Initiative Order: 1) Khandir 2) Khalid 3) Alphard 4) Karsh 5) Tear Lifters Khandir Karsh warns the group that these 'tear lifters' are here to steal their water. Khandir gets ready by arming his self with his falcata but he's not ready as he reaches for the handle. The insects dive down onto him with their needle-like faces, a swipe to his left snapping one of the three right from in front of him. He swings but the insects hover just away from his blade. Khalid Khalid smashes the first insect that comes down on him (trying to land on his head of all places) and it's impaled by a spike. He rattles it off absently before he saves Khandir from one of the suckers and kills another that's nearby. He's unable to reach the other two that attacks the slave from the half-orc's right side. Alphard Alphard chants from behind and bolt of power is released from his hand. The insect darts away to escape but the bolt just follows it, zapping it. The creature is singed but is still able to fly around. Karsh The druid separates from the group and summons the power of fire, sending it upward. The fire streaks skyward but the insect lets it's self drop and waver in a circle to avoid it, leaving the spell to dissolve without making contact. Tear Lifters The tear lifters descend upon the PCs. Khalid destroys two of them and the others try their best but there are just too many of them. They go for the larger members first, completely ignoring the smaller gnome for the larger water holders. Four of the insects land on each half-orc, stabbing them with their elongated proboscises into the unfortunate hosts and begin sucking the moisture from them. Their wrinkled, dry, husk bodies begin to brighten and plumping as they draw the water in, their barbed legs latched onto their victims, anchoring them in place.

Karsh
The bolt of fire shoots from Karsh's extended right hand but the flying beasts evade it with embarrassing ease. more practise, I am going to get myself killed if I am not at the peak of my skills! he berates himself. He is not used to working with others and seeing them perform so well under pressure makes him angry at himself.
The flying beasts drop with frightening speed and within an eyeblink Karsh feels several stabs of pain as their evil proboscises enter through his skin. " Aaah you damn water theives! " Karsh shouts as he pulls a dagger from his belt and stabs at the most accessible Tear Lifter.

News of the tear lifters' bloodsucking nature reviles the enforcer. He grits his teeth and swears, "Not from me!" In one swipe, he crushes and impales a pair whose final mistake was flying too close to Death. Yellow ichor desecrates the walls of the holy site. Having thwarted the immediate threats to his own safety, Khalid moves to aid the others. Fortunately, Alphard remains safe in his shadow, but Karsh seems to have wandered away, luring a pair of bloodsuckers with him. "Karsh! Behind you!" he warns. The lawman backhands a tear lifter who alights between the hermit's shoulderblades. The force of his strike could easily knock a man unconscious, so much does Khalid loathe the beasts. |

[Khavhan the "always late to a party" rogue]
Strolling through the grounds found Khav steaming a bit. He had gone off with the guards in hopes of doing something heroic and and instead found some drunk travelers. "What a waste of time." he said out loud to nobody. He would have to think of a good story so the others think he had a great time. "At least it had not been some stupid big hunt.". He sorted a laugh at that....but then heard the cries. He paused and listened wondering what the odd humming sound was. Thinking about the idea of real combat he smiled, drew his rapier and charged forward. As he rounded a group of trees he yelled " FEAR NOT PEOPLE BECAUSE KHAV....... His sentence was cut off by the oddest fight. He growled saying " I knew it would be a bug hunt" with that. Hw charged forward. |
