[OOC] Kingmaker OOC

God, I love EVERYTHING about FFT Dragoons - I even tried to recreate them in D&D a few years back. They're literally a death from above, inspiring fear akin that inspired by dragons swooping down from the skies and having the will to overcome even death is just too awesome to pass up. Plus, they use spears which are awesome too.

Anyway, I wanted to play an arrogant, corrupted, hedonistic, usurped high born, glory seeking red dragon-blooded knight that can breath fire for the longest time (with this

being my main sources of inspiration - don't judge me), but every time I tried to find some half-breed race it was either an abomination of balance or fluff - at least from my perspective. But now that I noticed that PF has a dragon related prestige class I started bouncing the idea around my head and the only problem I have with it now is that while fun, it would probably suck at everything. Low BAB, only level 1 divine and arcane spellcasting until I take a few levels in prestige class, etc.

I dunno, you might could drop the Dragon Disciple and go strictly Paladin/Sorcerer, so long as your Sorcerer bloodline is Red Dragon and it could suit your needs and not be nearly so squandered over levels; unless a Prestige Class gives me a very specific and worthwhile bonus I tend to ignore them. But it sounds like it could be all sorts of fun.

Well, I guess there's something to that. Still, the thing is that while Dragon Disciple has a slows down the spell progression, it offers faster BAB progression and other bonuses:

If I'd take four level dip into it after Paladin 4/Sorcerer 1, I would gain +3 BAB (compared to 5th level Sorcerer +2), +2/1/2 saves (compared to +1/1/4), 3 levels of spell progression (putting me at 2nd level spells), +4 Str, +2 Natural Armor, Bloodline bonuses and spells equivalent of 5th level Sorcerer, Bloodline feat, breathe weapon (which the Sorc doesn't get until level 9). Oh, and I forgot to mention that DD has d12 health.

So unless I'm missing something, Sorc1/DD4 gets everything that Sorc5 gets beside putting him one level closer to 3rd level spells, so at least for me (and I can't stress enough how much of a noob I am when it comes to DnD and I might've missed some pretty sweet Feat combos that you need Sorc for) it's a clear win for the Dragon Disciple up to that point. Not sure if the thing is so clear cut after that since level 6 Sorcerer gains 3rd level spells while the DD needs to invest three more to get them - although by that point he also gains +2 Con, Dragon Form (!), +1 to natural armor and +5 BAB compared to Sorc +3.

Paladin 2 (the base and most important stuff like Divine Grace) -> Sorc 1 (since I can get Arcane Armor Training and cast spells in light armor at this point) -> Paladin 2 (more BAB and Paladin bonuses, puts me at Knowledge (arcane) 5) -> Dragon Disciple 4 (because Dragon Disciple) -> Paladin 1 (for Divine Bond) -> Dragon Disciple 3 (Dragon Form and other stuff) -> ??? (level 13, currently at arcane spell level 3/divine spell level 1, +10 BAB, 5d10+1d6+7d12 HP, 5th level Paladin bonus powers)

Alternatively there's always the option of switching it up between Paladin and Sorcerer and making it a secondary fighter, primary caster:

Paladin 2 (Divine Grace) -> Sorcerer 4 (spell level 2) -> Dragon Disciple 4 (spell level 3) -> Sorcerer 1 (spell level 4) -> Dragon Disciple 3 (level 14, currently arcane spell level 5, +9 BAB, 2d10+5d6+7d12 HP, 2nd level Paladin bonus powers)

As for Alashar then yeah, he said he's still noting stuff down and we should start next week, but I think it's already the said week. I'm hoping he's just busy - it would be a shame if my first game died before it even started.

I do what I can. (I read it, I just don't really have a lot to contribute; I would prefer of the two choices the Paladin-heavy build of the two)

I'm going to a wedding this weekend and probably won't have Internet; we'll see when I get there. If Alashar hasn't posted by then, we're going to have to hold a press conference and let his closest of kin know he's MIA. And figure out what we're doing about this game, too, I suppose.

Thanks, I thought so too - maybe we'll someday land in the same game again and we'll check out if it works.

My laptop exploded yesterday and is in repairs for now, so I might have problem posting for more than an hour daily since I'll be using my friends laptop to check if anything is going on.

I think it's safe to say our DM bailed. Unfortunate but it happens with new people. I don't know any Pathfinder DMs or I would try to get a replacement. Sorry guys! Maybe next time.

Neither Troy or I have even played Pathfinder, it'd be difficult for me to DM a game when I don't even own the Adventure Path in question.

We might, still. I've been pondering DMing if Alashar bailed on us for about a week now; the largest obstacle to this is the fact I leave for Ireland in a week and a day and having unknown quantities of Internet for two months.

Naturally that would relegate Quinntessence to NPC or DMPC status, but all the same we could either find someone new or take the concept of Kingmaker and make something new from it. I don't own the module series but I've been keen on looking into it for some time. I'm unopposed to DMing as a whole, it would depend on if you guys would be willing.

Neato; et tu, Darkling and Sinner? And which do you three have preference for: Kingmaker, or a new game with these characters (or new characters, either or)?

And if we do end up doing this, I'll start a new thread in the Looking for Players section, and naturally your input would dictate who will be selected.

I'm fine with any game and any character. If the new party will need more fighters I'll happily try out my Dragon Paladin build.
