[OOC] Forests of Fear

Hello all,

welcome to my adventure. I'm LeDragon, DM since many years. "Forests of Fear" is my forth adventure in West Marches.
I'm new to DND5e, thus, if you think that I misapply rules, please contact me via PM or within this thread.

Three points to make my DMing easier:

1. Please add at the bottom of each of your post the basic statistics of your character, like AC, current HP, passive perception and a link to your character sheet. A complete stats block is not needed, but welcome.
   
   
2. You may use the Lady Luck thread for rolls (please add a link of the roll to your post) or roll with the inum code [DlCE="Test #1"]inum d20[/DlCE] right into your actions which results in e.g.

   Jasoya attacks the orc with a mighty swing

   Dice * Attack:

   d20+5

   (14)+5

   Total = 19

   (19) and leaves a deep wound

   Dice * damage:

   d8+4

   (7)+4

   Total = 11

   (11).

3. In combat, please summarize your actions additionally in a field below with Action; Bonus Action; Movement; Conditions;

English is not my mother tongue, so mistakes will happen. If anything is unclear or the wording is strange - please tell me. And never forget: we are all here to have fun together!

Zook is going to buy a mule. He's still got the saddle and saddlebags he made for riding Jaeger. If possible, Zook would like to ride the mule. Zook intends to fight at a range (e.g., Magic Stone) from the mule's back but will dismount to fight in melee.

@Players,

• Zook has Guidance as a spell and will provide it (out of combat) to any characters that ask.
• Despite good AC and HP (AC 18, HP 18), Zook prefers to fight at range with magic stones and/or spells.
• Zook has a variety of spells but a limited number of spell slots (3). He'll save the slots for emergencies, preferring to use ritual magic or cantrips.
• Zook is a toolmaster, and happy to use his tools to help out companions Tools: Alchemy (BG) Tinker (race), Thieves (C1), Leather (C2), Smith Tools (C3),

Stinger already has a mule, which he rides, and a mastiff, which is just to help him with his atrocious Perception. I expect Stinger to spend most of his time muleback, shooting, only occasionally rooting and tooting. He's decently brickish, though, with 20hp, Second Wind, and a feat that allows him to use his crossbow even when engaged.

Not much else of interest. Stealth, and some INT skills. He needs light, and uses a bullseye lantern.

Also <3 for Fharlanghn. My longest running RPGX character was two years as a divine soul of Fharlanghn.

A little intimidated to be playing with high powered DMPCs, but I am confident this will be a fun time.

Oodiliana is squishy compared to others, but stout compared to others of her kind. And mobile. Has magic and can engage at range. Is quirky and in general has a positive outlook on life.

You know what they say about the power of positivity...

It's a delusional optimism that often leads to bad choices and peril.

Note: characters who do not donate in their posts are not blessed. Zook payed for his mule and himself.

The blessing is a voluntary tool to avoid that your character is killed due to a poor roll. Use it or not. It's up to you.

Btw: where is the lamb? I continue the story tomorrow morning (CET).

Apologies for the delay. I had to work today and have been shuffling around holiday/family stuff... Also figuring out WM formatting: finding and catching up on game threads.

Working on a post now, but to confirm, is it morning and we stayed the night somewhere? Or are we just walking out of the tavern after our conversation?

It is morning. Presumably the inn had rooms for rent. Currently gathering at the stables behind the inn. Before we leave, a couple of town priests are offering blessing for the travel (in exchange for a donation).

We should work on a few bits, like a marching order and maybe a night watch order.

In terms of marching order, we're a bit unusual in that we've got a flyer (Oodiliana) and the two wagons of Prod and Miguel. So, I suggest

• Jonathan and Declan in the front,
• Oodiliana (flying ?) and Syrota in the middle between 1st and 2nd Wagons
• Stinger and Zook in the rear (after the last two wagons).

So it was a very late and sleepy hour last night when I wrote that post trying to get it in before an update. I do apologize for missing Zook, Declan, and Stinger in my intro. It wasn't intended as a snub, just that she's into her song and dance at the moment.

Oodiliana doesn't march, she dances to be social and flies to have fun or be tactical. No need to complicate marching order on her account. Couldn't help but notice that the women are stuck in the middle though.

No worries, with a six person party it can be overwhelming to try and include interactions with all characters, I suggest focusing on one or two. Syrota looking for Oodiliana is a good example.

I couldn’t find a non-snarky response to the implication that I put Oodiliana and Syrota in the middle, due to their sex and not their class. So, I’ll be blunt and say that I resent the implication.

Second: I have to apologize for posting today. I had a schedule and I have kids and both didn't work at all.

Third: I know purplerook for a couple of adventures and he thinks purely in tactical options.

Haha, my apologies. I hadn't considered the dangers of the aerial dancing.

I don't think anyone, except maybe the animals, were around for reversion back from sheep to Owlin. Likely the voice would be the same to help deduce they were one and the same.

At some point in 'The Inn', there was an owl at the sheep and I thought that was meant as a kind of symbol of the double nature. But as English as a foreign language, maybe this wasn't that clear at all and more meta-knowledge.
