Girgadan
left-aligned image

Surprised at the sudden quiet Girgadan takes stock of the situation. After being focused on the fighting so much - because nothing gets the blood pounding like a good fight - its times to figure out who I am with before stepping through another magic door.

Well met! There's nothing like a shared fight with no knifes in the back to start a friendship on. My name is Girgadan and its been surprising and fun to fight with you. I must admit I have never battled in boat before and have no wish to continue and repeat it - too much rocking, interferes with axe swinging

He looks at each person, makes eye contact and nods. Takes a second glance at the Harpy Teema if I heard the magic acrobat correctly. Awesome scream and so effective on fish could be a business opportunity there as I know some retired veterans that like nothing better than fishing

Seeing that the Monk seems to be up, and in better shape than himself the Barbarian gives the shark a dismissive kick away from the boat Someone else can deal with the sleeping fishman and steps over to the chest Well I wasn't expecting to get paid and by a door at that. Putting on the dapper outfit that had to be his purely based on the colour choice, the Half-Orc turns and says Well look at this for a new tale "Beauty is the Beast" - HAHHAHHAA

Looks like this door is the best choice in town... unless you really want to ride a sinking boat towed by an angry Shark

Moving his axe over to his shield arm he gives a small bow (grunts from the injury) and offers his hand to anyone that needs a hand stepping over

I hope this next door has a bed and food, preferably not fish

Teema
right-aligned image

Although her own maneuver had ended with fairly little success, flying into a flanking position and trying to bite the tangy fishman opened an opportunity for Hex to magically murder the frenzied assailant. The dead body fell into the sea where it sunk and left behind a tantalizingly red cloud that was quickly disturbed by the ocean's waves. Entirely out of breath, Teema fluttered away from the boat immediately after she wasn't in range of someone who'd poke her anymore, but this time she stayed well within earshot of these Westhaven adventurers. The little blood harpy was panting from both the excitement and exertion of her very first battle, and her wide, lucent eyes scanned the men on the boat who were all turning around once a small platform surfaced from beneath the waves. It was so obviously magical that Teema's mouth simply stayed open to reveal her sharpened teeth for a little longer as she blinked at the emerging table, chest, and closed doorway. And that's when it clicked. That's just like the door in the inn! And I got here just after I passed through that!

Putting two and two together Teema flew in parallel to the boat and although her eyes kept getting drawn to the wounded human and all the blood that he had left on the boat before she had healed him, eventually she was ripped out of her giddy thoughts by Hex who addressed her familiarly, declaring that now they were friends. Although a lot of different impressions were fighting for the harpy's attention right then she circled the boat to get closer to Hex, her look of astonishment giving way to a smile that was timider than she usually was. Teema never really got shy around strangers, but today was a fairly special situation that had been sprung on her very unexpectedly. "You're Hex? I could hear you in my head!" The avian woman kept beating her wings, starting to babble with excitement as she completely missed to answer the telepath's question about her origins. "Why are we here?! Was it because of the door? Why did they attack us?!!" Again her gaze darted to all the spoils of blood that had splattered over the wet wood of the boat and she had to blink to refocus on Hex. "Are you adventurers?? You did so much magic!! And I did magic!! Oh, they were so~ stinky!"

It took a while for Teema to calm down, about as long as it took for the adventurers to drive their sinking vessel next to the magic platform. Although the birdwoman's arms weren't tired quite yet she quickly landed right on the edge, demonstrating once more how height-challenged she was in comparison to these tall men. She wasn't intimidated anymore, that kind of size difference was quite normal after all and they were on her side. While the chest on the table was also tickling Teema's curiosity, these new companions were still taking up all of her imagination and so she finally answered Hex's question once he had reasked it. Her high voice was chipper although now she had to look quite a bit up at him. "I've been to Westhaven for a while now. Hmm... Months!" Her voice rose as she seemed to enjoy talking about herself. "I'm a harpy!! I'm rare in human cities! There are like no other like me, wherever I go!"

