On a more pertinent note, thank you to all the applicants for both your interest and your indulgence in my format. Reputations (good ones) precede some of you, and I look forward to getting to interact with people I haven't had the opportunity to play with as well. As much as I'd prefer to proceed to make choices from the current list, I've come to accept that reasonable patience is a key trait in play-by-post, and I'll definitely be giving this the remaining 101 hours. That said, I'll start actively reading and taking notes on applicants tomorrow while I'm stuck at home with my kids. I'd like to be able to announce selections late Monday night and get to the business of party backstory, character thoughts, and the rest of Session Zero. Again, my deepest gratitude to all of you. As the RPXP limits permit, I'll be leaving RPXP hits as I look over what you've provided

No, this is football talk.
If you want to talk about Baseball, we can talk about the Cowboy's last minute play calling and decisions. I'm not sure they were baseball, but they sure as heck weren't football, so there's a chance they make sense under baseball rules.

The Cowboys were just following in the Raven's footsteps, and throwing away the game in the last 2 minutes. It's worked out great for the Ravens, they went from a clear leader in their bracket to getting more rest and relaxation this season. No one wants to actually be outside playing in the winter.

I do have one question that might actually hurt my chances at being chosen, but I think it's worth asking.

For transparency's sake, this will be responded to via private message. I appreciate thoroughness from potential players, and I will find appropriate ways to answer questions as needed.

Player Name: Sic Transit. Pronouns are they/them for me, and whatever's appropriate to each character for that character.
Relative PbP Experience: Let's say six months to a year ... a decade ago. Also, before that, quite a bit of what was essentially PBEM involving some national-scale plotlines as part of the World of Darkness organized play Camarilla. Favorite Pathfinder Class: Occultist. I like the flavor. I like that it's a weird, fiddly thing you can spin into probably a dozen dramatically different characters via feature choices and archetypes. I like that it's unloved enough that no one else ever seems to know what it's up to... and that really fits the class themes to boot. Oracle is probably in second place. Favorite Class Archetype: That's tough! Do I pick an Occultist option? Something else I've found mechanically enjoyable, like Sanctified Slayer (Inquisitor) or Bladebound (Magus)? Something novel and character-driven like Animist (Shaman)? In the end, I'm going to go with two choices here. Gloomblade (Fighter) is a huge deviation from what people expect of the class, and let's you do all sorts of weapon-swapping problem solving for more than just overcoming DR (although I'll fairly admit my one Gloomblade build turned out to be comically overpowered and so won't ever return). And Empiricist (Investigator), because it's a helpful engine for making novel progressions, a strength of the system, and is the sort of odd set of flavor and powers that is emblematic of Pathfinder, but also ties class mechanics to story and personality. Your Favorite Aspect of TTRPGing: Variety. I'm no stranger to PF, although the games I've run have mostly still been 3.5. In both systems, I love the weird mechanics challenge of assembling a build. But then I love breathing life into that sheet as a person, with flaws and goals and desires and intrigues. Tropes: Many of my characters are devout, if sometimes heterodox, worshippers of... well, less popular deities. I love exploring why someone might choose to devote themselves to unloved or even unlovable powers, including more than a few LN or CN followers of evil gods. More broadly, I'm a big fan of "Seeker of the Lost" style characters, even if they never find what motivated them. Journey, not the destination, after all. One Awesome Moment: So, in this long Eberron game, I played a gnoll from the monster nation of Droam. As created, his original goal was to find a way to free the rest of his kind from the shackles of demonic servitude to Yeenoghu, but adventuring sort of took over his spirit. Our party captured a couple of rather nice ships at one point, and left them drydocked for repairs. In an entirely unrelated adventure, my gnoll spared the life of a sect of thugs because they'd been led astray by a (different) demon and he saw a lot of himself in them. And so... years later in the game, we prepare to deal with the Big Bad and his army in Xen'drik. And that's why, after calling in the favors owed him, my gnoll ended up captaining a pirate fleet, standing on the foredeck, fighting off drow and summoned monsters with a stolen elven sword, cackling madly in the wind as the cannons fired around him. Because fortune favors the bold, be survived that battle and the whole campaign. While his comrades retired to their various luxuries, the Cackling Captain returned to the sea. I'd like to imagine he sails it still. House Rules: Everything here makes sense to me. I appreciate the background skills especially; that's often a weak point in the character side of PF character sheets. Sample Posts: Nary a one to behold! Norgorber knows where I last Played by Post, and I don't have access to any of the stuff from my time in the Camarilla. I've been accepted to one game here, but no posts as I'm awaiting the party's return to town to hop into the plot. Perhaps that seals my fate; perhaps not. Declaration: I, Sic Transit, being of sound body and probably unsound mind but nevertheless capable of working a keyboard or other form of text input device, do hereby indicate my sincere intention to make myself available to post a couple times per week for at least a few months. If I have planned events that will cause absences, I will do my best to communicate them in advance. I will not wait until I have a Post of the Month candidate in my head before composing, especially since I don't have any illusions that I write at quite that level, but will make average-quality posts if they are called for. I will not open spoilerbuttons with listed Difficulty Classes without first publicly rolling an appropriate check. Finally, I will make an effort to consider giving RPXP to exemplary posts in order to encourage my fellow players. Lines and Veils: Honestly, I think I'm fine with any PG-13 content. There are certainly actions and attitudes that will make me very much dislike some situations and characters, but that's also fine. There are supposed to be. |

We have 48 hours remaining. Everybody's currently at a completed status, but further applications are welcome up until the deadline. I will be attempting to make selections in the hours after the deadline and make an announcement then.

I had submitted here, but it seems to have been missed. You do have quite a number of applicants, so no worries.

Thanks for the warning. I had missed you on the table in the thread, but I have definitely looked at the application and taken my notes toward selection, and your name was absolutely in that document. I've updated the table to reflect your application.
I started handing out RPXP for applications tonight, and I'm going to continue to do so for the next few nights as the cycle permits. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the intrusion you all allowed.

I do dearly miss that game. It was unfortunate that I had to take that ill-timed break from the site. I'm glad to see it's still going, though! I'll add you to the table and make sure to schedule a look at your application between tomorrow's festivities. Good to see you again!
