1: Aisle
2: Seating Left
3: Seating Right
4: Stage

Locations:
Teema: 4 Landed on Hex
Hex: 4
Gallen: 3

For Teema, the air above Zones 2-4 counts as a zone. She can land/take off without penalty.

Lighting: Dim (-5 Perception), unless the PCs use a light source or have Darkvision

@players, it's up to your three. You can attempt to track down the invisible voices or exit at the theatre's rear.

Now that was a neat trick, I don't think I would want to see the conclusion of the show if you bring un-dead in here. How about another illusion or something instead," the ranger suggested stepping into the isle and over to the other side of seats.

Hex's growling was interrupted by another voice in his head, sent by his cursed earring. He had a feeling the entity on the other end didn't care one way or another what happened to the half-drow, but it was a tempting idea indeed to irk those irksome tricksters.

"Teema-friend, our Party's Host says these invisible jokesters have a treasure horde. Can you find it?"

Whether or not said horde was actually valuable was anyone's guess. Galen seemed to be buying more time to find the invisible creatures as well, so Hex decided to follow the Fairest's advice.

"Zombie? Shill? Do I even want to know what a shill actually is? Such sad, uninspired ideas!"

Hex casually made his way to the back of the stage, looking for the exit. Was there some hidden control room somewhere in this theater? Perhaps that's where they were.

"Perhaps that was why the Fairest shunned you from their Party, hm? Because you were such lousy entertainment. My harpy friend here could teach you a thing or two about entertainment, you know... She has quite an emchanting mouth..." Hex said with a mocking grin.

Teema was very excited when she realized that this show didn't put them in any actual danger, however Hex didn't appear to share her returned enthusiasm as he denounced the performance by sending the blood harpy one of his telepathic messages. She hadn't been looking at the half-drow for a moment, looking at the floating illusion in the front of the guillotine instead, but once his inconsolable thoughts reached her, the little harpy jerked around and gave Hex a startled look while he grit his teeth. He hates it? Why? Now Teema felt bad and confused that she had tried to motivate Hex into something he so clearly hated, though he did in the end help to complete the magic trick as he bowed for the crowd and returned Galen his purloined pouch. Not wanting to go against Hex after she was still feeling insecure about what had happened when he had allowed her to take his blood, Teema made a sad expression that the show might be over, which seemed more and more the case when even the invisible voices began to argue with each other and sounded like they were thinking about dropping the act. The avian woman was dismayed. ~But Hex! I know what this is, this is a magic show! It was supposed to be scary!~

But Hex seemed mildly distracted as more and more voices were talking to him simultaneously, and so when his telepathic reply suggested that Teema should go robbing the magician's treasure hoard, it still sounded like he was very intent on not playing along with the show any further. And he evidently meant for Teema to stop playing along too. Why?! Their ideas are not that sad and uninspired... I think they're not that bad... A deep pout crossed over the harpy woman's face, but she also didn't want Hex's visible anger to be extended to her as well. While Teema was still thinking of a response and how she could talk her friend into not stealing from the people who had invited them to attend their little magic show, Hex already walked off the stage while saying mean things about Chaos and Havoc. He also paid Teema a compliment, which was nice since she did indeed think of herself as rather entertaining, but it didn't change that in his view the show appeared to be over before it had ever gotten beyond the first trick.

Since the petite harpy had failed to reply to Hex for the last few seconds, she decided rather than giving him backtalk she was going to plead with him. That had worked at least sometimes in Teema's past before becoming an adventurer. ~Do we have to, Hex? Were they so bad that we have to steal their things?~ Secretly the petite avian was hoping to see more of the show, a little like Galen was suggesting, but she felt like she would have to join disrupting this show if Hex would insist. Before he could manage to get out another telepathic response though, Teema slyly spoke up with a loud voice to maybe catch the illusionists' attention. "Uhm... I would also like to see more illusions and no undead. Or I could do a magic trick of my own if you'd like... I can do one thing that's really pretty, but my singing is better, I think." With a flutter of Teema's white wings she took to the top of the stage where she perched and at least Perception (17)scanned the auditorium in order to appease Hex who was looking for a hoard. The harpy figured that her Faerie Fire spell at least was a bit of a spectacle, if maybe not as intricate as the illusion of chopping off a participant's head. But somewhat deep down the playful harpy didn't really want to ruin the show of these elven magicians, even if they were one of these Eladrins. So she waited for further replies that might her help decide what was the right thing to do.

