One down! She didn't really have to move much from her hidden place, particularly with the range of the only weapon that was effective against a flying creature. As more bolts and rays shot out from her allies, she briefly took aim with her longbow and

shot an arrow towards the creature's body. She didn't need to do anything fancy, as long as the body blows managed to bring the creature down. But their cleric appeared to suffering the worst of the creature but also giving back in equal measure. She crouched down again to give herself some cover from any flying spikes.

In the ruins of the Magmell IslandThe adventurers attack the last manticore from all sides and with everything they have - spells, bolts, arrows! Some hit, some miss, but in total, the manticore seems to be in serious trouble - at least from the adventurers point of view.
The beast roars in pain and anger. It flaps its large wings and rises about height 35 feet, now25 more feet, obviously in an attempt to change its assault tactic. "THIEVES! THESE ARE OUR TREASURES! WE! WE CAPTURED IT FROM STUPID ORCS! WE! GIVE THEM BACK! GIVE THEM BACK OR DIE!! MURDERER! DIE!"

The manitcore's tail points at Suluruk and

The half-Orcs chainmail armor turned the barrage of spikes. Suluruk laughed as he thought, "Than Borean I'm better armored than my brethren who run around in animal hides'

Again, Suluruk unleashed divine attacks. Suluruk's spirit weapon stabbed at the Manticore raced after the Manticore. Where before it had attacked from above, now it attacked from below.

Suluruk called out, "Foolish creature, you killed and stole from the Orcs, who killed and stole from the crew of the skyship. Yet you call us thieves and murders. Foolish creature, your greed will be your death, as it was for the Orcs and Skyship crew before you. "

Khat - Rouge Female Shifter (Swiftstride) | Darkvison: 60ft, PP 13, PI 11 | Status: normal | Initiative: +5

Khat winced twice, first as her two psi-blades missed the creature twisting and turning in the sky and then a second time as three spikes slammed into Suluruk's armor. "A pair for grim reminders about why I prefer to strike from ambush. thought the Rogue.

The Swiftstride shifter focused on putting down the Manticore before it could do more injury to her companions or, worse yet, turn their attention from Suluruk to the leather-clad Rogue. With a thought, Khat summoned a pair of shimmering blades in her hands and tossed them at the flying beast.

"We're being mean because you stole it first? Excuse me while I wipe my tears." He absentmindedly shot off another ray at it, barely looking. He was half in shock at the entitlement of the beast. "Hey, when I ransack dead things, it's because they were dead when I got there. Or they were a clear and present danger, so they got dropped and then I took their stuff. Have some class, at least."

In the ruins of the Magmell Island

Although the manticore continues to rise, it faces a dense hail of attacks. Perhaps she could have escaped Sulurk's divine forces - or Khat's flying blades - or Valerius' frost ray. Each individually, perhaps, but not all together.
And not Prrup-tik's deadly unerring hand.

The manticore flutters its tattered wings, desperate and ever weakening. Its tail twitches helplessly and the flight becomes more and more a sinking, finally a kind of controlled crash. But then the frogman's bolt slams directly into the skull, causing the head to snap to the side. The manticore twitches and spits blood, then the body goes limp and the predator crashes to the hard ground. The body bounces up with the sickening sound of breaking bones, then remains surprisingly formless. The claws twitch a few more times in its death throes, then silence falls.

"Really? Big flying cat really gone? When return?" a thin little voice sounds from the barrel. The Golbin doesn't seem to believe in the deaths of the both manticores yet. But any answer is drowned out by the roar of the Dragonrise, which now looms giant-like over the edge of the island, casting a huge shadow over the remains of the carnage. One can see the armed crew watching down from the railing, obviously expecting to see no-one alive anymore.
DMOC:End of combat. Congratulation, you won!

As his adrenaline subsides, Prrup-tik begins to feel his great fatigue again. He waves up at the Dragonrise crew, in part to signal the resolution of the conflict, in part just to say "hi." He gives them a thin and rubbery thumb up, to make things perfectly clear.