Teema was still talking as the other men boarded the platform and her eyes kept getting drawn over to the human whom she had healed before. It didn't interrupt her self-staging though and when Girgadan introduced himself and complimented her she bounced a few inches closer to him, her talons making little scratching noises on the magical surface of the platform. "You like my scream??! I don't usually do that, but I can do it more if you want to??" The eager smile on the white-feathered female's face suggested that she'd happily shriek some more to earn more praises. "Or I could sing! They all looove when I sing! I don't know if I want to sing for old men and old fish though..." Teema crinkled her small nose a little as if the idea sounded really too boring. Again her eyes darted over to the brawler of the group, and once he got to the chest after someone had opened it, the harpy was right on queue as if she had waited for it and she flew over to land on the table where leaned forward until she was at eye level with the man she had saved. "So yes, I'm Teema." She smiled widely, but not enough to show her serrated teeth, almost as if she had practiced smiling without revealing them. "What's your name?" Her lucent eyes were intently on the man soon to reveal himself as Percy, but then she snapped back and craned her neck to look at everybody in the group who hadn't introduced themselves to her yet.

With everybody in the party named and squared away, Teema finally regarded the quirky magic chest that one of the adventurers had opened for her, and while they pulled out some clothes which immediately put a disappointed frown onto the petite harpy's face, she was just about to loudly complain to the men when the last item pulled from the trove was a leather corset similar in promiscuity compared to what she was already wearing, just that it was adorned with magnificent stitchings made from threads of gold as well as embedded with jewels that sparkled in many colours once the light caught in them. It was far too small and entirely inappropriate to wear for the men of the group and even on the petite avian it was still fairly scandalous, but Teema immediately perked up and forgot about any misgiving that she might have had about the treasure reward from this magic room, as wild as that explanation still sounded to her. "Wow! Are you seeing this?! So sparkly~!" The blood harpy held it up to herself and chuckled to herself as it really complemented the colour scheme of her feathers beautifully. "Are you all changing?? Well, you can't look when I do!" A mischievous grin adorned her pretty face as she snatched the gold reward that someone else had counted out for her and she flew up onto the doorway as she tried to tease the men from up above. "You. Can't. Look. You're men! Hi hi hi!" And after playfully sticking out her tongue at them, the snickering harpy waited on her perch until the party had passed through the door before she put on the new, even more ostentatious outfit. Then she excitedly proceed through the door like the others had before her.

As quickly as the battle had started around the tiny boat, the splashing of water settled quickly with the rhythmic lapping of the ocean waves on the side of the wooden vessel calmed everyone’s nerves. The ranger didn’t hesitate to throw the unconscious fishman over the side as a platform emerged from the waves revealing the exit.

“Glad you’re back with the living Percy. After that first room I wasn’t expecting such a sudden change in the setting,” patting the monk on the shoulder before assisting in moving the boat towards the platform. He gave the harpy a friendly wave as she neared the boat, reminding himself to introduce himself.

“I second that idea Girgadan. This boat doesn’t do my any good either for fighting for the same reasons. I’m Galen by the way, ranger of Westhaven, lived there most of my life. I love meeting the new arrivals to the city, always fascinating stories and personalities.”

“Pleased to meet to Teema, you’re scream was most effective on those Sahuagin. I’ve never met or seen harpy yet in Westhaven so I do believe you are the first.”

Once safely on the platform Galen opened the chest expectantly. Much like the first the room there was coin to be divided and instead of a potion, several sets of new clothes. It was quite obvious which set belonged to whom. Some how The Door knew what each of them would like. Galen handed out the new formal clothes to everyone; Hex, Giradan, his own, Percy and Teema.

“It is quite sparkly. It is definitely meant for you as I don’t think any of us would fit,”
the ranger chuckled as the little harpy admired her new corset.

Looking over his own new clothes it looked like the elf was getting a new dark green tunic and matching velvet Jerkin along with a copper colored Shoulder cape with gold tasseled fastening. He nodded approvingly at the new clothes.
“Yes I think changing is required for whatever else this place has planned. I don’t think bloody adventuring gear is going to be suitable.”

