Oh right. 'Cause it's not like the Mavs won both regular season games by a combined 60 points...

But seriously, Damp usually does a good job against the Diesel and Flash isn't going to be able to do that much against JHo. I predict the Mavs sweep.

OK, my comment about not winning with Roloson seems eerily prescient now.

I don't remember. They are on all the statues in downtown Raleigh, including George Washington and Andy Griffith. If I had to guess, I'd say it was Sir Walter Raleigh, but with his garb covered it's hard to tell.

Losing Rolli was just the icing on the cake. The real problem is we get a few goals ahead, and then we relax and get complacent. Haven't the Oilers ever read the Goblet of Fire? CONSTANT VIGILANCE!

On the up side, at least Pronger´s in the record books now. That´s good. Kinda.

Does anyone recognise the CONSTANT VIGILANCE line from anywhere else? I have the feeling I´ve heard it somewhere apart from the wierd potter character.

Yeah, the Pronger goal was pretty sweet. And I only know the line from Potter.

Well, I'm a quarter of the way to being right about the Cane's sweep. 3 more games.....

As for the Mavs, well, this is the post season. The regular season doesn't count. And I know all about that. I'm a Braves fan. The Heat are playing ball like nobody's business, and Shaq is as healthy as he's ever been....er...this season. The first game Shaq didn't even play, and the second, well, it happens.

Heat will win in 6

It's ok, Oilers will still pull it off. Even without Rollie, the team will rally together and smarten up. Really. It'll happen.

I hope.

Oh, and I think there was a line in Wing Commander 4:

"The price of Freedom is eternal vigilance"

... which is actually a quote from Thomas Jefferson (I find out after googling it).

Oh well, I'm Canadian, so I can be forgiven for not knowing that right away.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Carolina would sweep the Oilers - after all, to have made it to the NHL, Ty Conklin and Jussi Markkanen aren't slouches - but unless the Oilers play like the Oilers of the Gretzky era, and score their way out of trouble, I don't think they'll win the Cup.

That said, I don't care who wins the Cup this year, because all of the teams who I would've preferred to see win the Cup got knocked out at various stages of the playoffs (and not to mention my favourite getting knocked out before the playoffs started). If I were forced to choose a team, though, I would choose the Hartford Whalers... umm, I mean Carolina - in part because they do have the better team, and in part because since they became a part of the NHL, they haven't won the Cup yet.

As for the "why not cheer Edmonton because they're a Canadian team?" aspect of it, it's Edmonton's Canadians vs. the Hartford Whalers' Canadians. (Dammit, did I just call them Hartford again? :P ) And besides, those guys are division rivals of my favourite team, so in the interests of not being labelled as a bandwagonner (not that I really care of what people think of me), I'd rather cheer against them than for them. So there, hah. :P

Over his career, Shaq has put up good numbers against Dallas. That was mostly when we were trotting out the likes of Raef Lafrenz and Shawn "the amazing toothpick man" Bradley. He can't push Damp or Lasagna around like that. Besides, Damp is going to play the best games of his career now that he has a chance to spoon feed Shaq his own size 24 foot.

Next unless Dirk dies laughing while watching 'Toine's little shimmy , I don't see the Heat being able to stop him from getting anything he wants on offense.

Finally with Wade getting all the hype as the first star from the '03 draft to make it to the finals (Sure Darko's got a ring, but he doesn't count), JHo has a little extra motivation to make him look bad.

I repeat. Mavs sweep.

BTW: AI, have you ever been to scout.com? Great sports board there, though not as well moderated as this site.

No, I haven't. I'll have to check it out.

And to rebutt....

I'll give you that Dirk is basically going to do what he wants. But that's where the freebies stop.

Flash is highly underrated as a defensive player so Jason Terry is going to suck worse than he did in the Suns series, and there is nobody on the Mavs that can guard him. Unfortunately, he's been sick, so I wouldn't be surprised if he does bad tomorrow. And I will say that Dallas does have the luxury of having Stackhouse off the bench(just hope he isn't trying to brick a freethrow at the end of the game, )

Mavs win game 1, Heat win game 2 and 3, Mavs win 4, but the heat close it out in 5 and 6.

Oh. My. God.
Carolina really opened a can of whoop-ass on Edmonton tonight.
Ok, maybe they might sweep the Oilers after all. :P
