[Game Thread] Grave Robbers??

Donavan looks to ya and pulls a set of keys from his pocket. I guess I need to be leaving these with you, just don't loose them. I don't want to be having to pay to get someone to reset all the locks around here. If you have any more questions I will be back at the house, feel free to look around and explore the crypts if you feel it necessary.

"This is strange Red. I don't see any tracks at all. It's as if the graves were dug up and re-filled without anyone touching the ground. Either that, or they are VERY well trained in covering up after them selves." Shen takes the keys from Donovan, "Your help is appreciated. We'll see what we can "dig" up on this situation. Once we figure it out we'll be back to let you know." Shen turns to Selte and with a look of excitement in his eye, says to him "You ready to go underground Red?"

Selte winces, "Sure, but no more puns. They wound me." he winks and grins.

"So, you want to check out the Crypts? See if they are hanging around down there, perhaps stashing stuff?" a pause "If they haven't, then couldn't the act of our going down there disturb the dead enough to rise..?"

A shake of the head "Nevermind. We need to check either way..."

"first though, lets check the doors for signs of use." he heads to the closest mausaleum to the graves, checking for signs of travel, and the lack of things like spiderwebs, dust and leaves that would suggest someone went through. If not, he moves on to the next.

While not the trained tracker that his companion was, the mage does have eyes. He scans the area as they go.

Shen looking around the various crypts you find that the basic layout is the same for each of them, a smaller building with a wide open doorway and some decoration inside and out. The crypts do appear to receive some maintenance in the form of cleaning away spider webs and leafs that may blow in. One thing that does catch your eye is that while most of the locks on the doors to the catacombs show rust from years of none use there is one were the rust is oddly not present.

Red, take a look at this lock. It seems to be in great shape compared to the rest. I think our search starts here. Shen takes the key that the caretaker gave him, and tries it on the lock.

"Hold." He says, opening his inner eye and scanning the lock for any tell tale traces of magic. An alarm spell is an easy thing to cast, after all.

ooc Detect magic on the door, just in case. Assuming nothing is there...

He nods, "Okay. Its clear."

Shen going through the keys you find the one that unlocks this particular lock. Do iron door swings open easily with just the slightest creaking sound to it. Behind the door is a set of stone steps leading in to the catacombs, on the wall there are these odd glowing crystals that have been fixed in place to provide some light.

He frowns "Just a note, while it wasn't alarmed someone did use a knock spell to get it open. So... We have a mage on our hands."

A pause as he looks around inside, noting the crystals with a sigh, "A mage in a cemetary, disturbed graves, creepy looking crystal lights." he pats Shen on the back "Congratulations. I believe you have yourself a necromancer... ... Yay."

The anger isn't directed at Selte, it's at himself. "In my excitement I'm overlooking certain things, things that could be the difference between life and death. I should have tried to see if any magic was involved with the doorway and lock. I know better than that..." "Ok, thanks for the info Red. A necromancer would make sense. If that's the case, I look forward to meeting him. By the way, I did a little "searching" on the caretaker while we were with him. I didn't sense he has involvement with this, he seems to be a bystander in this situation." Shen turns back to the door and says to Selte "You ready to meet this necromancer Red?"

He winces "As ready as I am likely to be."

A pause, a sigh, then he mutters a few words and a faint aura glows around him for a moment before fading. "I mean, now I am as ready as I am likely to be."

He gestures for you to proceed him with a grin.