OOC
I designed this room/door to be a social/investigation encounter, where the PCs will use various ability checks to solve the room. Each Round will be about 1-5 min.

A few things about Ability checks:
  • Please be specific about what action the PC is taking - e.g., scanning the crowd for an attractive person
  • Tell me what the character is doing, but don't roll; I will roll secretly.
  • Generally, one character can attempt something (e.g., Persuade the MajorDomo) with a second character helping.
  • Per Turn/Round, I'll allow one passive (e.g., Perception, Investigation, Insight) and one active (e.g., Persuasion, Performance, Helping) for each character.
  • I'll be running a simplified reaction/impression/scale from 1:Active Dislike to 3:Neutral to 5:Friendly. I'll do it for the entire party to keep things simple. So, if one character does something good or bad, it will influence the whole party's standing.
  • Mindsiege/Temma - for this Door/Scene, I'm going to allow Bardic Inspiration to be recovered on a short rest.

The RP:
  • I assume that each character is dressed in the fine clothes provided in the last room. Briefly describe your character.
  • The opening turn is a chance for characters to influence guests.

Take me to the Ball
right-aligned image

Once again, the party stepped through the door to an unknown fate. As they stepped through a small voice whispered in their ear "Find the key to escape the party." and then with a little giggle, "And remember a key is not always made of metal, or even physical.

This time, it was quite the spectacle that assaulted their senses - a lavish ballroom full of guests. An orchestra was playing as they entered the room. The crowd was an eclectic mix of races and creatures - many hailed from the Fae Wild - Fairies, Eladrin, Pixies, Satyr, but mixed in with them were various races from the mortal plane - Dwarf, Human, Orc, Tielfling. Additionally, dress and costume were as varied as the races - from the finery of Nobility to rags and even in a number of cases no clothing at all.

The ballroom was lavishly appointed. Tables ran around the edge of the ballroom - some laden with food and drink, while others were set for socializing.

A well-dressed man stood just to the right of the door holding an ornate staff. The man rapped the staff on the floor three times, and the music halted. He called out loudly, "Guests from another Dimension for the Neverending Party." and then in a low tone, "Introduce yourselves and remember there is no second chance to make a first impression."

Girgadan

Damn it - I much prefer expressing myself with an Axe. Such a sharp honesty to it whereas this place looks like a trap, every utterance a risk to your soul

The Dapper dressed Half-Orc takes a quick glance around the room looking for his main target (food and drink) whilst pondering what to say. He takes a quick breath, puffs his chest out a little, straightens his back and says...

"Girgadan of Westmarch. A honourably retired soldier now enjoying life as a traveller looking for adventure and fine companions. Looking around it seems I have come to the best of the known and unknown places to find both. Thank you for having me."

Having done his best to go through his mum's checklist
- use your name
- dont scratch, especially your nose or bum
- make sure you have pants on, especially if you have to scratch
- survival is key so know where to get fed and watered
- careful with lies its like handing your foe a dagger
- never show fear
- dont axe anyone (unless it interferes with the above)

There was lots more that was forgotten but enough has been covered and so Girgadan took a little step to the side and hoped his new companions would shine enough to cover up for his lack of graces.

Whilst the rest of the group introduces themselves the Barbarian looks around trying to determine if there are any noticeable groups, like blobs of folks that seem to move together. Like a troop that sticks together even though they are part of a larger battle group. The weapons are different but knowledge and tactics still matter.

Hex
right-aligned image
(Click for Sheet) @James Zapata

Hex nodded to the orc when he said he didn't like fighting in a boat. "Agreed! Hex, at your service," the half-drow said with a bow and flourish, made all the more smoother with the fine clothing he now wore. The shoulder pads on his studded leather were still prominent under the silver embroidery stitched on his new suit coat, but the twin tail that dropped down to cover his backside and stiff high color gave him the sheen of nobility.

