Despite his short fuse, he is charismatic and has a commanding presence from his time at sea, managing the deckhands on the Seafoam Dream. People are drawn to him despite his gruff and irritable demeanor, or perhaps because of it; he is a master of getting what he wants, despite his curses and insults. Keiran’s natural inclination is to take command. He has little patience for philosophical musings and impractical discussion. Physical Description: Keiran is a rugged and weathered sailor, thirty four years of age, with a curly brown beard, dark bulging eyes, and a prominent nose. He is often seen wearing a washed-out leather vest and a red cap, which serves as a symbol of his status. When sailing, Keiran moves with the confident and steady gait of someone who has spent a lifetime at sea. He climbs the rigging with ease and strides across the deck with authority, commanding the respect of those around him with his every step. Backstory: Keiran was the youngest scion of the Finnegan household, a line of seafaring men and women, who for generations had charted their course across the boundless main. From a tender age, Keiran was enthralled by the mysteries of the deep, for in his blood ran the salty sea, and in his heart beat the drum of adventure. His father, the mighty Captain Finnegan, was a sailor renowned from horizon to horizon, and his mother, Lady Elspeth, a navigator of unmatched skill. With six siblings all sharing their parents' love of the open ocean, Keiran grew up amidst the roar of the wind, the crash of the waves, and the tales of daring exploits. As he grew, so too did his reputation as a sailor. At the age of twenty-five, Keiran had saved enough of his hard-earned coin to purchase the Lightning Swallow, a nimble and swift vessel that he captained as a smuggler. Despite the disapproval of his parents, who saw his life on the wrong side of the law as a stain on the family name, Keiran was drawn to the excitement and danger of the life he led. Then came the day when Keiran was offered a post as bosun aboard the Seafoam Dream, a grand vessel belonging to the notorious Black Diamonds smuggling syndicate. He accepted the position with eagerness, hoping to prove his worth as a leader on a larger stage and to reap greater rewards from his life on the waves. Charismatic, but with a quick temper, Keiran was both feared and respected aboard the Seafoam Dream. But his life as a smuggler only served to widen the rift between him and his parents, who eventually disowned him. Despite his falling out with his parents, Keiran's brother, Keth, came to join him aboard the Seafoam Dream under less than fortunate circumstances. After losing his job on a merchant vessel following a disagreement with the captain, Keth found himself with few options. He joined the Seafoam Dream as a deckhand, eager to put his seafaring skills to use and earn a steady wage. It was a fateful day when Keth was captured by the Ocean Watch during a smuggling run. Keiran was wracked with guilt, knowing that it was his own actions that had brought his sibling to such a dire predicament. Determined to right his wrongs, Keiran set out to rescue Keth, braving the perils of the sea and the wrath of the authorities to save his brother. The rescue was a success, but the experience left a lasting mark on Keiran. He could not bear the thought of endangering others and decided to leave his life as a smuggler behind. He abandoned the Seafoam Dream and set out in search of a new calling. That was how he met Sir Roderick and joined the voyage beyond Yonder Sea, seeking adventure and a way to make amends for his past deeds.
