JKTrickster - Jack Galifrey

The light is so bright, shining just above your face. Cold steel touches skin at your back while the air currents tickle your flesh. Wherever you are, it is not the home you remember, you are naked, and most concerning, you cannot make the slightest move as you lie there.

Suddenly a clunk, the sound of gears and a dizzying shift in position leave you almost upright. You slide down with no way to halt yourself until the balls of your feet hit the floor. You see a stepladder pushed into position above you before an excited looking tiny gnome climbs it and begins to poke and prod and lift. Going into truly uncomfortable detail as he examines your teeth, then your toes.

When no stone is left unturned he stands on the top step of the ladder to look you in the eye. "You are perfectly healthy." he declares, seeming immensely pleased with the fact. He pokes you in the forehead then clicks his fingers and suddenly you can move your limbs. "There now, let me show you around..."

Jack blinked rapidly as he stared up at the light on top of him. Groaning, it felt like he had been asleep for almost a whole lifetime. Taking a deep breath, he could already feel something was wrong. Everything felt too...clean and unnatural. But when he tried to stretch or move around, Jack just couldn't see anything. Jack stiffened when he realized that he couldn't move at all. A lump forming in his throat, he tried everything he could to push past the invisible bonds but none of it worked.

Suddenly he found himself standing upright with a disturbing gnome inspecting every inch of himself. Jack winced whenever the gnome touched him and he felt a wave of relief when he was done. When the gnome touched his forehead, Jack could feel the tensions dropping from his limbs. Finally with the freedom to move, Jack jumped back and eyed everything nervously. Bringing his hands up to protect himself, Jack glared at the gnome.

"Who...who are you? Where am I?" he questioned the gnome as he kept his distance. But he was already confused with more than that. Almost forgetting the gnome, Jack looked down at his hands and feet. They were similar...but different at the same time. They were more toned and muscular, like he's spent an eternity working out.

And since when could he move so fast?

The gnome hopped down from his perch and replied "I'm Flinnick and... that would be telling." the little guy gives a short laugh. "Good morning to you too by the way."

OOCIncidentally, could you make a spellcraft check if you have it trained.

"Flinnick?" Jack asked as he looked around the room. "That doesn't tell me anything. Who are you? What am I doing here?" he said, trying to make sure the little gnome wasn't lying.

OOCNope no Spellcraft checks.

But making a Perception check to look around the room and a Sense Motive check on the little bugger.

Perception
Dice Roll:
d20+51 (18)+51 Total = 69

Sense Motive
Dice Roll:
d20+48 (6)+48 Total = 54

"It tells you I'm Flinnick," he rebuts playfully, "I'm the inspector, but you've already noticed that I take it. As to what you're doing here, you're standing here, naked, asking me questions." The facetious little gnome packs up the stepladder, nearly twice as tall as he is, and begins to carry it over to a cupboard.

OOCWhile no doors lead out of the room, there are a number of alcoves that contain spiderweb thick circular etchings on metal plates.

The gnome has so far told you the truth.

Suddenly feeling very self conscious, Jack looked around for a place for him to escape to. Realizing that there wasn't much for him to do, Jack lowered his hands and paced around. Keeping vigilant, but relaxed, Jack motioned for the gnome to go first. "Well you said you'll show me around huh? Why don't you give me some clothes first?"

Looking around, Jack wondered what the circular etchings were. He could tell that they were not haphazardly placed.

OOCOops.

I just realized that I had actually misplaced my Spellcraft skill into Climb for completely unknown reasons. It doesn't even make sense since Climb was never important for a character that can fly!

I was wondering why I couldn't roll Spellcraft!

Promise that this is the last thing I'll change.

Could I still roll Spellcraft?

If I can...

For a moment Jack looked around the room, wondering how they could get in or out. Then he suddenly realized what the arcane etchings were for. Yet feigning innocence, Jack merely nodded at the gnome's words. "You're going to take me to another room...?" he asked out aloud as he walked behind the gnome. "Well then just lead the way!"

Feeling a little self conscious, Jack did his best to not feel too impatient. Not that he really noticed it anyway. It was weird - was it just him, or did Time flow a little differently here? He could swear it was even more malleable than ever. Maybe it's the place, he thought as he waited for the gnome to press one of the arcane etchings.

OOCBluff check to feign ignorance.

The gnome addresses open air, with something of a smile. "Geoffry. Take us to this boy's pants."

The world shifts, a sensation both strangely familiar and ... indescribably different. The circle has placed you in a new room. A trove by any judgement, arrayed on a stone statue.

Alit upon it's head is a simple band, the colour of flesh, your flesh in fact, bar for a single Aquamarine gemstone, taking the shape of a triangle cemented in the brow.

Swiftness, the word comes to mind in a language you can't place as you see the shirt, embroidered at the hem of the arm in gold thread with a man outrunning a figure with a cowl and scythe.

Take Wing comes in another language as your gaze is drawn to the short black cloak atop it's shoulders.

Beside it on a plinth lies a satchel, seemingly unremarkable by comparison.

"Your things," gestures the gnome.

Jack whistled as he walked around the statute, impressed by the sheer amount of magical items that were apparently his. He could swear that he had never seen such powerful items in his whole life but here he could just take them. A part of him almost wanted to ask questions but his need for clothes made him shut up for once.

But most surprisingly he wasn't awed or shocked when he saw the items. He felt calm and secure knowing that they were just there, right by his side. It wasn't only just because he was naked and needed clothes; this was the same feeling a child gets when he sees his favorite blanket. It was a sign of familiarity and attachment. These were his items and yet... he's never seen them before in his life.

Without another word Jack started dressing himself. He did not need help or instructions, even though he's never worn any shirt with this many buttons before. Looking into the bag, Jack pulled out a pair of pants and a belt. When he finished dressing, he marveled at how well it all fit his body. What was this style anyway? It seems so far removed from anything he would normally wear.

Yet when he looked into the mirror, Jack couldn't help but smile. He liked the way he looked. Everything just flowed together perfectly; honestly he couldn't look any better if he picked out the clothes himself! But still....he felt something missing when he brought his hand up to his collar. Something was supposed to be here...

Taking a deep breath, Jack brought his right hand forward. Grasping through the air, he could feel something just out of reach. Tugging gently, Jack reached through stands of time as his fist closed around something small and delicate. Opening his palm, Jack had an instant feeling that everything would be alright. It resembled an hourglass suspended in a golden lattice necklace, filled with bright blue sand.

Putting it around his neck, Jack could feel a sense of calm and power radiate through his body. Grabbing his bag and slinging it over one shoulder, Jack turned to the little gnome. "Now that's much better... but I think you owe me an explanation. What happens now?"

"I go have lunch, when you're ready ask Geoff to take you to the waiting room.", turning away from you the gnome calls out "Geoff, to the break room at your leisure."

The gnome vanishes.

Jack couldn't help but smile as the gnome left. From an employer's standpoint, the gnome had done a terrific job. He had managed to ferry him from place to place without revealing so much as a clue as to where he was or what he was meant to do. He had no choice but to follow the gnome's instructions...for now.

"Geoff, to the waiting room if you please," he said as he readied himself for whatever would happen next.