Unfortunately, Hex's hair was as wild as it ever had been. Worse, his fine clothes did nothing to hide the scars decorating his face and neck, which marred the overall impression. This, he enhanced with a little glamour magic he had picked up from long ago, by making his clothing seem to sparkle in the light.

"Yes, magic is indeed a heavy interest of mine, you could say... Which makes this Door very, very intriguing. Every time it opens, we get transported to a different place? What a marvel!"

The sorcerer then glanced up as Teema teased the group. He grinned as he messaged her mentally. "Well, who would've thought? A shy harpy!"

Soon it was time to open the door, and though Hex expected something of a social gathering based on the clothes left out for them, the grandeur and spectacle of the ball still washed over him like the wave of warm sunlight.

"Well, well, well... What do we have here? Find a 'key', was it?"

Hex took the sights and sounds in silently, his dark purple eyes snapping from one direction to the next. When the doorman announced their entry and the music stopped, the half-drow cocked his head to one side and waited his turn.

When he deduced it was his time, the sorcerer stepped forward briskly, then stepped back with one leg and made an elaborate bow, clutching his ches with one hand then extending the other out to a side.

"Hexldriizt Vrrast'Llar of House Illund, of the Prime Material. And may the Spider Queen choke on her black little heart if I don't prefer this Party to that of the Underdark! May your revels last until the Eternal Midsummer!" The last one he cried out in Elvish.

Then Hex took the doorman aside when formal introductions were over and the music had resumed.

"We're only passing through, I'm afraid," he whispered to the man who announced them. "You wouldn't happen to know how exactly we could do just that, would you? Find the exit? Or... a key?"

Following the others through the next door the short period of weightlessness didn’t startle Galen as much as it had the first two times now that he was expecting it. Still, not knowing what exactly was on the other side left his stomach in a small knot. The small voice in his ear made Galen roll his shoulder’s uncomfortably.

The quality of the clothes should have been a huge clue, besides the note, that the party (both his group and the event) were going to be inside. It was quite a shock seeing the grandeur of the ballroom, so many candles illuminating the space making everything glitter, including the people. There was so much color and different fashions that it was hard for Galen to not just stand and stare at everyone else. He had never heard such elegant music. The ranger was used to the folk songs and rousing music of the taverns in Westhaven. There was no place like this in the city. Nobody had this much wealth. This was a place from dreams.

He realized a bit too late that he was standing with his mouth open as the music stopped. Galen closed it with a snap, his handles fumbling with his new clothes tugging and adjusting them, as Hex started the introductions.

There was a pause as the rest of them took quick glances at each other trying to figure out who would go next.

The wood elf stepped forward after the awkward pause, standing a bit more ridgedly, like a soldier, heels together, shoulders back. “Galen Wallstrider, Ranger of Westhaven,” he bowed stiffly, arm across his waist. He stepped off to the side opposite of Hex taking in the room.

A key that might not be a ‘key’? A person or some other token” Galen thought. Picking out a specific target would be difficult he quickly concluded seeing how full the room was.

Teema
right-aligned image

When Teema was catapulted through space and time again. This time she was much more conscious about the Door and the adventure that she was now happily volunteering for. Once the harpy landed inside of the ballroom she was garbed in the same ostentatiously sumptuous outfit that she had retrieved from the chest in the previous room, and it was still as provocative as it was sparkly. Although she had stuck out her tongue at Hex and pretended as if she had an actual sense of modesty, once she spread her wings and soared up to get a better view of the festivities it was once more rather obvious that whoever had designed these clothes had an odd understanding of decency.

Fortunately, the ball was rather liberal in its dress code, with a few of the guests wearing even nothing at all. But Teema didn't get hung up on how anybody else at this ball looked and she only caught in passing how some staff member tried to give her wise words of advice as this group of adventurers had now arrived at the Neverending Party. Instead the blood harpy's thoughts circled around the words from a voice that she had heard during her transdimensional journey, and of course she was very much distracted by the flourish of impressions that this grandiose ballroom presented her mercurial mind with. Escape? Can't we stay a little? Beh! Magical doors need magical keys. Oh, look! Is that a bird mask or an actual bird like Snap Kick?!