As the goblin has stuck around, Prrup-tik continues their conversation. "Well, that'sth it for the flying catsth. I guesth...Hey! - where did you and the orcsth come from? You can't fly! Are there more of you around?"

Khat - Rouge Female Shifter (Swiftstride) | Darkvison: 60ft, PP 13, PI 11 | Status: normal | Initiative: +5

Khat is tired. However, she has been here before, and the hunter in her knows that because the prey is down, it does not mean the danger is over. The Swiftstride Shifter called out to her companions, "We've much to do and little time. The crashed ship, the Orcs, and the two Manticores. All mean that this is a popular spot; someone or something may come along to pick over the remains of this fight. We need to deal with the dead, take what we can of the remains from the ship, and possibly explore the ruins here. We should also be ready to cast off quickly should something else - say a Dragon return. "

Khat looked at the ruins of the buildings. "I'm good at scouting and skulking. I'll check out a few of these buildings and see if anything worth taking is left."

Khat set off towards the ruins, staying the shadows,

Solulruk spoke up, "I'll find out what the Captain was done with the dead." The Cleric of Borean looked around, "not a good place to bury the dead, but I doubt the Captain will waste the weight to take them back. Perhaps a funeral pyre." mused the Half-Orc.

Solulruk looked to the other party members, "Someone should search the ship for treasure and supplies. Let's gather them so that they can be hoisted aboard our airship."

"There we are. I think I need to put more thought into stopping flying things." He brushed himself off and looked over his wounds.

"That's a nice idea, but if we're pressed for time, we have a simpler option." Stowing his weapon and his druidic focus, Valerius rolled up his sleeves and grabbed a manticore's leg and tried to drag it to the edge of the island, meaning to dump it over.

In the ruins of the Magmell Island
The airship is just setting down for landing when Prrup-tik raises his thumb. Shouts ring out on the deck, the engine revs up, the airship immediately aborts its landing attempt and rises steeply while the crew bends over the railing or looks out the hatch and scans the ground for further dangers.
And no matter how many times the frogman gives the thumbs up, the airship will not descend.

The goblin climbs cautiously and with a suspicious face out of his barrel, looks around and then tries with little dignity to wipe the fish remains from his face and hair. Stinking red slime and remnants of fins drip from his hands over his scuffed leather armor onto his weapons belt and then onto the blood-soaked ground.

"I come by airship of orcs. Me kitchen boy only. Me not fight. Orcs fight! We find airship and collect food. Then big flying cat attack and kill everyone." he sums up what happened, even though his equipment naturally raises a question or two.
"Orc airship fly to camp and pick us ... me ... again."

Khat disappears into the ruins and searches them for traps and treasures, but except for a few oversized spiders waiting in their huge webs for unwary small animals and birds, there is nothing to see there. Even the furniture is missing. The inhabitants seem to have left the place - or rather the remains that are not yet broken off and propped up in the depths - long ago and in a planned way, which is quite explainable in view of the cracks and crevices on the floor and walls.

Suluruk recovers the dead crew members of the airship during this time and carries them together. Valerius drags the first Manticore to the edge of the island and pushes it impiously over the edge. The corpse slides over rocks and dirt and disappears into the clouds.

Meanwhile, the airship has also landed. Captain Frostraven slowly strides down the row of dead before she stops in front of the disfigured corpse of a young man and sinks to her knees, sobbing heavily.
"Why? Why?" she whispers, "Why did you do this? Why did you have to come to this cursed place? For gold? It was empty the last time, too." A crying fit shakes her. 1st Helmsman Ragrum Stormfall gently places a hand on her shoulder. A feeble attempt at comfort in a tough subculture that knows no feelings, where everyone is tough, unapproachable, and above all, replaceable.
"What shall I tell Edlja, Worak and Ronja? Tell me! That their father is not coming anymore? Torn to pieces by orcs for nothing?" She breaks down crying.

