Lightning lit up the clouds and thunder tore through the storm weather, bringing bright light to the muddy streets. The crash shed bright light down upon the path Elizabeth now found herself on and the large beast in the shadows roared out in distress from the intense sound. Elizabeth raced toward the harbor and Captain Rolo was the first to sight her, with the other valiant adventurers soon afterward. Behind her, they could make out the lumbering form of something roughly humanoid, and very big. Rolo stared wide-eyed at the beast. "Well, its a bit more imposing to look at then I remember?" He raised his voice to try and get Elizabeth's notice. "'Lizbeth!"

Tenmar followed, not too pleased with the whole situation. He followed the Rolo figure he still didn't trust overly much closely enough it was obvious he was part of the group when referenced to the 'Guv' of this town, though far enough away he wasn't going to be hindered in attempt to dodge attacks or have to completely reposition himself to make attacks of his own.
When he saw the creature he was even more irritated. He took good care of his weapons and didn't like the idea of beating them on this creature and wondered vaguely in the back of his mind if Rolo's statement of it being less imposing before was true or some way to make his recruitment of them based on false information come off as an accident. With an acidic tone he decided to voice his displeasure at the whole thing, "Is there a plan to fight this thing, or are we going to throw our biggest guys and sticks at it and see which breaks first?" |

Jarek continues to follow Rolo off the boat and into the streets. Jarek sword moves a bit when a figure comes out of the shadow but the response from Rolo, Jarek holds his attack. A few breaths later Jarek, along with his new comrades, notice a large form peel out of the darkness ahead of them.
Jarek was about to attack but the words from his companion name Tenmar stops him in his tracks. I guess tactics would make more sense here he thinks as he waits until someone comes up with a plan. |

Captain Rolo turns to the adventurers that had followed him and he smiles, “Aye’ mates, the thing might be a big’un, but if I’m right it is not that bright. We will prove much more clever than it but we must get its attention. It is looking for the directions my departed relation had created. It be the guardian o’it, and it won’t rest until the chart is secured in its grasp once again. It is possible to destroy such a beast, but we need something with a lot o’damage!” He turned to look back as the full size of the large beast came into view under a lightning strike that flashed through the angry clouds. He sneered at the horrific construction, “Any suggestions?” he shouted over his shoulder.

Jarek stood for a moment thinking before replying This beast is following something or someone? And you know of this person or thing? Do you know where they went? If so we know the path the beast will take and can setup something ahead of it?

Tenmar looked around a little and then sighed, "Why not just set a small vessel afloat or pull one behind the ship. Then tell it that we saw a person with the map take it and try sailing off? Or is it too dumb to comprehend that?"
Even if it somehow wouldn't be killed, Tenmar figured that going far enough out that it would sink and eventually get stuck in the bottom of the sea's floor. The ocean could finish it off over time then. |

Captain Rolo turned and looked at both Tenmar and Jarek and grinned at their suggestions. “Indeed?” Turning back to the fleeing woman Rolo knew as Elizabeth, he nodded and spoke to those nearby, “Aye, then she must have the map, if the beast be’ chasin’ her.” He burst into a run, as fast as his rough boots would allow him. He ran toward the end of the pier, “Perhaps, we can do just that, mates. I’ll get a small crew together and get on ah’craft ready for sea that be at the end o’thah pier. Get the thing’s attention and lead it to the end o’thah’ pier!”

Jarek stares ast Captain Rolo’s, shrugs his shoulders as he steps toward the beast [i] Draw its attention and keep my distance[/I ]. Jarek angles toward the entrance to the pier indicated by Rolo, slides his weapon out of its home and roars, a challenge, towards the beast.

The storm winds about the area begin to churn. Anyone casting an eye above can see the swirling clouds through the driving, horizontal rain.
The large creation doesn’t heed Jarrek’s warning, and it takes a step further in the distance that the woman would have run. Then, it hesitates. A small folded parchment rolls through the muddy streets and pier side landing flat against Jarrek’s leg. The parchment was wet, and the moisture held it in place against the orc’s leg. The large beast makes subtle moves similar to sniffing the air, then it centers its dead gaze upon Jarrek, and roars its coarse moan beginning a lurching walk toward the orc.

Jarek stands wondering how to draw the creature’s attention when his challenge was ignore. Jarek’s eye catches a piece of paper as it is blown towards him by the night air and a breath later the paper hits him on his leg. Odd. Jarek thinks as he reaches down and grabs the parchment of his leg.
Jarek holds the parchment in one hand trying to see it while his other hand in occupied by his sword. Jarek looks up at the creature as it lifts its head. is it sniffing the air? Jarek is surprised as the creature turns lets out an odd moan and then begins to lumber towards him. Wasn’t my roar that got its attention? So what changed? It cant be this piece of paper; could it? he wonders as he begins to lead the thing down to the end of the pier as the Captain requested. |

With Elizabeth safely out of target focus, and Jarek fixed firmly in the creature’s sights, the large abomination begins thudding after Jarek as he leads it down the pier. Through the rain and wind, Jarek can make out Rolo and his first Mate tossing lines from their moorings. None of the men turn to regard Jarek and the creature as they head their way, too attentive to the holdings of the mooring lines.

Jarek continues to ponder over the piece of paper as he leads the creature towards captain. Maybe Rolo will have an understanding Jarek thinks as he notices the crewman working the lines.
Jarek turns his head once more to make sure the creature was still there and upon verification increases his speed as he yells Captain, your request has been fulfilled. |

The beast bounds along behind Jarek down the length of the pier.
Ahead he can make out Rolo and several of the others rigging a small craft for sail, as he turns to see Jarek and the creature the Captain casts the line in his hands and jumps aboard. Two long oars jut out each side of the small craft and begin twirling, grabbing water and moving the boat away from the pier. Captain Rolo yells out about the wind and rain or the storms, “Jump good man, jump for the cutter!”

Jarek makes the distance between the dingy and the pier appear relatively easy, but nearly knocks Captain Rolo from the safety of the small craft. He flails about and drops to the deck of the craft to stay aboard.
The large creature follows suit and abruptly drops off the pier face into the stormy waters. With a sudden change in the ambient sound, the monster was gone. The windy air filled with Rolo’s laughter as he patted Jarek, “Nicely done mate, nicely done! How did you get the beast to follow you?”
