As the sun eventually sets, you manage to find a place to camp. The night passes without event. Indeed, the rest of your journey is quiet. As you pass through the last part of the steppe you pass herds of huge mastodons in the distance. As steppe gives way to forest, you are shadowed for a time by pure-white foxes who sniff at the smell of your cooking fires and rations eagerly but flee if threatened or approached. About a day from Wallachia, you begin to see the storm clouds. Massive, towering black pillars the crackle with lightning bolts and rumbling thunder. Curiously, you are not subjected to any sleet or snow, even as you pass under them. You also note that they are hiughly localized - they roil and rage above what becomes very apaprent is your destination. On the day you first see Wallachia, a town of pointed, shingle rooves, cobbled and cross-marked window panes, though it is morning the gloom of the furious clouds above makes it seem like night. You note that the tallest houses have metallic poles on the tops of them - and the threatening lightning occasionaly strikes these poles with a loud boom. Above Wallachia, you see a looming, stone castle. It's windows are dark. Indeed, the town as a whole is dark and gloomy - there is not a light in sight, nor any sign of movement on the shadowed streets |

During the trip the group seemd to see nothing beyond this point but blasted foxes always looking like they wanted scraps of food. The Necromancer was always quick to hoo any that came tooclose to him but otherwie they were of little concer to him and if any of his companions inetcted with the creatures he cared not. That is to say unless he somehow could see profit in doing o.
It waqs at long last Karthus got a glimps of home that arcutacture in Wallachia was very similar to that of his own land Before they etered the town he spoke "Careful around the villagers, we have no idea what power now hold dominaion here. It's best we learn of the current events of the town before asking to enter the castle. He said. They began to enter the city limits as he looked around to see any form of life, or also possibly unlife they might find or any form of open bussiness. |

The masked swordsman walked behind the others as the entered the town, ever alert as they worked their way through the streets. Suddenly he seemed to be looking up towards the various signs of the establishments finally settling on what he was looking for and motioning the others to follow.
"We need informaiton, and I need a stiff drink. There is only one place we can get both, the tavern. Let us see what this town has to offer shall we?" |

After a few days travel, Zarryn was just glad to arrive at the town, yeah it looked a bit grimy though the storm clouds above don't bode well, As Zarryn peered around, the fact that the streets were dead quiet, rang alarm bells in his head, as he heard the masked companion mention about information, Zarryn quibbed Yeah about that, not saying I wouldn't mind a stiff drink as well, but lets do it together shall we, this place laddie, gives me the chills, its as quiet as a grave here, how many towns you been in where the streets are empty and the is a localized thunderstorm.

One thing that strikes Karrthus about Wallachia are the metal posts atop the houses which attract lightning from the ver-present clouds: although other wise this looks almost identical, albeit smaller, than his hometown the metal posts seem to be some strange arcana or alchemy he is not familiar with at a glance.
As you progress forward, your footsteps seem to echo, loudly, if only save for the near constant silence when the thunder doesn't roll. Zarryn's feeling of dread increases as you proceed. Thorto sees no obvious signs of life: but his eyes are drawn to the lightning striking the metal rods. He notes that, while the movement is quick, each post seems to actually be re-directing the lightning: it bounces off of it and arcs over rooftops. At first, it's hard to see where it archs to, but as you move it seems to be that you are closer to the destination - or it is moving closer to you. Giovanni approaches the inn: it's clear that's what it is from the sign with a foaming flagon on it. However, the door is closed, and the inside is as dark as everything else here. Rattling at the handle or attempting to push the door open yields no result, at least at first. However, suddenly breaking the otherwise near complete silence, a cellar door creaks open. A frightened pair of eyes peers out at you, and a voice says in a harsh-whisper: "What a'ee yoou dooing? Yoou'll dl'raw it too yoou" The voice sounds bizarrely 'wet' - and the common is disjointed with an apparent inability to pronounce r's, slurred d's sounding more like l's and drawn out vowels. The face is lit by a lightning flash: it is that of a fish. Some of you recognize the speaker as a kuo-toa: a fish-faced humanoid often found in the Underdark. The ko-toa lacks eyelids, but still its eyes seem to widen when it looks at Giovanni. "Noo, noo. If it seensees yoou it'll be madldleeneedl. Geet dloown hee'ee beefoo'ee it coomees" Thorto notice the lightning seems to be arching to something just a few blocks away now... |

"Two" Karthus somewhat sarcastically answers the question about how many lifeless towns he's seen."But they are often replaced with unlife.. this town is unusual quite not even sounds of darker things stalking us." He said. His eyes began t move to the Rods from time to time. The idea that metal could attract lighting away from on's house was not entirly unheard of normally only people of some form of education could understand this though not peasants and to top it off something seems very strange about the lightning it drew in.
As they approached the bar something called out to them and in the flash of lighting he saw something far removed from this town making him frown all the more. The fish man seemed frightened of something hidden in this town but he saw in this an opportunity. He gripped his staff ready for defend himself but spoke. "Then you had best open your doors or that cellar to us now shouldn't you? Otherwise it'll be here any second and right on top of you." he said Last edited by Chaos Havik; Mar 12th, 2017 at 12:14 AM. |

Giovanni looks down at the Kua-toa and nods. "I understand. Quickly everyone we need to get into the shelter. " he explains.
If the Kua-toa was right they could sort out the exact object of its fear later, for now it was most important that they got to safety. Helping the creature with the shelter door Giovanni moved to get the others into the shelter before following in himself. |

As they approached the barred up tavern, Zarryn was fidgeting slightly, as the lightning high above bounces between the metal poles. As the cellar door creaked open and the wet voice spoke, Zarryn had almost flinched with the tension of the silent town, but the kuo-toa made sense, as from the corner of his eyes he spots the lightning arching closer, as he grips his alchemy bag, his knuckles near white from the grip and tension, as not needing a second warning from Giovanni, as Zarryn quickly darts into the cellar, as what ever is going behind him is now out of sight and thankfully there are now a few bodies between him and what ever was happening outside.
