Rhazor Blackhand (rogue level 4) Rhazor watches the last shark disappear into the depths. We were lucky again. No losses. Cautiously, he steps up to the railing. I didn't contribute much. He looks at the bolts floating on the water and now disappearing towards the stern. The young rogue spits into the waves. His heart beat slows down as does his level of adrenaline in is blood. After a while - it seems like meditation for the others - he looks again into the distance at the rocks and the strange creatures. A dark premonition comes over him. No, we don't do such stupid things. Or do we? "We're not landing right there now, are we?" he asks the others.

Briggs IC Briggs smirks at the Kenku’s laconic reply, then furrows his brow as he regards the island. "All fours, eh? Doesn’t look promising, but who knows? Maybe they’ve some intelligence? Depending on what the bird—er—scout finds, maybe we could try hailing them from our ship?"

Screwtape butts in Humanoid, but on all fours? That did not sound promising. The only humanoids he could think of that-- "...unlike your ordinary bird, Duha both assists in combat and gives me access to his excellent senses..." Confor's face reddens, but before he says anything rash a cultured voice speaks from the warlock's shoulder. "Curses," cries his familiar while burying it's head melodramatically under a wing, "I have been revealed as but a shadow of the useful spirit that is serving the Beacon of Estagund! If only I had a fraction of the raw talent--nay, an iota of Duha's intellect!--I could be a very useful bird, indeed. Alas," the tiny fiend spirit said as he faded from sight, invisible but still audible, "my scouting talents lie in a different direction than the mighty owl serving the renowned Deveste." The bastard half-elf is torn between emotions, both grateful to Screwtape for defending Confor and annoyed that the 'crow' had cutoff the angry retort the warlock had been about to make. And anger would not have impressed my fellow sell-swords, or my friend...thank you Screwtape, the ex-conman thought grudgingly. His infernal patron's representative did not respond but Confor could sense a certain smugness emanating through his link to the familiar.

Cha-kra As the maritime creatures realized themselves to be outmatched by the adventurers, Cha-kra seamlessly transitioned from combat to combat readiness, which gradually appeared to be two of his most comfortable states of being. The Thri-kreen peered below, giving barely any recognition that Arrogaio and Confor had roused his attention with their continued escapades, but it was very obvious that the mantis wouldn't get involved and instead his facetted eyes turned across the waves, finding the scrambling humanoids as Cha-kra began to judge their danger from afar.

from the birds eye view and the uncanny vision of cha-kra you manage to make out more details. the creatures seem to be humanoids merged with the sea. they seem to be about six foot standing with green skin. some have quills on their forearms while others have tentacle like appendages.

duha manages to spot a fairly simple path through the rocky terrain however you still have these creatures who now seem interested in their new area of interest. Some stand up while others begins to descend down the rocks. duha hears grunts and sees handwaving.

to black hands remark about landing the captain responds, "Aye lad the beach awaits. You asked us to take you and we did. Dont expect us to dock long though. Light a fire and le the smoke talk it will guide us back. "

Rhazor Blackhand (rogue level 4) So be it... Rhazor sighs and steps closer to the bow. The whole shore, the cliffs, the fish creatures - everything shouted loud and clear 'Stay away!' As if the gods were sending a warning to the mortals and they were once again running to their doom with their eyes closed. Or is it just coincidence? A whim of a superior master playing a game? Rhazor doesn't know, and even if he did, it still wouldn't change anything. Rhazor loads his crossbow and places his left foot on a roll oof rope for a secure footing.

Confor Sea spawn. Amphibious people who go on all fours? The thought was disquieting. Could they be avoided? Fighting the creatures amongst the worn stones thrust up above the surface didn't seem wise; getting into range of shortbows and light crossbows--80 feet?--could get the ship stuck on underwater rocks. "Captain, is the entire shore of the island this jagged? Meaning, can we sail around to find a place where a launch could be put in the water in an area where a small boat is at less risk of the rocks? Even if we drive the sea spawn from this area, this seems like a risky place for your ship to drop anchor."

Cha-kra Cha-kra imperceptibly hesitated for a moment as the captain insisted that the adventurers should make target practice out of the sea-spawned creatures. But as the Thri-Kreen was still in his elevated position up in the crow's nest, he wasn't exactly in talking distance with the crew, and as everybody else prepared to fire he also raised his elven longbow. A quick scan of the surroundings didn't suggest any immediate better landing spot that the mantis could see, and thus he emotionlessly adjusted to let the arrows fly with everybody else.
