[Game Thread] Grave Robbers??

Donavan takes the letter, opens and reads it. Don't get your drawers in a bunch, there is still plenty of day light out and the graves have only been hit at night. Pulling out a pipe and lights it. Well over the last few days I have noticed a number of graves have fresh dirt over them, as if someone dug them up and then recovered them. Now I don't know about the crypt's, I have no responsibility for those, I just keep the grounds above ground clean and looking good.

There is a wince, "You have underground crypts? Or do you mean you haven't checked the free standing ones? And how many graves were disturbed do you think?"

He shares a look with Shen, broken earth could mean emptied graves, or it could mean something crawled out of them. Undead are looking more and more likely.

He hates undead... It takes days to get rid of the smell.

We have underground crypts, this cemetery is over 200 years old. It was first constructed by some dwarves, and according to there believes, the dead should be buried deep in the earth so that the souls can return to the stone. Puffing on his pipe, There are a series of underground mausoleum's that go down several levels. Very few new occupants get are laid to rest down there, mostly just nobles who families have space down below. And as you can imagine very few people go down to visit them. Walking towards the gate, Follow me and I will show you the graves, there are about a score of them as far as I can tell, scattered about the place.

He nods, hands behind his back as he moves casually into the cemetary. He can't restrain a shiver though as they enter, then grins as he realises he feels like someone walked on his grave because he was walking on other peoples graves.

"Do you have a key to the Crypts? I would prefer to do a thorough check before we leave." a pause and look at Shen, then a sigh "And do you have a manifest of what items were put with which graves? So we can return items to the proper graves if we find them..."

Donavan laughs, A manifest of what's buried, no I'm afraid on the families of the deceased would know that, and even that would be iffy, you must realize that many of the people that are here have been here so long that those that buried them may be here as well. Like I said, my job is to keep the grounds looking nice, and prepping a new spot when needed, my family has been tending this cemetery for many generations now. As for the keys yes, I have the keys, before you ask no I couldn't tell you if they were the only set. Also you might want to know, that each of the above ground mausoleums have an entrance to the crypts below us, and they all connect in with each other. So you can enter one and exit another on, so long as it isn't locked.

Sometimes it just best to listen then to talk. He also takes notice that Selte seems uneasy with the idea of potentially dealing with undead. "Nothing strange there, most people are." When there's a break in the conversation between the caretaker and Selte, Shen asks his own question. "Has anyone actually seen something in the cemetery, or has there been anything out of the ordinary going on lately?"

Selte perks up a little at the lack of a manifest, but spots Shen looking at him and turns it into a poor image of regret that they would be unable to return the items. So sad.

"... And when did you first notice a grave was disturbed..?" He asks casually, curious if they had done so only the previous day, or if they had been going for weeks. Assuming they had access to the crypts, which didn't sound too hard to get with this system, then they could have looted not only them but each of the above ground mausaleums as well.

He is torn between hope that they caught them before they could loot too many graves and a desire for them to have looted more graves so they would get more reward for stopping them.

Donavan looks at you, Well as I said we discovered the first disturbed grave a few days ago, my boy helps me with the grounds and when he has the time my nephew comes to help as well. Hopefully it is just grave robbers, never heard of the undead filling there graves back up. It would be pretty creepy if they did, I hope you are ready for either one.

"Donovan, has anyone actually seen something in the cemetery, or has there been anything out of the ordinary going on lately? Any strange people coming around?"

Standing at the gate and unlocking it, Donavan looks at you. I'm afraid not, at least I haven't seen anything. Outside the crows and other wildlife we sometimes see this place has been, well a cemetery. I guess you can say its been a bit dead around here. He gives a bit of a chuckle. Sorry grave diggers humor, We haven't had a burial in some months so there really hasn't been any reason for anyone to come around. Most forget about the dead shortly after the funeral. But as you can imagine having grave robbers around is bad for business, after all people like to think their dearly departed wont be disturbed once laid to rest. Puffing on his pipe, he leads you around the cemetery and points out some of the various graves that have been disturbed.

Peering at the graves thoughtfully he turns, "Yep. Thats a grave alright."

He looks around for muddy footprints leading off into a dark cave, or a note left on a grave saying 'We robbed these graves and live at X', but there isn't any such thing and he is slightly disapointed.

"You any good at tracking?" he asks Shen, curiously. "The only thing I can think of what would be to check the Mausaleum doors to see if any have been used lately. If that fails we will probably end up camping out here tonight, hoping they decide to come by again."

OOC Not sure how many graves there are. Let me know if you want me to roll more skill checks. I like to add the picture for added flavour. I find it adds to the RPing as it make it easier to see who said what quickly and give you a feel for the PC. If you really don't want me to do it, tell me again and I'll stop.

Shen, as Donavan shows you a few of the disturbed graves, you see that its just as he said. They appear to have been dug up and then filled back in, the usual signs that something rose from the grave aren't seen here.

Selte peers at Shen, curious and a little tense, "So, we have any grave walkers? Or just every day looters?"

Strangely he kind of hopes for undead, they are stronger, true, but they also lack any kind of intellect.