That petite avian's thoughts ran a thousand miles per hour as her new companions beneath her introduced themselves like proper ballroom guests. But all that Teema could pick up from it was that Girgadan was a soldier, Hex had a complicated name and hated spiders, and Galen was a ranger. She was prevented from gathering any further insight into her new friends as her attention was split between far too many other things after having been unleashed on this ball without anybody to tell her how to act. Because although she had received instructions many times about how to behave herself in public, it was all a wash as she could now make these kinds of choices entirely by herself. She even failed to notice how Percy had returned to the Inn on Your Shield instead of coming to the Neverending Party, but even her newfound appreciation for the tantalizing scent of human blood couldn't compete with her much less instinctive desire to be the center of attention. And simply flying above the crowd wasn't able to cut it. She had to do even more to announce herself as the most precious attraction that this ball had ever seen.

Thus Teema began to sing. It was a wordless melody that had each note flow flawlessly into the next and the harpy's clear voice carried forth as she had been made to sing an uncountable number of times before. Teema radiated both happiness and passion with her aria, and once the three-minute composition was over her face was flushed and she was panting lightly because she had tried to sing as impressively as such a splendid ball deserved. ~Was I good, Hex? Isn't my singing beautiful??~ The birdwoman beamed with pride as she wasn't aware of the reception yet, but it was at least inspiring how her heart was visibly overflowing with the desire to appeal. Flying above everybody else, Teema's lucent eyes widened as she searched for the party guest which had appreciated her arrival the most. A person that was willing to overlook how she had failed to announce herself by name, much too absorbed by trying to capture everybody's attention with the single skill that she had been praised the most for in her short span of life.

Galen 17 15/18 Perception - someone looking at him too long +5
Teema 13 11/11 Performance + 6
Girgdan 14 (16) 15/15 Deception on Noble Birth
Hex 15 (17) 16/16 Persuasion on Doorman +6

IC First Impressions
Girgdan made his entrance with a brief introduction. The Doorman quietly complimented him, "Well done Sir, quality need have no use for fancy titles."

Hex was next. His spell didn't quite the way he had expected and his introduction was a bit rambling, although the Elven Guests - both Shadar-Kai and Eladrin picked up his comments on the Spider Queen and smiled a bit.

The Doorman gave him a bit more information as an aside, "Most quit looking for their key after the first night. There are many rumors about the key. That it is different for every group, that did doesn't exist, and that it requires service to the keyholder. You seem to have struck a chord with the Elves. Perhaps you could inquire amongst them. "

Galen introduction was short as he scanned the audience for anyone giving the group undue attention. However, everyone had turned and was looking at the group. As well, the audience was chatting quietly among themselves.

Teema's song is heartbreakingly beautiful. Her companions can see that she has poured her soul into the song. To their ears, the song appears flawless. However, the audience appeared curiously unmoved by her performance. Some begin to chat amongst themselves or turn away before she finishes.

The half-drow saluted with a picked-up glass to the Eladrin and Shadar-kai attendants who nodded and smiled his way. He didn't drink whatever libation it contained. Then he turned back to the Doorman.

"I'm sorry, terribly rude of me. What did you say your name was, good Doorman? You mentioned a certain... 'keyholder'? Please, tell me more. Here, you must be thirsty..."

Hex relayed the information mentally to Teema, who he trusted would be keen on informing the others. Hopefully she still wasn't hurting from that ignored performance. "Personally, I find your voice to have a very... mystical... quality to it. Never mind these tone-deaf fools, Teema-friend. Let us help each other find that key, and the keyholder, if there is one. Oh! And just to be safe, try not to eat or drink anything."

That done, Hex strode casually to the part of the banquet where the fey folk and shadow elves congregated. He had small talk with the most eager ones, gathering useful information about this elusive key, and the possibility of a keyholder.