1st Helmsman Ragrum Stormfall turns to Prrup-tik. "Thoran and Finkra are missing." He nods in the direction of the golbin, who is trying to sneak back toward the barrel. "Find out if they are on the orcish airship." The dwarf looks to his captain, who is still crouched on the ground. "We need to know everything, even if you flay the goblin! Show no mercy!"

Prrup-tik looks at the captain with concern. He touches his fingers together, physically reminding himself that he cannot safely reach out to comfort her. Stormfall startles the frog-man with his abrupt order. “Um…OK,” Prrup-tik responds. “I mean: aye, aye. I don’t think I know how to ‘flay,’ though.” Stormfall doesn’t seem to be listening. “I’ll figure it out,” says the grung, turning toward the goblin.

Prrup-tik steps over to the goblin lightly, and ahead of Cujo, so as not to agitate the de facto prisoner further. “Stho…” he begins, “did the orcsth take anyone with ‘em? Y’know – prisoners?

he adds, frowning up at the sky, “when ya think they’re comin’ back?”

The tiefling sang softly to himself as he hauled the thing to the edge. "What do ya with a man' ti' core-corpsemanticore corpse? What do ya do with a manticore corpse? What do ya do with a man-ti-core-corpse-" He broke off his shanty to give it a farewell kick before it teetered over, and in pausing a beat too long to come up with a witty final verse, noticed the captain in her nigh-hysterical state. He wasn't always great at reading the room, though he thinks he does alright, and immediately grasped that his singing and corpse flinging may be seen as inappropriate right now, and attempts to quietly slink into the forest to see if he can be useful somewhere else.

She joined her allies after the last creature had fallen, watching the proceedings in a somewhat detached manner. She bent down at long last and touched the creature's fur, almost like she had some sort of empathy for its demise. Shrugging lightly, she got to her feet again and started to help Suluruk with the collection and sorting of the bodies. It wasn't easy work and certainly not for the faint of heart, but as one who'd lived nearly two centuries, she had seen her fair share of corpses. The dead didn't stay in good shape for long.

She rinsed her hands afterward with a little water, and joined the rest of the crew around the dead bodies, standing to one side so as not to affect the obvious grief. She chose a position beside Prrup-tik, who's command of the goblin language was the only clue they had to how to proceed from here. "Sounds like not all the crew were killed. Some may have been captured and taken on that other airship. I am well aware of what flaying is, but I would suggest that we stay clear from any forms of torture. We need a position for the camp. That's all. I'm sure the goblin will know. And perhaps some coin can loosen its tongue." Sounded like they were going on a rescue mission. In part she'd joined this crew because of her dislike of orcs, but saving lives was always more important. Killing one or two more for Aludra's sake would certainly ease some of the guilt and pain she felt.

In the ruins of the Magmell Island
While Valerius sings a very strange farewell song to the two Manticores, Kazza Leafwind helps Suluruk collect the bodies of the crew. Meanwhile, the crew of the Dragonrise unabashedly mangle the corpses of the orcs, but apparently don't find enough to satisfy the greed and vengefulness, and so a few of the already mangled corpses get a few more kicks and insults.

The goblin has apparently understood enough of 1st Helmsman Ragrum Stormfall's command to Prrup-tik to realize that he is in grave danger. His eyes narrow. "You say Snyder Smallblade is safe. You say you friend of Snyder Smallblade!" A reproach resonates in his words. "Snyder Smallblade help frogman and tell frogman where be hidden island camp of orcs. And then frogman protect Snyder Smallblade from evil dwarf." He points his chin toward Ragrum, currently talking with Able Aeronaut Featherstar. Both glance hostilely at the both small creatures. "You swear by your In my world, a sacred oath in the name of the gods has a meaning and must not be broken if you don't want to roll with disadvantage until the end of the game.frog gods!" the gnome requests desperately.
