl 5 if it wasn't and both subclasses we're obtainable the Rogue subclass is Swashbuckler.)

Some notes regarding his equipment, which I hope you don't mind:

• He starts with traveler's clothes due to his background. I replaced these with common clothes because he doesn't do a lot of traveling.
• He starts with two handaxes and two martial weapons. I replaced the handaxes with daggers (flavoured as kitchen knifes) and one martial weapon with a mace, a simple weapon (flavoured as a cast-iron frying pan).

Please let me know if you consider any of substitutions inappropriate!

Application Name: Callie Tealeaf Class: Rogue (2) Race: Lightfoot halfling Appearance: Standing just a crack above the 3-foot average height for halflings, Callie takes pride in dressing well and looking put-together. Her lopsided grin looks almost like a smirk and her eyes shine with amusement and mischief. 5e background: Mostly on RPGX, where I've been playing for several years now. Traits (2): I ask a lot of questions. I also hide scraps of food and trinkets away in my pockets. Ideal: Respect. All people, rich or poor, deserve respect and kindness. Bond: I try to help people in similar or worse situations than mine to keep others from enduring what I was forced to endure. Flaw: It's not stealing if I need it more than someone else. Backstory: Callie's roots are about as humble as any in Waterdeep, raised in the "Light of Day" orphanage with no real memory of her parents. When she, along with her "graduating class", were eventually tossed out onto the streets, she found there was little opportunity for honest work for someone of her stature, both physically and socially. So, unlike many of her fellow urchins, rather than branch out into more honest work, she embraced the skills they'd all managed to develop and slid completely into the criminal world. Still, she wasn't a bad person...quite the opposite. Due to her size and quickness, she'd always exceled at sneaking treats from the orphanage, and enjoyed sharing them with the others, particularly the younger ones (who were usually still bigger). Her habit of providing for others with ill-gotten gains didn't diminish when she was struggling for survival; in fact, it increased. Perhaps it was to decrease the guilt of stealing from others, or perhaps it was a desire to ingratiate herself with others for protection. Or maybe it was just a keen awareness and understanding of how it was to be disadvantaged and alone. She's also realized that you can get what you want without directly sneaking in and taking it. There are plenty of those who are perfectly willing to give things, especially if they're thinking of how it might benefit themselves. Flash a pretty smile to a leering merchant, fast-talk a schemer who thinks he's taking a sucker for a ride, convince a noble that they can profit and gain status from a clever "investment"...quickness of wit and charm is sometimes more valuable than quickness of motion. A clever tongue can often score bigger than clever fingers. She's no stranger to confrontation, though she prefers to avoid trouble or talk her way out of situations. She's small and fast, a hard target to hit, and learned how to use her quickness to compensate for her lack of physical strength. More than one brute who wouldn't listen to reason has wound up laying bleeding in a dirty alley, wondering how they just got their backside handed to them by a little girl half their size. She's got her fingers on the pulse of the city and Waterdeep is her oyster. And if she can't talk the oyster into handing over it's pearl, she'll just slip it out without the oyster ever realizing it. Relationships: Despite her diminutive size, she tends to take on a "big sister" role for others, especially if they're even smaller or close to the same size. Very strong protective instincts. Her moral code is wrapped up in her relationships; she would never harm or steal from someone she considered family, but she would absolutely steal from strangers to provide for herself or her pack. She is reluctant to steal from those in need, strangers or otherwise; she prefers to target those who can afford to "share" a little. Character Mechanical Background: Urchin