"'Tis but my first day here, cousins, if you count time like I do. I won't dally, however. Balls are... not in my top priorities these days, sadly. Perhaps you could assist me then? Where can I find the Key to lead me beyond this place? Beyond this... Party?"

Girgadan
left-aligned image

Hmm - tough crowd if the Harpies entrance didn't elicit any attention. Wonder how long this never ending ball has been going on for for such apathy

Girgadan bows a little and gently claps his raised hands towards Teema, not sure if she sees him. He might get a chance to talk to her later and express his appreciation.

As Hex walks off he says, not too loudly "I plan to walk the perimeter, see what's what. Look for me on the left" - shame the doorman wasn't a great source of info but he took note of the their dress in case it depicted 'the staff'.

Before heading off to check out the edges and size of the room he turns towards the ranger "Hey Galen - I am going to walk the perimeter on the left, check for doors or other 'portals'. I also plan to see if there are any other serving staff or guards and if they have any patterns and side entrances. An endless party surely needs endless food and drink and that must come from somewhere. Would be great to meet you midway if we dont get distracted"

With that done the ex-soldier puts one hand partially in his jacket front and heads off to the left of the room looking for staff, guards, doors, stairs and especially beer and meat.

Teema
right-aligned image

Teema really had put all of her soul into the aria which she had kept in the back of her mind for just such a prestigious occasion. Yet when her lucent gaze coursed across the entire ballroom in search of applause or even just a single appreciative smile directed at her, the singing avian found herself entirely ignored by all the guests. A hurt and confused scowl immediately fell on her pretty face and the feather wreath around her neck stood up as she found herself even more flustered than when she had been abandoned on the wide ocean with only a boat of strange men to keep her company. Where are you looking?! Wait! They... they are talking? Turning away? They must have heard me! Did they... hate it??! The attention-seeking harpy's first reaction was dejection, but as her eyes flitted about a scene of really everybody staying indifferent to her performance, her emotional reaction switched to utter shock instead. Was she really this unappealing to all these illustrious? Even if the magic of the door had accidentally given her sparkly clothes that were frowned upon by the Neverending Party, Teema couldn't at all understand that not even a single person appreciated her presence or voice. The blood-harpy was rightly stupefied. Mortified even.

Even worse than getting attacked by fish beings on the open sea with no land in sight, being devalued so greatly almost put Teema at the onset of a small panic attack. Her thoughts were spiraling as she desperately beat her wings to find at least anybody that didn't think that her song had been at least likable, but before she found any guest like that she was rescued by an intrusive voice that spoke into her head. It was Hex, giving her a vague compliment and depreciating the people who all had written Teema off as uninteresting. The white-feathered harpy turned her gaze to the friendly half-elf instead and there he was, still with the doorman that had stood next to the entry at which the Westhaven adventurers had been dropped off. Teema didn't choose to respond telepathically at the moment. In fact, her feelings had been hurt far more than she was willing to talk about with Hex or anybody present for that matter. But the jovial magician did remind her that there was something to do, a key to find, and incidentally, the little harpy woman felt like hiding right now. If she wanted to leave this party then she would have to do what this stupid door had told her to do and although she wasn't in the right mindset to do much searching for anything right now, it sounded better than staying at this awful ball even any second longer.

Since curling up wasn't an option and leaving this party seemed to require Teema to act, she started a hasty swoop as she dove down back onto even ground. All of those guests had ignored the blood harpy but although she hadn't listened to him before, the doorman had actually tried to talk when she had arrived and right now Teema didn't want to talk to people that thought her greatest skill was a hackjob. Girgadan and Hex already walked off into the crowd and when she landed it was only Galen and the doorman. It was very obvious from her expression and posture that the harpy was in a more than droopy mood. Her features were twisted into a dejected pout and as she looked at the Westhaven ranger she mewled in the most pitiable voice. "They hated it!" Her talons scraped along the stone floor as she looked down to the side and shuffled on the spot. "I want to go home~..." But seeing as Galen didn't look like he could do much more than pity her, which the petite woman really wanted him to do, Teema then turned to the doorman and stepped up in front of him with a hanging head. "Please, sir. Do you know anything about where I can find this key? I don't want to be here anymore..." Her tone was sullen and her eyes were sad as she peered up at the doorman from her lower stature. If this search for the key was a game that she and her party were supposed to play, then Teema didn't want to play anymore right now.

