If you want to buy something, sell something, or just talk to Travis, go here. Obviously only go here if its appropriate for the character, and you are on the island.

Travis looks on Jaala.
"I think your halfling friend is looking for some advice on a gift." "But for your questions, I will be honest, I do my best to not carry things of magic for too long. Unless it's related to my wares. But I do have a few of those stones that you are talking about. The nails my sound interesting. There's a goblin who spends some of his time o the Wharf, and other times in other places that sometime sells his magic. Things he casts, usually, maybe he has such things, I don't know for certain. As for food stuff? What type of food stuff do you like? The goblins they eat anything, so they have some strange things. Find a lot of them in the inn, but I imagine they'd sell to you if you wished. some more ... pleasant fare you can find in the general store, just down the street, but its mostly for resupplying. Though there are some that live here permanently, so you might find some things for the home. Don't know how long they'd keep, if you mean things like meats and vegetables." While he was talking to Jaala, he opened case, and took out 6 individual grey stones, slightly cut, but for the most part, dull and plain looking. To show his point, he tossed one into the air, and as it came down before it struck him in the head it first began to float there, and then eventually circled his head, like a vulture would circle its prey, weighting for it to die. He followed it with his eyes for a minute and then reached out and grabbed it, and put it back in the pouch. "These stones, I sell for 25 gold each. The magical light you would have to supply upon your own."

Kev considered for a moment, picking up both the armbands and the earrings,

Kev saw no obvious flaws. The stones in the earings were nicer cut, definitely held the light better than the large stones in the armbands. The earings seemed more like a ladies earings than a pirate captain's earrings.
He could imagine her wearing the armbands, and they seemed to be of decent quality. Perhaps eventually they could even be enchanted. Still, the earrings were obviously the fancier gift.

"If it were me." Morgan offered, "I'd take that ****." She gestured to the armbands. "But the earrings are definitely more feminine."

Kev nodded at Morgan's advice. "They both might serve my purpose." Addressing Travis, Kev added, "I'll give you this, the quality of these is decent. Nothing obviously wrong with them, so at least I know your likely not trying to cheat me. That's quite respectable, given we're on an island of cutthroats. But what say we make a deal. I'd be willing to buy the both of these." Kev gestured to the earrings and the armbands. "If you'll give 'em to me for 210 gold. That's a modest discount for a soon-to-be-regular customer, don't you think?" Kev hoped Travis was the

Travis smiled at the halfling, but shook his head at the offer.
"I had already offered you the discount at 125 each, because of the note. Normal customers would get them for 140, and if this were a better port, it would be 150. I cant sell them for much less than my original offer and still make a profit. There's the cost of the shop, the overhead, and the cost of business. Certainly not the 210 you offer. But you come from the Wormwood, whom I have had dealings with in the past., so I will drop another 5 gold off if you by both, so I will sell you both for 245." He seems somwhat set in that answer, but Keveran feels there is a little wiggle room in that, but not much. Perhaps another 5 or ten gold, at most. But knowing the skills of negotiation, Kev knew the next step would be to give the man a little bit more of an offer, say 220, and he would counter with his final offer. If Kev does that, Travis would respond with an offer of 240, and state that is the bottom line. Kev would be pretty sure it was, and be able to get the two for 240.

Following a few brief moments of counter-offering and the final deal, Kev agreed to Travis' offer of 240 gold for the both of them. He walked away pretty satisfied, feeling like he could present two gifts to Sarah, one as his captain, and the other.. well, he was hopeful that her new role hadn't changed the nature of their relationship too much. "Thanks again Travis. Send word to the Wormwood if you hear anything you think we should know." |