"The Fairest? You've been to the Faewild and returned to tell the tale?"Where before the voices had been playful, the emotions drained from the voice. "Perhaps you are here to take us back?"

Then the second voice came from another corner. "Well, if you don't like this trick, we could try another one."

Hidden behind a curtain, Temma spied an ornate box on a table. The box was made of fine wood and with a silver inlay.

Hex was slightly irritated by Teema's constant double-taking, but had to remind himself that she was an exotic adventurer indeed. "Well, if this is all a magic show, the treasure's probably still part of the trick! Why don't you you enjoy the show and keep them busy while I go look? Did you notice anything then? Hmm, what do you say?"

"Take you back, hah! You've fled that crazy Party, too, I see? Perhaps... But, perhaps not."

Hex smiled again. He nodded to the blood harpy who was obviously exciting at the prospect of more spectacles. "Perhaps if you entertain my flying friend here, we'd be on our way?" Hex proposed while still looking around both for the horde and for the exit.

From her new point of vantage, Teema's lucent eyes were coursing from the seating area to the stage and then past it to the back of a curtain that hadn't been designed to ward off nosy visitors that were able to fly. There on a table stood an ornate box made of silver and wood, and due to its hidden placement, the little harpy immediately assumed that it was the hoard which Hex had been meaning to find. Drats! There really is a treasure. Oh no, I hope Hex doesn't ask me if I saw anything... Teema felt her heart sink as she now either had to lie to her friend or snitch on the people who were trying to present her with a unique magic show. Above in her current perch she crossed her feathery wings and was peering just a smidge above them in order to hide her face, hoping that nobody would be able to spot her guilty expression from below. At least on Havoc and Chaos it seemed to work as they didn't make mention of having noticed anything suspicious about her demeanor, and indeed they even proposed that they might offer a second magic trick if the adventurers pleased to see it. That was nary even a question. "Oh yes, please! I would like another trick! I'll volunteer! Me, me!"

Without any further need to hide her expression and her guilt blown away by enthusiasm, Teema uncrossed her wings and beamed down below where she couldn't make out the location of their invisible hosts. But given the circumstances she hardly cared about that. The avian woman saw an opportunity that the show might yet continue, and she was really looking forward to that given how unexpected the first trick had been. She wasn't sure that they were going to be able to scare her again, but maybe she could just act like she was afraid in order to keep Chaos and Havoc showing even more tricks. That felt like something she could do easily. As Teema was eagerly awaiting the magic show to resume, Hex's telepathy suggested to her that she could have fun with the show while he focused on taking their stuff, but in that moment it occurred to the little harpy that the illusionists had also played a trick on Galen's belongings, so playing a trick on theirs in return might be all in good fun. Maybe she would be able to keep everybody happy and nothing bad would have to happen as the show would go on. ~Hmm, okay. Right behind me here there is a curtain and then a chest that looks kinda like it might have some trick or coins in it. Can you make yourself invisible Hex? Maybe we could do a big trick and surprise them with a performance of our own!~ Having received his favorable reply, the half-elven adventurer quickly returned the favor as he proclaimed that their host should commence entertaining Teema. The petite blood harpy couldn't help but beat her wings in excitement as she loved the idea of that and thus she awaited the next act.

“Yes we have. Our short visit was more than enough. Although I don’t think we were quite as entertaining as you. Our Harpy friend sang a lovely song that did not seem to impress them and hex here won our way out with riddles. We were not tasked with retrieving anyone and no mentioned a Chaos or Havoc.

Another trick would be fine. If you need another volunteer I would be obliged,” Galen offered hoping to give Hex some time to do some searching of his own.

"Sweet!" Exclaims one of the voices, while another reassures, "Don't worry, the trick won't harm you. At least not permanently." The two voices are now once again playful.