This post is a bit of a placeholder for a longer and more involved post.

Who's in the room, Percy did not post, and so I'm assuming he is not in this adventure. Galen posted initially but didn't update.

Notes
@ElderOblex. In DnD 5e, Fey refers to any creature native to the Feywild - e.g., Fairies, Eladrin (Elves from the Feywild), Haregon (Rabit-like Humanoids). Shadow-Elves (Shadar-Kai) are from the Shadow Plane. There are no Shadar-Kai at the party. I'm going to have Hex chat up some Eladrin.
@Players, remember that you have one active (e.g., Persuasion) and one passive skill check (e.g., Insight). Some might be either Active or Passive. Actively Investigating Someone or something or merely looking for clues. If you aren't specific with what your character is doing, I'll take a bit of liberty with your rolls.

Temma - +6 Persuade Doorman, +2 Insight Doorman
Grigdan - Casing the Joint (+3 Perception) - Food and Drink service
Hex Persuasion (+6 Persuasion + 1d6)- Eladrin

As a Dimir operative, it is not surprising that Hex was mistaken for someone else. Surprisingly, he was mistaken for a native of the Feywilds - an Eladrin Elf in some bizarre costume.

Hex found several tiers or classes of people in the room. At the top were Noble Eladrin; one step down were the other natives of the Fey Wilds. Below were guests from the material plane, and then finally members of the material plane who were servants - such as musicians and the Doorman.

"Where can I find the Key to lead me beyond this place? Beyond this... Party?" queried Hex.

One of the Eladrin laughed"We do not need a key. Those of the Feywild merely need to will themselves elsewhere, and there we will be. The Key is but a vanity of the Nobles of the Court. A story told to those being from the material plane who visit here. The Nobles vie to see who will have the most pick them as the Fairest of them all." It appears that the Eladrin has mistaken Hex as a creature from the Feywild.

Girgdan circled the party's edge, examining guests and the food and drink. The first thing that struck him was the Unseen Servantmagical manifestation of force were doing most of the scut work, serving food, cleaning. The second thing was that one of the Eladrin would periodically step aside to summon food and drink to one of the tables magically.

Teemma's plight seemed to affect the Doorman. He told the Blood Harpy, "Don't cry. It is a fickle audience here. The natives of the Feywild are jaded. They have experienced so much that little sways them. In contrast, those from the other planes are in a stupor from the food and drink."

The Doorman smiled at Teema, "Merely partake of the food and drink. You will find that you are having a good time here. Then you can take your place amongst the musicians and sing to your heart's content." there was a lengthy pause and the Doorman continued, "My memory fades, but I seem to remember several of the guests approaching various of the Eladrin Nobility." He gestured to the other end of the room. "Perhaps the fairest is among them."

“I don’t think they hated it. But I have a feeling some of them might be deaf or have some magic on them. It was very pretty. How long have you been practicing that piece?” the ranger replied to the harpy. Most of the body language he was reading seemed to say they were considered beneath most of the other guests present. Galen could see that Teema was more than just upset that no one in the room acknowledged her beautiful song. He stayed close to her as she moved off to question the doorman.

“Eladrin,’ Galen mused at the doorman’s reply. “Teema, didn’t Hex say he was going to talk to the other elves. Can you find him? Maybe he’s on the right track in finding the key. Don't eat or drink anything here, we might not be able to leave if you do. You really might be stuck in the Neverending Party” he said. Then lowering his voice more so one else would hear, "I don’t think the key is an object like a normal key. I think it might be a person.”