"My flying friend, you can try a bit of musical accompaniment. Your singing is good, at least for the mundane realm. However, you should train one of your followers to provide a musical accompaniment. Do you know Pop Goes the Weasel? It is appropriate for this trick."

The other voice giggles. A top hat appears and floats over to Galen. "It's easier if you don't save from the spell, but we have a fix."

There is a flash, a bang, and a puff of smoke. When the smoke clears...

Thanks to Teema's charm and Galen's volunteerism, Hex was free to investigate this hoard the Fairest spoke of. He made his way to the chest, trying to find a way to open it and extract its contests without the invisible showpeople noticing.

Since they like tricks, finding an empty hoard might even make them laugh...

A tall silk hat floats down to Galen from above. He reaches out and takes it in his hand, it seemed mundane enough.
“As long as it isn’t permanent I will play along,” the ranger assured the voices of Havoc and Chaos, “Teema some music please.”

OOC Galen will not roll a save and just let the trick happen. It seems to be putting the hosts in a good mood.

Galen is under a polymorph spell. He is now a mouse and so hidden inside the hat.
Hex finds that the small wooden chest is not locked and would open easily to the touch. Hex can use a sleight of hand to open the box without anyone noticing. Hex has advantage due to his two companions putting on a show.

Teema hits the pop portion of pop goes the weasel. There is a flash, a bang, and a puff of smoke. When the smoke clears, there was a hat sitting on the stage with no sign of Galen. A voice announced, "And he's gone."

"No worries, my fine flying friend. Chaos and Havoc have never lost a player." a few titters, "Well, never intentionally; there was that one heckler."

and then the second voice, "He's not lost. He's somewhere in the Fae Wilds."

Teema's face fell for a few moments as Galen readily reminded the entire showroom how much the people at the party had hated the enthusiastic harpy's darndest efforts to make them happy with her song. But opposed to receiving further ridicule as Teema had half expected, Chaos and Havoc wanted her to sing for them and Pop Goes The Weasel was so universally known that the avian attention-seeker immediately regained her vigor and flexed her vocal skills to wash away the memory of the ball and the kind of Eladrin Teema didn't like. And in return, she was rewarded with one more trick.

Poof, all of a sudden Galen was absconded from his position among the seats, and with no sight of the elven ranger in the entire room, only the top hat which had been thrown to him mere moments before had reappeared in the middle of the stage. With the next note already on her lips, Teema forgot to finish her own play as even her own attention wasn't on herself. Instead she eagerly started to clap applause, which due to her wings and talons was a little awkward but seemingly she had practiced it in the past and so made some noise. "He's gone, he's gone!" The blood harpy cheered and her head turned to look for Hex who had already slipped behind the curtain. ~They made Galen go up in smoke! You missed it! Hurry!~ Turning back to the show, Havoc or Chaos threatened that they might happen to end up losing Teema's friend and companion. But the petite harpy didn't believe them and only laughed instead. Only upon the second claim did her eyes grow wide. "Galen is gone to the fae wilds?! Oh no!" That was something Teema could believe. What will they do to get him back?! The heart-fluttering anticipation that the harpy felt was written all over her rapt face.

This door has gone on long enough. I'm going to wrap it here.

The math on the treasure is Level Squared (4) * 52 /5 (5 doors) ~ 42 gold/adventurer. Rounded up to 50 due to good play and extended duration.

IC Welcome to the Show

Hex managed to open the box without the invisible jokers noticing - or at least drawing attention to his actions. Hex found three gold bars inside the box (~ 50 gold each).

On the stage, the show continues. A thin silk sheet comes floating out of nowhere, suspended above the hat sitting on the stage.

One of the invisible voices called out, "A fanfare, our flying friend." with a bit of singing from Teema and the release of the Polymorph spell, Galen morphs back under the silk blanket, which is whisked off to reveal the Elven Ranger.

"Take a bow, our friends" called out one of the voices from yet another spot on the stage. "We appreciate your help in fine-tuning our act. Tell your friends that Chaos and Havoc are performing here regularly."

The door at the rear of the theatre opened, showing the inside of the On-Your-Shield.
